During a PS CS5.5 session the default file name is changed to "1.psd" and the file is corrupted and unopenable. This has happened on windows machines with several different OS, including XP64, Win7, and Win8. Correcting the default name does not correct the corruption of the file.
View 3 RepliesI'm finding that Lightroom changes the file creation date when embedding metadata. I notice that this behaviour differs from Bridge, which manages to write metadata changes to the file without affecting the creation date, only touching the modified date.
I've read in other threads that it doesn't matter anyway because moving files between disks will write a new file and therefore a new creation date, but while this may be true in some systems (I don’t know) this is certainly not the case with Mac OS. For example, I have files going back to at least 1998 which have been moved from disk to disk to disk yet still retain their original creation date. Which is as it should be. For many of my older images there seems to be no recognisable embedded capture date anyway, so the file creation date is the only time stamp.
It seems perfectly logical that the modified date of a file should be updated to reflect that the file has been modified (e.g. though adding metadata), but it seems equally logical that the file creation date should be retained as the original date that file was created. Changing them both to the same date seems to be a needless loss of information.
Some might argue that the process of adding metadata to a file creates a new file, therefore the creation date needs to be updated to reflect that. But I would say that the creation date should be what a normal user would understand as the creation date. We don't expect the creation date to be changed simply because a file is rewritten to disk (for instance when defragging), however technically accurate it might be to say that it is a newly created file. And the difference in behaviour between Bridge and Lightroom shows that there is some confusion about this.
using lightroom 4.3 when I edit a group of photos in lightroom, most of the files will only be edited in lightroom but a few will also be opend into PS6 (by right clicking > edit in>) Once the PS edits are complete the image is saved & I return to Lightroom. When I export the entire group of images - I set the file name to 'custom name - original file number'. The images I edited in lightroom only - all are renamed as expected (ie wedding photo-1234, wedding photo-1235). The images I edited in both lightroom & photoshop receive the custom name but lose their file name (ie wedding photo-, wedding photo-1, wedding photo-2, etc.) When viewing these PS edited images in lightroom - they do show the file #, it is only after export that the file # is lost..
I wish to maintain the file names for all of the images.
Changing a file association is a simple matter you either do it in Windows Explorer in the properties or just use the edit in command in bridge.Except that neither is working.
Photoshop CS6 is not even showing up as an option in either Explorer or in Bridge but it is ironically working in Lightroom.I know how to change file associations.
I am using Illustrator CS5.1 and have just noticed that whenever I try to open a new document (file/New...) the document is a PDF instead of an AI file. How do I change it back to AI? - Not sure how it changed to PDF in the first place.
View 12 Replies View RelatedI've been working on this project for so long and today when i saved the 3d model, created with autocad architecture 2014,and reopened it, the walls , slabs, doors all changed into lines, but the 3d solids remained the same....i 've attached a photo what happened to my model.

I imported 150 raw photos from my Nikon D5100 and edited them all.
Then I imported one raw file from a different SD card (same camera) into the same catalog and edited that photo.
Suddenly all 150 photos I had originally imported into my catalog in raw were now JPG.
The only raw photo in the whole catalog was the single one I brought in from the second SD card.
I didn't click any weird buttons. I didn't do any kind of export or extraneous things.
All I did was:
1. Import 150 raw photos and edit them
2. Import 1 raw photo from a second SD card and edit it
3. Suddenly all my 150 raw photos were JPG photos and not raw any more
I am using Lightroom 4.4 with OSX 10.8.3
I have an external drive that until recently, was drive (E:). My computer now reads it as drive (F:). The Light Room catalog still knows the drive as (E:), so all of the pictures now show up as Offline or Missing. How do I get the pictures back without importing them again?

The original image is 352KB and after saving as CMYK it is 2.1MB
Why is this happening and how can I stop it?
I'm using a lot of images for a print project so need to keep file sizes small with resolution of 300dpi. The image dimensions are really small, only about 30mm high so they shouldn't be this large a file size
I am using a clipping path but this doesn't seem to be effecting file size (I checked by saving it as RGB with a clipping path which stayed small, and by saving one without a clipping path in CMYK which was huge)
I'm using LR 4.3 on a Win 7 64 bit PC. I notice that many of my photo's show "Metadata Status has been changed" but when I try to synchronize the folder(s) the message does not change. However, when I click the icon next to the message it will update that one photo. How can I update ALL photo's so they have the current and correct metadata without going one photo at a time.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I export my images from LR4 to CS5 using the Edit In... choice, I first get the ...may require the...Camera Raw plug-in version 7.0... which we all know doesn't exist. Not that that isn't annoying enough (I know - I can turn off the warning) but the image then presented in PS5 is not of the same quality as the one I am exporting from LR4. It's almost as if the Lightroom adjustments are not carried through. I have tried all three color space options to no avail. Also, I am not being presented with the dialog asking if I want to edit a copy with Lightroom adjustments. These are Nikon RAW files (.nef) that I am working with. Other images that are not RAW files do display the Edit Photo with Adobe Photoshop CS5.1 dialog.

