on a black and white photo in Lightroom 5, how do I remove a white aberation fringe in my photo.

I have recently been playing with removing CA from pictures. I have a particular RAW file picture of the inside of a church dome. I have made a number of Develop Module adjustments. There is purple and green fringing along the window frames and the columns by the windows, which I would like to remove.

I can remove most of this fringing by checking the Remove Chromatic Aberration box and then either use the dropper tool or just slide the Amount sliders a bit for both the Purple and the Green fringes. I do see a noticeable difference.

However, I have a problem Exporting the resultant file. Right before I check the Remove CA box, I can Export the RAW file as a JPEG, with, say, 80% quality, and leaving size/dimensions unchanged.

After I check the Remove CA box, however, when I try to Export the file, I get 1 of 2 results. One result, probably more common, is that it appears as if the file is being Exported; however, after a bit of time, I get an error message that says "Not Enough Memory." The second thing which can happen is that it appears as if a file is being Exported, but there is no disc activity, and, after it looks as if the Export completes, there is no file in the folder I specified. If I try Exporting again, leaving everything exactly the same, I get no message at all telling me that the file already exists, confirming that it had not been exported the first time.

I have tried greatly reducing JPEG quality (down to 40% I think), and I still cannot Export. I have tried lowering the dimensions down to 1920 pixels on the long side, and I have tried restricting the file size to about 5000K. Nothing so far has allowed me to Export this file.

Yet, if I go back in the history, right before I checked the Remove CA box, I can Export that file.....although the only way I can do that is to first exit Lightroom and then relaunch it.

My PC is about 4 years old; I have 4 GB of memory. Maybe I need more, but even by trying to greatly reduce the file size, I have these problems.

Photoshop :: How To Remove Fringe Around Picture?

I created an image for a programming project with Photoshop. When my application runs, everything that is red is drawn as transparent when the form is rendered. The purpose of this is to make an application with a shaped form instead of the regular rectangular windows.

Anyways, my problem is with the image itself: there is a little fringe around it. I am no Photoshop expert, but it appears that the fringe is created by Photoshop when my image is rendered against the red background I created. My image, let's say a circle, is actually in a separate layer, and the background layer is red all over. What happens is that pixels, let's say blue, near the edge of the circle in the image layer turn to purple to smooth out the circonference of the circle in some sort of anti-aliasing fashion.

Since at runtime the red disappears, I end up with a purpleish fringe around my circle, which is annoying. I tried using a different background colour, but I still end up with a little fringe, just of another colour. I tried the various "defringe" options of Photoshop but without any success.

I need to be able to save an image with a transparent background which will appear ontop of different colored backgrounds. No matter what I do, I can't get rid of the nasty white fringe/speckles around the image. I've tried everything possible and I've only been able to reduce it.

I've played with different image settings, I've removed the Matte before saving, I've mapped different colors for transparency, etc.

I have some 3x5 glossy photos taken from about ten years ago. They are no longer in the best condition, and have dust specs and superficial scratches on them. Recently, I decided to scan them and was less-than-happy with the result.

For example, one of the photo's is of me and my friend against a blue-ish wall behind us. The entire scanned image, though, is covered in little white specs. I have black hair, but it looks almost as if i have dandruff lol. even the blue background has a bunch of little white speckles

I was wondering if there was a tool or filter or other way to remove some of the small white specs from the picture.

Using Gimp, I'm working up the learning curve, and don't know how to remove the white lines and dirt at the upper corners, and extend the pavement to cover it. I'm hopeful that with Gimp, it can be accomplished.

When in Lightroom, if I Export as PSD no fringe.

Lightroom :: Why Won't The Clone / Heal Tool Remove A White Spot

After being embarrassed by failing to check the Clone/heal tool to make sure the opacity was set correctly, I am encouraged to ask another question that was not affected by the appropriate correction that made the tool work fine under most circumstances. However, using LR4 (and previously LR 3) )iMac 27 quad) at odd intervals, certain images show up with a single white spot, usually on a blue background, that cannot be removed or cloned with the LR Clone/heal tool. It can be removed with the clone tool in PS but not in LR. I don't know where the spots come from. They sometimes show up in a sequence of 3-4 or just singly. A copy of one is attached here. I don't know if this spot is an aberation in LR or from my cameras. Since it's happened with different cameras, I presume this is some problem with LR.

