I have an external drive that until recently, was drive (E:). My computer now reads it as drive (F:). The Light Room catalog still knows the drive as (E:), so all of the pictures now show up as Offline or Missing. How do I get the pictures back without importing them again?
View 5 RepliesI am using Windows Vista and Lightroom 3.The drive letter for my external hard drive has changed from "J" to "L". I changed my import preset to "L", so I can now import and access new files. However, all of my previous imports are on this elusive "J" drive, which no longer exists. When I open J from the folders list in Lightroom it shows all my folders with the dreaded giant "?". I have tried to synchronize these folders by right clicking to "merge folders". This did not work. I can open all of these files from my back up folder, but I can't do anything with them in Lightroom. Half of my catalog is un usable.
View 17 Replies View RelatedMy C Drive boot sector recently failed due to motherboard problems, causing me to have to install another hard drive to have an operating system to run. I am still using my old hard drive for data, only now it is renamed as my F drive. When I try to run PSCS2 off my F drive I get the message "Your Adobe Photoshop user name, organization, or serial number is missing or invalid. The application cannot continue and must now exit." Adobe's website says I need to reinstall PS, BUT I cannot find my install disks! I have a legal copy of CS2 and I cannot find it after scouring the house and it's nooks and crannies. Does anyone know if there is a data or text file that I could go into behind the scenes to tell PS to point to the F drive instead of the C Drive? I did this for my Quickbooks software, but can't figure out if PS has such a capability.

I opened Lightroom.
Noticed there was a question mark by the photo folder I needed.
I synchronized the folders. Nada.
I rememebered I moved the images (first line ^^)
I re-imported the images from the external drive into Lightroom.
These images (other than one that was marked previously with a blue label) look completely untouched - completely original files - even though I spent hours working on them.
I am glad the images weren't deleted BUT re-doing 600 images will be a MAJOR FAIL if I can't figure out how to import the images with the settings / developments I did beforehand.
I have about 900 raw files on an external drive. I edited those files using my master catalog using a laptop while still travelling. When I got home, I copied the master catalog from the external drive to the desk top, then opened the master catalog on my desktop. I can see the edited images on the external drive. So far so good.
I want to copy (add) the edited images to my desk top. I tried to export the images as a new catalog and then import it into the desire location on my desktop drive. However, LR5 does not allow that. I get this message: "There is nothing new in the catalog you have selected. All of the catalog's photos are up to date in this catalog." Yes, but the edited images are not on my desktop.....
I also tried to Import from the external drive and then Copy the files to the desktop, but then I lose all of the work done in the develop module and the keywords.
I watched Kost's LR 3 video on merging catalogs, but she dodges the question of how to deal with this issue since the "merge" is within the same catalog.I'm using LR5 with Windows 7.
I'm copying RAW files from a shoot onto my network RAID drive in a per-album folder, from where I then import into a new LR catalog (I'm using LR 4.1) on my Windows laptop for that album.
I'm finding that editing RAW files on a network drive from a wireless laptop is awfully slow (not to mention not being able to continue the work offline somewhere else), so I'd like to cache those files on my speedy SSD drive just until I'm done editing and exporting/publishing that album.
I back up my per-album catalog onto the network folder alongside the RAW files since that's my IT-managed master repository. When I'm done editing, I'd purge the cached files and just keep the catalog previews on my limited capacity SSD.
So, is there a way to tell LR to, for one/all files imported from a location (in my case a network folder), look in an alternate location for the identical files? Since I create per-album catalogs in per-album folders, there wouldn't be filename clashing. Either LR can provide this caching behavior on its own or I'd manually copy files from the network folder to a local folder and tell LR to look there first.
I don't really want to make copies of files into secondary folders within LR since then it's a hassle to merge edits on the cached copy to its master copy (I haven't done this, but I'd imagine so).
How can I move my Lightroom 4 catalog (data, not photos) from my local drive to an external drive? My local drive is running out of space.

