Lightroom :: How Big Should A RAW Picture Be To Work Smoothly With LR5
Jun 24, 2013
I'm trying to work on a slide show with RAW picture files ( really big photos) and Lr5 is not exporting the final product. Is there a limit in size for this file?..
I cannot get the heal to work on every picture. It will work on parts of the picture, but then turn into an arrow. I have the same problem with one of my presets. It worked fine on 30 pictures and then won't work on 1 picture. It shows the change in the box on the left but then won't actually change the picture. I can't figure out why it is not working.
Coming from LR3 I'm used to classify pictures via the x-key or the reject flag. This seems no longer to work, although in the list of keys this seems to be still supported. Do I need a software fix?
I need to know how to blur smoothly. Whenever I try It comes out really badly and the edges of the blur area look to newbish. What I want is a blur line with a smooth edge -
I made a complex video clip from .avi files with Corel Videostudio Pro X3, I saved the project then moved my original files to different folder. After some time I decided I want to edit my video again and re-linked the files successfully but now when I try to play my project in edit mode it doesn't play smoothly, it stops and delays. I can't edit in such conditions because I can't preview my work... Before moving my files everything was fine. No changes were made to my computer...
I wish to create a smooth transition between the Before & After of a Filter Effect. I know settings in Layer Styles can be tweaked in simple animations, how can i do it to a filter effect? I use photoshop & flash does anyone know anyway to do it smoothly? any plug-ins or methods?
the only method i can think of is to create multiple images then adding them in flash, but that wouldn't be smooth enough for me and it will make my flash file too big if i import so many images.
can anyone suggest any workaround to that? any software/plug-in that can do that? The effect im trying to create is the flipping of a page, i found a filter to curl the ends of the page already, but it only saves a image at a time.
I‘m trying to have a simple (slide and zoom) ken burns like full page EDGE animation in our DPS folio.
The animation works like charme in the browser preview on my mac and is running smoothly without any issues. Only when I place the OAM in Indesign and preview it on the iPad (3) the animation plays back chunky. Well not exactely chunky, but it always stops once in the middle. Sometimes just for a brief moment, sometimes like up to nerly a second. It also happens when I test the HTML in mSafari. Not as bad, but definitvely also noticably.
Since I‘m fairly new to EDGE I don‘t really have a clou where to start optimising. It‘s a real simple animation (just one image moving and slightly zooming with some easing in and out, and one text element fading in) and the resulting oam is just about 790k.
I find the crop tool in CS6 to be such a pain compared to the version in LR4. When using the mouse (in CS6) to reposition the crop area the box hops around and seems to "jump" into certain positions - this is especially pronounced if it gets close to an edge.
I realize I can reposition with the arrow keys but I was wondering if there is a way to disable the "jumping" while using the mouse?
Is there a way to make a custom vector brush smoothly meet at beginning and ending of the stroke, such as with a circle? I'm trying to create smooth circles with a brush and Wacom. I want a brush rather than a mathmatically perfect circle with a perfect stroke weight-thickness, but I don't like how the two beginning and ending join up. i like the slight variations of human imperfections one gets when using a vector brush, but there must be a way to make the joing points look more smooth, rather than an after-thought prgramming fault, right? Is it possible?
The image below shows my attempts to make as smooth a joint as possible, but it still looks too much like it wasn't meant-to-be.
I'm trying to distort a picture to make it fit a cover of a magazine. I read a few tutorials on Envelope Distort and followed directions. It seemed pretty straightforward.
I created a single, closed path that I placed it on a top layer. I placed the picture I want to distort and embedded iton a second layer behind the shape. Selected them together, continued with Object>Envelope Distort>Make with Top Object. But, the picture gets twisted and messed up.
This is what it looks like and I can't think of anything that is interfering with the process. This image will be part of a collage of images that will go on the front cover of my Google+ and Facebook profile.
I want to get good color like these people below. There pictures have such pop I don't understand how it is done. There backgrounds have such good color but the subjects skin tones are still pretty accurate. I have done a ton of research before asking this question. I have messed with vibrance, saturation, Hsl, tone curve and the brush tools. My images get close but not all the way there.
