Lightroom :: 5 - Files With Stripes When Develop NEF Photos
Feb 11, 2014
When I start to develop my NEF photo's from my Nikon D7100 some of the pictures have started to develop multicoloured stripes across the bottom. But they seem fine on the external hard drive.
How can I found photos with manual lens correction (Lens Correction/Transform) or cointrain crop (Lens Correction/Transform/Constraint Cop) in LR 4.x ? I tried to do this with Smart Collection but I can't.
I get red and blue splotches on photos in LR5 Develop Module. Seems to be mainly in bright areas of photos. Not there in Library module. I noticed this in the Beta as well but thought it would be fixed before release. In LR4.4 everything is fine.
When i'm editing photos in the develop module they look really clear and good. When i switch to the library, they have a lot of noise and look nothing like how I edited them. I am using lightroom 4 for my mac. It's annoying to have to switch between the develop module and library to see what they are going to look like.
I am using Lightroom 4.4 Dell Ultrasharp monitor is calibrated. I own and have been referring to Scott Kelby's Lightroom4 book for digital photographers. I recently took some photos of my daughters prom. She had on a beautiful reddish orange dress. I notice that the dress appears very red in the develop module, however, appears a bit more orange in the library module. The change is very noticeable between the modules. The dress also appears similar to the library module view (a bit more orange) when viewed on the web via Flickr utilizing Chrome, Firefox, or IPad. It also appears the same when exported to a JPEG file.
I have done some experimenting and have determined that this color change effect appears to be very noticeable utilizing the Adobe Standard Camera Calibration Profile. It does not happen (at least to a noticeable extent) with the others such as Camera Standard where the dress appears a bit more orange in both the library and develop module. I do, however, like the appearance of the Adobe Standard profile better and this happens to be the default profile as well.
I have also noticed that the dress looks more orange when Soft Proofing is enabled. The change happens immediately when the check box is enabled. Checking the box makes the photo appear similar to the Library module view. Enabling Soft Proofing does make noticeable that there is Destination Gamut Warning which mainly involves the dress which is the point of interest, however, there is no warning with the Monitor Gamut Warning. I am intending to place the photos on the web at this time via Flickr. I will be printing several later so will be worrying about the printer gamut at that time. But for now, I would like to get the photos on the web looking as intended.
I have important some photos into the library catalog, but they are not showing up in the filmstrip or develop module, even when I click to select one. I can work on it in the library section, but not the develop section. What do I have to do to make it appear in 'develop'?
When I open the photos in "Library" do not look good. In "Develop" yes... When I go Library to Develop, the screen moves a bit, and then it looks good but does not work because when I export, the photos look, like in Library. I'm climbing the walls from last night (I uninstalled, updated, etc) Now is Lightroom 5.
I managed to get my catalog transferred from Elements 8 and it is now working well. Feeling confident in the Library module I went to move on to the Develop module and now I have another problem, the photos are not showing up to edit. They are visible in the film strip and the top left corner, but not the actual screen. All the metadata is also available.
Possibly a related problem (which may also need a resolution) is:While all the data is there in Library module it is showing metadata conflict for many photos.
BTW some additional information which may be relevant. -I have already upgraded to 4.1. -I have the photos on a network drive. -Photos are Raw DNG format
The only way I can see my photos is if I hit the crop button in develop mode. Otherwise my thumbnails and main screen all come up with just a gray screen and I am unable to use any of the tools.
The issue probably has to do with the differences in settings. I am using the 64 bit version of Windows 7.I imported a group of pictures with the XMP sidecar files generated with Lightroom v3. All the image files, a mixture of Canon Mark 5D II RAW and jpg files from my point & shoot UFO camera, imported without issue picking up all my tagging and GPS settings. When importing you are put into the Library module and from the Library module I could click on any RAW or jpg file, look at the meta data and view full screen.
I then entered the Develop module with a jpg picture selected and none of my settings made it across. The process was set to 2012. I was able to try out the new adjustments and all worked very well.I then selected a RAW file while still in the Develop module and all hell broke loose.
I got a tip window pop up, the film strip went orange, the rest of the app screen then became greyed out and then behind tip pop up a crash window containing this information appeared:
There was no other path but to have the app close after that. Now since Lightroom has left off with the RAW file in the develop module when I restart the app it starts in the develop module with that same RAW image selected and I crash before I can change to a jpg. I am probably going to have to delete and recreated the data file to use the app again
After the all this I went back and checked to see how I had the catalog settings in LR 3 set because there were no sidecar files for the jpg images. I did not have the option to write settings to jpg and tif files but did have write settings to sidecar set. So I have a bit of a mystery why I have no sidecar files for jpg files when I should have based on the way the settings were. This probably explains why I had no issues at all with them in LR 4.
I am going to get LR 4 working again and then import the same batch of pictures without any sidecar files and see if I have any issues. I will report back soon.
when I access in Lightroom 4.4 a folder which had been edited originally (and imported) in Lightroom 3, the options and settings for Developing and editing in LR 4 change to appear like the old options in LR3 (Exposure, Recovery, Fill Light and Blacks, instead of Highlights, shadow, whites and blacks etc..). Why is Lightroom 4 doing this. Most of the files I am trying to edit have not been touched before in LR 3 but were simply imported originally into the catalogue from LR3.