Then I imported one raw file from a different SD card (same camera) into the same catalog and edited that photo.
Suddenly all 150 photos I had originally imported into my catalog in raw were now JPG.
The only raw photo in the whole catalog was the single one I brought in from the second SD card.
I didn't click any weird buttons. I didn't do any kind of export or extraneous things.
All I did was:
1. Import 150 raw photos and edit them
2. Import 1 raw photo from a second SD card and edit it
3. Suddenly all my 150 raw photos were JPG photos and not raw any more
I am using Lightroom 4.4 with OSX 10.8.3
During a PS CS5.5 session the default file name is changed to "1.psd" and the file is corrupted and unopenable. This has happened on windows machines with several different OS, including XP64, Win7, and Win8. Correcting the default name does not correct the corruption of the file.

I notice that many of my photo's show "Metadata Status has been changed" but when I try to synchronize the folder(s) the message does not change. However, when I click the icon next to the message it will update that one photo. How can I update ALL photo's so they have the current and correct metadata without going one photo at a time.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I export my images from LR4 to CS5 using the Edit In... choice, I first get the ...may require the...Camera Raw plug-in version 7.0... which we all know doesn't exist. Not that that isn't annoying enough (I know - I can turn off the warning) but the image then presented in PS5 is not of the same quality as the one I am exporting from LR4. It's almost as if the Lightroom adjustments are not carried through. I have tried all three color space options to no avail. Also, I am not being presented with the dialog asking if I want to edit a copy with Lightroom adjustments. These are Nikon RAW files (.nef) that I am working with. Other images that are not RAW files do display the Edit Photo with Adobe Photoshop CS5.1 dialog.

Today, it only showes the folder structure with icons that are in my main "pictures" folder on my "C" drive. I didn't change antything that I know of, and now can't find out how to get the chronological listing back without the icons. View 6 Replies View RelatedI moved from Windows to Mac. Today I imported a set of photos from my camera to my disk. After rendering all of my photos became B&W (LR4 changed color treatment of my RAW files). It surprised me a lot. I did it again and again. All my photos are B&W. I have to change color treatment in all of them. I would prefer my old importing scheme (photos are color after rendering). I did not use any preset and all oprions were as usual (only changed a name of photos).
I noticed that LR4 changed a few other options: decreased highlights by 100, increased shadow by 100, increased clarity by 50, changed tone curve to strong contrast, increase sharpening to 100, noise reduction to 40, and so on. Increadible! How can I came back to my way of importing?
I recently decided to use LR to catalog all my images (instead of Bridge). I love that PNG is now supported. Ran into one problem...all the snowflake and white frame images are viewed as a white rectangle due to the background white. I know Preview and other "viewers" don't have this issue. ACDSee has a setting to change the background. Can I do this in LR5? If not, is there a link where I can submit for a product enhancement to the Product Management team for a future release of LR?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI edited my picture in LR then I choose > Edit in Photoshop. All well. PS opens and I edit in PS. Then I save my image on my PC as a JPG. Then I want to upload it to a site certain site. And once the photo is uploaded the colors are all different. Not slightly but let's say I selected Old Polar as a preset . It will be like that in PS but on the web it looks like for example blue became closer to dark grey. Or other colors changed.
When I edit first in LR . Save it to my computer . Then open it in PS it works fine. But I don't want to do that.
It seems that in LR5 the quickest time for showing images in the slideshow is now one second.
LR4 allowed for less than one second, down to .1 second.
Two pictures keep coming up in a Smart Collection I created to see which images' metadata need to be saved after adjustments.
I select the two, save and after a few seconds they populate the Smart Collection again. Clicking the "Metadata needs to be updated"-icon of the selected files also doesn't work.
This is what I see:
I tell LR to save the changes:
And think all is OK:
But in no time I'm back with where I started; the same two images in the collection.
Going to the folder in the library and saving doesn't work either.
What can be wrong with these two pictures? The Metadata list shows all correct info, caption and keywords, just the Metadata Status shows there's a conflict. Choosing "Resolve conflict" gives the same results as all I tried before.
I have just updated to Lightroom 5.3 and the strangest thing happened. I went back to my galleries and all the colors are off. Everything is a little greener and a little warmer. I had just exported a wedding that I shot a a few days ago anf I went back to change one shot. I noticed that it didn't match any of the other shots or previous version of that shot. I am an Olympus shooter (OMD E-M1) and I know that Adobe just added new Olympus profiles into Lighroom for the first time. I am not using any of those profiles, just the Adobe Standard profile. I am still experiencing a color shift. I am running an 2011 Imac w/ Maverick, 12gigs RAM, SSD Boot Disc. I didn't have any problem until the update.