View 2 Replies View RelatedUntil I launched LR4 today, my Folders display would show a chronological listing of the path names of the import locations I made, with the most recent import location at the bottom of the list. Today, it only showes the folder structure with icons that are in my main "pictures" folder on my "C" drive. I didn't change antything that I know of, and now can't find out how to get the chronological listing back without the icons. That was a very convenient to easily get back to any of the most recent import sessions and associated photo locations I had. How can I get rid of the folder icons and structure?

I moved from Windows to Mac. Today I imported a set of photos from my camera to my disk. After rendering all of my photos became B&W (LR4 changed color treatment of my RAW files). It surprised me a lot. I did it again and again. All my photos are B&W. I have to change color treatment in all of them. I would prefer my old importing scheme (photos are color after rendering). I did not use any preset and all oprions were as usual (only changed a name of photos).
I noticed that LR4 changed a few other options: decreased highlights by 100, increased shadow by 100, increased clarity by 50, changed tone curve to strong contrast, increase sharpening to 100, noise reduction to 40, and so on. Increadible! How can I came back to my way of importing?
I recently decided to use LR to catalog all my images (instead of Bridge). I love that PNG is now supported. Ran into one problem...all the snowflake and white frame images are viewed as a white rectangle due to the background white. I know Preview and other "viewers" don't have this issue. ACDSee has a setting to change the background. Can I do this in LR5? If not, is there a link where I can submit for a product enhancement to the Product Management team for a future release of LR?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI edited my picture in LR then I choose > Edit in Photoshop. All well. PS opens and I edit in PS. Then I save my image on my PC as a JPG. Then I want to upload it to a site certain site. And once the photo is uploaded the colors are all different. Not slightly but let's say I selected Old Polar as a preset . It will be like that in PS but on the web it looks like for example blue became closer to dark grey. Or other colors changed.
When I edit first in LR . Save it to my computer . Then open it in PS it works fine. But I don't want to do that.
It seems that in LR5 the quickest time for showing images in the slideshow is now one second.
LR4 allowed for less than one second, down to .1 second.
Two pictures keep coming up in a Smart Collection I created to see which images' metadata need to be saved after adjustments.
I select the two, save and after a few seconds they populate the Smart Collection again. Clicking the "Metadata needs to be updated"-icon of the selected files also doesn't work.

But in no time I'm back with where I started; the same two images in the collection.
Going to the folder in the library and saving doesn't work either.
What can be wrong with these two pictures? The Metadata list shows all correct info, caption and keywords, just the Metadata Status shows there's a conflict. Choosing "Resolve conflict" gives the same results as all I tried before.
I have just updated to Lightroom 5.3 and the strangest thing happened. I went back to my galleries and all the colors are off. Everything is a little greener and a little warmer. I had just exported a wedding that I shot a a few days ago anf I went back to change one shot. I noticed that it didn't match any of the other shots or previous version of that shot. I am an Olympus shooter (OMD E-M1) and I know that Adobe just added new Olympus profiles into Lighroom for the first time. I am not using any of those profiles, just the Adobe Standard profile. I am still experiencing a color shift. I am running an 2011 Imac w/ Maverick, 12gigs RAM, SSD Boot Disc. I didn't have any problem until the update. View 10 Replies View RelatedI recently added an external hard drive and am now saving my new pictures to that hard drive. Lightroom still lives on my hard drive. I imported some pictures into LR last night and several of them have an arrow icon on them and the error message says "Metadata has been changed externally" but it hasn't. These are DNG files that have not been opened anywhere other than LR. I did synchronize the settings of these pictures, but all within LR.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm running PSPX3. the effect of no compression (or compression factor = 1) on saving files. I've got a JPEG image file straight from my camera that's approximately 4.1MB in size. If I do nothing else but "Save As" with a compression factor of 1, the new file size is approximately 50% larger, or 6.2MB. What has changed to make the file size larger? Both images are still 72DPI, 3648X2736px. I can't image that I have done anything to "improve" image quality, so why did the file size increase?
View 14 Replies View RelatedI was working in Illustrator CS6 I had made a a bunch of vectors for a background and grouped them. I applied a blur to the group and was still editing the vectors within the group since then. After I saved and closed my file at the end of the day and opened it the next day my vector group is now solid. It seems like it is just a raster image? I can't edit it at all. How can I get it back? If I can't change it back I am going to have to start again!

It is checked, but I keep finding files that "have been changed recently". So not only that it's not auto-saving them, but it is also finding "new images" that "have been recently changed" even though I didn't open or edited them in the past several months..
View 8 Replies View RelatedSomewhere between LR 3.4 and LR 4.3, the behavior of applying a keyword to a collapsed stack changed. It used to be that the keyword was applied only to the top photo; now it is applied to all the photos.
This behavior occurs only for adding keywords; if you delete keywords or change flag, label, date, caption, etc. it only applies to the top photo in the stack.
Did I miss a feature announcement in the release notes? [URL] .........