I use Photoshop CS5 extended version 12.0 64bit. I don't know why but some of my files I created have stripes on them when I reopen to work on them. It looks like some layers get corrupt and have horizontal stripes along the width of the image.
Last day i made a massive rename operation at all my DNG files with Bridge in order to reflect the capture date and hour in the filename. Then when i synchronize the Lightroom catalog all the develop adjustments was whipped-out.
There are any thing i can do to recover de adjustments?
Why does an image that has been altered by Lightroom cause the RAW Converter to open when trying to view it in Photoshop. Perhaps this might work; if I import, enhance and convert a RAW image in Lightroom to a jepg image it will open in Photoshop without issue. However if I then alter the jpeg image in Lightroom, update the Metadata and try to view it in Photoshop it cause the Photoshop's RAW Converter to open. Is the alter image's information held in a side car file (xmp) that can'r be read by Photoshop? If so would I need to re-export, (convert), the image again in Lightroom to embedd the changes thus making sure it could be read by all the various programs that are available to view images. As is I send photographs to newspapers and print houses it is important for me to know if they would be receiving fully adjusted images or only the adjustments that were made prior to converting from RAW to jpeg. Just in case...I am new to Lightroom.
The main develop module controls have disappeared from the develop window. How do I recover them? I'm working with Lightroom 5.3. The missing controls are the sliders for exposure, contrast, clarity, etc. I must have inadvertantly clicked something that made them disappear but nothing I've tried brings them back. I've never had this experience in the years I've been using Lightroom (since version 1.1).
I have a Fuji X-e1 and the latest update of LR 4.4 running on 10.6.8, 16GB RAM, all OS software up to date.
The problem is my Fuji RAW files don't show the correct lens profile in the Develop module. The only choice available to choose is for Fuji X100 (which I've never owned or shot). The metadata in the Library module is correct for both the lens and camera, and also shows correctly in Bridge.
However, with the same software on a friend's Macbook Pro -- also 10.6.8, LR 4.4, etc. -- the lens profile correctly allows for the X-e1 and 18mm lens auto-correction.
I uninstalled LR on the desktop using an uninstaller called Zap It, downloaded 4.4, reinstalled and still the same 'error'.
I have had pink stripes occur on four different downloads on LR4. I have been an Aperture user for several years and was making the switch to LR4 but growing concerned with this issue and need to know what is causing it before I continue down this path. I have never had this occur before in Aperture. My hard drive is relatively new, my memory and storage is fine. I did switch to a different card reader to see if it would work.
When I move photos from the develop module to the web module they get a garish/reddish look . I want the photos in slide shows to look like they do in the Develop module. How do I do that?
I have various collections and the files for the corresponding photos are on an external drive ("Samsung", see screenshot). How can I direct LR to source the files from that external drive?
Why I can't export my photo's into DNG files? I don't see my pictures anymore, only DNG-graphics show up when I try to export them in DNG. My client needs the DNG versions today for his new website!!!
I had a second shooter for a wedding who uses Nikon (I'm Canon) and now I'm trying to rename her files in LR 1.3 Library mode and I get the following message:"Some photos will not be renamed because they are missing or not writable."I know they are not missing because I have them and have edited and worked on them in LR, so that leaves "not writable."What does that mean and what do I have to do to be able to rename these files?I've never had this problem before (she worked another wedding for me and gave me .NEF files and I had no problem).
PS: I know I need to change over to LR3, but right now I'm still in LR 1.3 until I can upgrade.
I installed Lightroom 4 on my laptop a couple of months ago. Since then I’ve had to replace laptops so my computer support person backed up what I’d done on Lightroom and reinstalled the software on my new laptop (which I just received yesterday).
Under the folder section when I view my Galapagos photos, on each photo there is a statement saying “The file named ‘May 2012, Galapagos, Jude (photo #).JPG’ is offline or missing.” This statement is also on the photos in the collection section. As I’ve spent many hours in the development module I don’t want to lose what I’ve done.
I did have a '?' on the impacted folder but that's not there anymore. I had right-clicked on the '?' and attempted to locate the missing folder. The folder name is now lightroom and I can't rename it!
I'm using 5.3 with OS 10.8.5. Out of the blue I cannot import photos. I've experienced two things: at first the application would seemingly hang-up indefinitely as if were going to import, but nothing happened. I tried importing everything on the card (100~ images) and just one photo. Now I'm getting the following message:
The following files were not imported because they could not be read. (1)
I've restarted my computer, tried running only LIghtroom, etc.
I am having a new issue with my Lightoom (4) Suddenly, every time I try to upload photos into Lightroom, I get a "Files Cannot be Read" message. I have never had this problem before. SOmetimes it will upload a few out of the bunch, but not all of them. I have tried to change all my permissions settings to "Read & Write" but am still not having any luck. It seems that it works sometimes, but mostly not.
When I resize and export my RAW files to JPG in Lightroom 4, my photos with hight ISO (1600-6400) picks up noise. Same photo export without resize is ok.
