Sep 7, 2012I'm being asked to provide images in 800X600 72dpi. Is there a way to adjust dpi when exporting?

View 1 RepliesWhat I'm in the process of doing is creating shapes in Sketchup and exporting them as 2D images. Obviously, those images have a lot of "dead" space around them that I would like to reduce.
I'm able to select a rectangle selection tool and select my image, with the goal of pasting it into a new image which will have much less "white" space around it. My question, is there a more precise way of doing this? I need to cut out an even pixel space, for example, a 128 x 64 (both sides need to be even), how do I know what is the size I'm cutting out? And sometimes it's hard to do correctly do it with my mouse, is there a way to adjust the selection borders with the keyboard instead?
In Photoshop, you can set the size of the eyedropper to sample a single pixel, 3x3 average of 9 pixels, 5x5, 11x11, etc. It can make a big difference when sampling a single pixel as opposed to the average of a larger area.
Can the sample size be set in LightRoom?
If not, what is the sample size in LR when you run your cursor over the image? Does this vary depending on the displayed magnification of the image?
In development mode, any adjustments I make on the sliders on the right have no effect to the picture. Sometimes the picture greys out and I have to try and click on a different picture below for it to show up again. The grey screen comes up if I try and crop and image as well. It feels like it's not letting me make any adjustment to the layer.
It was working fine a month ago. Had a client ask for a picture so started up LR4 and experienced the above problem.I have tried the following.
1. Created new catalogue, import new images. Still can't edit the pictures. Moving the sliders around and has no effect to the picture.
2. Unistalled LR4 and Reinstalled LR4 but still no change.
In the Print Adjustment panel of the Print module, what do the numbers, which go from -100 to +100 really mean?Exposure slider in the Develop Module, which are, I believe, fractions of an f/stop?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI've been reading online that lightroom has the ability to control sliders in the develop module by simply hovering over the slider and scrolling. However this doesn't appear to be working for me. Whenever I hover over a slider and scroll, Lightroom attempts to scroll the right panel.
My system configuration:
Mac
OSx mountain lion
Lightroom 4 (latest update)
tried for raw and JPG files
tried using the macbook pro 2 finger scroll, a microsoft USB mouse and a MacAlley USB mouse
is there anything special I need to do to make this work?
Is it possible to adjust the Capture Time by 5:30 or 5:45 hours? These are the Indian and Nepalese timezones. The Edit Capture TimeShift by set number of hours (time zone adjust) only allows adjusting by full hours and not fractions of hours.
It will be great to have this added to the newer versions of Lightroom as 5:30 and 5:45 are, together with other more exotic combinations, valid time zones.
I'm new to Lightroom so I'm used to being able to simply adjust the dpi of my photos from 300 to 72 (or whatever I need it to be). I can't seem to locate a similar feature in Lightroom. Am I missing something here? How can I change my large 300dpi files into smaller 72dpi?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI created a book with 75 or so photos using Lightroom 5.3. Everything is ok and all done - but I forgot that my display is overbright so that I can see things clearly. On single images, I usually increase brightness and contrast in the print module before saving off a single file to print. I don't want to do this to all the 75 images one at a time. is there a way to adjust the brightness/contrast in the book module... kind of in a batch?
If not, what does the print adjustment equal to in the develop module? For example, I have found through testing, that if I go with +67 brightness and +51 contrast in the print module, it compensates any and all photos that I have developed in the develop module with my overbright display.
My develop mode adjusts my pictures automatically. Can I turn this off somehow?
View 5 Replies View Relatedhow to adjust the curve of individual RGB channels. I am assuming the LR4 Tone Curve works like the PS Curves dialog with the channel dropdown.
To make adjustments to individual points on the tone curve, choose an option from the Point Curve menu, click the Edit Point Curve button , and do any of the following:
Choose an option from the Channel pop-up menu. You can edit all three channels at once, or choose to edit the Red, Green, or Blue channel individually. When I click the little icon in the lower right corner of the Tone Curve panel, the panel shrinks so that I don't see the Regions sliders. If I click again, they are visible again. I can't find where to select one of the three indvidual channels.
The Help refers to "the Point Curve menu." Where is the Point Curve menu? Is the Point Curve different from the Tone Curve?
If I right-click (Windows) in the curve dialog, the context menu has a Show Info option. I click it on/off and don't see any change or any info. Where should I be looking for info?
I get artifacts when I lighten (dark specks) or darken (white specks) when I use the adjustment brush to adjust exposure on my photos. It would seem to be a big enough bug to get noticed and promptly fixed, unless I am doing something wrong.

I have a Hiti printer and home and when I print the images come out a little over exposed. View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm using Lightroom 3.6 for Mac and when I export to CD/DVD it takes several minutes to burn the CD. For example, I have about 50 jpg images that I export at 100% quality and at 300 dpi with no watermarks, etc. I can use Finder to burn to disc funtion and I can burn 2 cd's in the time it takes Lightroom to burn. I want to be able to use Lightroom for all my processing from importing to corrections to printing to exporting on CD. When shooting events we take the images in jpg, import and put them into folders for each client. Once the client purchases a CD of all their images we burn the CD. I do not want to use separate software to burn the CD if at possible. Is there settings or something I can change in Lightroom to speed up the process?

I downloaded LR3 onto my new computer but need to somehow get Ithe presets I created off of my old computer and onto my new one. View 1 Replies View RelatedMy continuing story of space issues. Find that I'm rapidly running out of space now that my wife has been uploading way too many 24 mpixel files (~30Gb total) to my Lightroom 5 catalog. Is there any way to export her RAW files to a thumb drive or another external hard drive? The only export functions I see are conversions to Jpegs.
View 8 Replies View Relatedwhen exporting RAW files from lightroom 3, version 3.6, to photoshop 5, (version 12.04, ACR 6.6), raw files go directly to editor, not camera raw editor. This began only after I went from trial version to full version, before it went to RAW editor. If loading directly into PS RAW files do go to RAW editor as they should, but not from LIghtroom.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have been having a problem exporting w/ Lightroom on a Mac. It seems that no matter what export settings I am using, Lightroom will only properly export a few images out of several. I'm at a loss, and I have to get several files exported today.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to export a bunch of photos that I have tweaked the color on and a few other settings. Lowered saturation, sharpened, etc...
When I put the lightroom and the jpg in any other viewer side by side, the export looks like the original before it was tweaked. Too much red, too much saturation. Not sure what I am doing wrong. I have tried exporting a single image as well as a bunch and no different. In Lightroonm, they look amazing. Exported, they don't.
I recently converted from Lightroom 4 to 5. I just noticed that not all my keywords are exported to my jpeg file. For example I have the following keywords in Lightroom; Horizontal, Landscape, National Forest, Scenic. My exported jpeg has only the keyword Landscape.
In the Library Module, when I click on the dropdown Keyword Tags and select "Will Export", I only see the keyword Landscape. I'm not sure what this "feature" is all about. I need to be able to export all keywords.
This problem seems to be consistent and I have a test file set up so I can repeat the problem. Only certain keywords are not exported.