Everytime I want to export pictures it exports every second picture as 0kb.
I've tried to export 100 picture at a time, the same problem occurrs. I've tried only exporting 3 pictures nad most likely atleast 2 of them are 0kb. I've tried all different settings to export the picture. Nothing out of the normal. URL....
The only work around I've found is that I open the image with Edit > In photoshop and then resize and save the image from Photoshop. But that's not the optimal workflow when you have more than 3 pictures. Would be nice to know why this problem comes up and how to fix it. This is really taking me back with publishing my work.
I found several posts about the same issue, but they were all talking about Dropbox being the problem. Well, I'm not exporting my pictures to Dropbox. A normal folder on my SSD HDD.
I have just installed Lightroom 3 - on PC laptop - and imported some images from the Picture Folder on the OS drive.Everything seems to be fine except (and its a major except) there are absolutely no thumbnails or previews of these pictures appearing in Lightroom to work on. I have tried this with a few different file formats.
I have been experiencing some issues with LR since the update to 5.3. When I edit the pictures, I chose to export it, the color look very different in the PC than in LR, I am attaching a screen of the differences, as well as my settings. I found that most issues were caused by color space not being set to sRGB, but in my case it is. Is there some other issue that I seem to have?
It was possible in LR4 to create Timelapse videos with a picture length from 0,1s on. In LR5 this value is now limited to a lower border of 1 second. Without my existing presets from LR4 it wouzld be impossible to crate timelapse videos. Have I made a mistake or was the change in LR the mistake?
I just purchased an iMac with Lion 10.7 and would like to use Lightroom 3. The system requirements for Lightroom 3 shows OSX 10.5 or 10.6. Nothing listed for 10.7.
I had to replace my HD and installed LR 4 onto the new HD but it won't launch. I get a message prompting me to update the software but after clicking on the link I just get a blank box so I had to quick the program. My computer was at Apple where it was tested for problems, etc and all is ok. I'm running OS 10.6.8. Computer is a 2008 Mac Pro.
first let me tell you that I'm familiar with LR concepts. I read a lot about RAW processing, color profiles and stuff. It all makes sense to me.
That having said... I'm unfortunatly quite unhappy with LR's color reproduction. It seems technically very accurate; unfortunatly -- Canon's own "Standard Picture Style" (so OOC JPEGs) are in most cases much nicer to look at, color-wise. I know it's not me alone having this feeling (just do a quick search).
Adobe provides look-alike profiles (.DCP-files) which are supposed to imitate Canon's Picture Styles. Unfortunatly none of these Adobe-profiles comes close (enough, IMHO) - most annoying thing for me is a strange blue/green cast in darker areas, e.g. shadows in daylight conditions are too bright and too blueish.
Remember, I'm using a EOS 50D (which probably won't get profile updates any more by Adobe, I suppose...)
So here's my question: Can I assume that Adobe already did the best they can to match Canon's Picture Style? ==> stop dreaming about a "better" "canon-50d-standard.dcp"-file. Take it or leave it, stop crying.
Or is there a possibility to tweak existing profiles? ==> find out how. Adobe's DCP editor, dcptool, whatever?
When I'm in develope module and have an image at 100% and I'm using the brush tool how can I move the picture to use the same brush in close or other areas?
I watched in the forum and found an answer that says to hold down alt key so the brush become temporarly an hand to move the image, but this doesn't work.
I have a picture - it's of a house from 1937, from the archives. Unfortunately, it has writing on it (in large white handwritten letters). I'd like to remove the letters; I only have LR3, not photoshop - is there a way to do this?
After I installed Bryen Weeler preset , something happened with all my images . If I want to work with or look at a picture it changes to a B/W image with out my intention. This happened when i installed Bryen Weelers presets. I have about 12 000 pictures that is turning into B/W images.
I have family that lost a daughter to an accident and I just took some family photos. The family wants me to put a small photo of her in the upper corner of the family photos.