Lightroom :: Lens Profile Creates Different Color Fringe

problem: once I activate lens corrections, photos with blue/purple content get a color fringe. Left version below is a 100% crop from the raw file, lens profile deactivated. Right version is a screen shot of the same raw file in the develop mode, with the lens profile active. The color fringe exports into JPEGs - so it does not seem to be a problem of the viewer or the GUI.

I'm using an Alpha 55 with a Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 Macro. I haven't been aware of this problem with prior versions, but I've found it on both, LR 4.4 under Vista 32bit and the trial version of LR 5.2 under Windows 7 64bit. It appears to be related to the blue/purple color: I first found it on a people shot with uniform blue shirts, where the blue/ skin contrast created a "ghost" frame. To make the artifact disappear, I have to deactivate lens correction entirely. Deactivating CA removal alone does not change anything.

The new colorfringe correction method in Lightroom 4.1 RC2 works fine even for difficult longitudinal CA when used with care. After basic adjustments I normally export my raw file to CS5 for further editing.However found out that even after the Camera Raw update to 6.7 RC my Lightroom colorfringe adjustments were not transfered to CS5.

: but do we require to buy CS6 with Camera Raw 7 to open the raw image with Lightroom corrections for colorfringes maintained?

In the Develop Module under Lens Corrections, the CA option is no longer present. It was there in the previous RC. In the Sync Settings, it is a still a selectable option.

I must state that I am miffed that manual adjustment of C.A. has disappeared in LR4. This would have been easier to understand if some commonly used lenses that are not the latest release had profiles available. For example, I shoot the older version Nikkor Micro D 60mm and 105mm lenses for underwater photography. I built a preset to correct the C.A., which I now assume won't work. The automatic setting does not entirely remove it. Is there any way to deal with this aside from adding an extra step and editing CA in Photoshop (which doesn't do a great job of it, either)?

Lightroom :: How To Remove Photo From Catalog Or Delete From HD

Adobe Lightroom is amazing. Hear this, when you need to delete one image it pops up a dialog box and asks ou if I want to remove the photo from catalog or delete from HD. When you have multiple images selected, Lightroom cares less to ask you and just deletes them. Here is the flaw. Aparently with lightroom you can create a selection within selected group of photos (thats amazing I know). When you select a particular photo within selected group and you want to delete that one photo, Lightroom just deletes all the selected photos. That means, if you selected all the photos in your catalog, it will delete them without any warning, just like that.

Now, why am I ranting about this? Because of this double selection business, sometimes you are not aware that you have multiple photos selected; sometimes you still think you only have one photo selected. So when you think you're deleting only one photo you are deleting multiple photos, and Lightroom does not even warn you or ask you "Are you sure you want to delete 5,000 photos?". This is driving me nuts, I already delete multiple photos from the catalog several times. Yes, you can dig your trash and add them back, but all the editing and adjustments you may have done to your photos, evaporated.

How I can enable something in Lightroom to warn me if I'm deleting multiple images?

Lightroom :: New Chromatic Aberration Tools Kills Old Settings

I've just recently found that new chromatic aberration tools kills settings for old chromatic aberration tools. Lets say I have a PV2010 photo with adjusted sliders for chromatic aberration reduction and selected defringe "all edges".Now I'm importing this photo to LR 4.1. I'm not updating process version!

Photo is automatically updated by Lightroom to new CA controls (note it still PV2010 photo). Well, I must say the the results are superb - they are the same as I was achieving with manual sliders, but now with only one click. But the problem is - Lightroom says that metadata have been changed, and I am writing back changes to XMP.But now XMP contains settings for new CA tools, but settings for old CA tools are LOST.

So if I want to open this image in ACR 6.6, or send it to someone with older LR version I end up with completely resetted CA settings, because ACR 6.6 does not have new CA tools, and settings for old tools are killed by LR 4.1 - they are just removed from XMP. So I am loosing CA removal settings completely when opening image in earlier version of application. And I am NOT updating process version!

I am a commercial photographer and have use Lighroom since it was introduced. I just updated Photoshop to CS6 and found that the Chromatic Aberration corrections I apply to an image in Lightroom 4.2 are NOT following the image when I open the image in CS6 using Command-E to open the image from Lightroom. All other Lightroom corrections have been applied, only the Chromatic Aberration correction is missing. One other piece of information is that I convert all RAW files to DNG when I inport the RAW file into Lightroom. I had none of these issues when I was using Photoshop CS5.

I am having a problem with LR 4.2 in correcting chromatic aberation. When I try to use the "defringe tool" I receive the following error message, "Cannot set the purple or green fringe color. Please sample a representative fringe color agian." However, I can see the sampled pixel in the pallette and read the RGB values.
