Lightroom :: How To Import Photographs From External Hard Drive To 4.1
Aug 18, 2012I am trying to import photographs from an external hard drive to LR4.1. The photos appear to come over ok and be available as long as the external hard drive is connected. Once it's disconnected, however, the photos are still in LR, but each has a line that says "The file named XXXX is offline or missing." What do I need to do to ensure that the photos are moved to the right place in LR so the entire file will be there, without the external hard drive connected?

Feb 9, 2013I am trying to import photographs from a SD card shot on Nikon D600. LR keeps saying "Preview unavailable", and that it doesn't recognise the raw format.
I have tried downloading images from card via a recovery programme and filed them on desktop in separate folder, then tried to import from the folder. Still no success.

Jan 25, 2014All photographs collection contains more photos than in folders - (Using LR 4) There are about 6k more photos that are in my catalog (All Photographs) than what is showing up in my folders below. All of my photos are located on an external hard drive. I have them organized by year. So for example, if in LR I click on 'All Photographs' in the library module, I can see hundreds of photos from 2009. I can also see all these photos on my external hard drive under the 2009 folder. However , these photos do not show up under the folders in LR. I've tried 'synchronizing' my folder in LR, but it thinks all of the photos are duplicates, since they are indeed already in the catalog (just not the folder)

May 23, 2012I am currently making virtual copies of all my photographs converting them to black & white I am then choosing which one to keep. If I keep the original no problem, I can remove the virtual copy however if I choose the virtual copy I have to keep the original copy or export the virtual one. Jul 31, 2013When I use a keyword to find a collection of photographs, I then want to be able to select a subset of them based on ratings, say all 4 stars or above. But when I try to do that, Lightroom displays all photos with 4 stars or above, not just the ones with that keyword. Earlier versions of lightroom handled this well. Is this ever going to be fixed or is there another way to do this.

Lightroom :: Flags Don't Show Up In All Photographs When Flagged In Collection?
Dec 29, 2011I have a catalog of an event which spanned over a few days, and so I made a few collections. I made collection sets for Day 1, Day 2, etc, and in those collection sets I have two folders - General and People.

When I enter say, the General collection for Day 3 and I flag a photo in there as 'rejected', the photo when viewed in 'All photographs' does not show the Rejected flag.

I can scroll through a bunch of photos while in grid view with the right side slider when I am looking at a folder with 15,000 images or less, but when I click the All Photographs, there is no little slider button. The slider tray is visible, but no button to drag. The catalog has 180,000 images now.

I tried using a text search within my All Photographs which brought up 71,000 images. The slider showed up fine with that many images.

The issue that occurs is after importing images they are adjusted automatically to develop module cross process 1. After dealing with this annoyance for a bit of time I realized that I can not even "RESET ALL" the images to delete the adjustment. In delving into other images that have been in my database for quite some time, I have tried to "RESET ALL", which resets images to CROSS PROCESS 1. I have never set import to automatically adjust.

Mar 13, 2012I just upgraded from LR3.6 to 4.0. When trying to import images the import module freezes for a few minutes and then displays the import screen. However, when selecting a source the program freezes again and eventually crashes.

I had the same issue when upgrading to 3.6 some time ago and then found that disabling some USB controllers solved the problem. This works for LR4 as well. As I don't need all USB connections this is a workable solution, however, disabling controllers should not be necessary to run a program.

Lightroom :: Why Doesn't Auto Import Actually Import Images Into Catalog
May 19, 2012I'm using LR4 with a Canon camera setup (Wind 7 Ultimate). I've got the auto import setting all configured with an incoming folder and destination. The app recognizes when an image is put in incoming folder and in fact it moves it to the destination folder. What is really annoying is that it leaves me at the import settings dialog and then I have to make all these choices as I would if I were manually importing.

Shouldn't the images be places in the desination folder and some view of that image be displayed in LR? It could be the folder view or ideally I want to see the last image imported at 1:1 size so I can review it and see if I want to take another shot? Maybe there is some flag I've got set incorrectly.
Lightroom :: Previous Import Count - Auto Import
Dec 21, 2011I use Auto Import to import my RAW files. Each time LR imports my files the Previous Import count number increases. Is there a way to reset this count so it shows a true reflection of the photos from my previous import session?

Correct me if I'm wrong but if you manually import files the Previous Import count number resets itself automatically. I've Googled this problem & this question has been asked before - all users were utilising Auto Import.
Lightroom :: Import Images Grayed Out - No Import Option
Jan 17, 2011I'm trying to import photos into LR3.3, and the thumbnails are grayed out, as is the import button. The photos come from two other cameras -- one Canon Elf, the other I'm not sure. I received them through dropbox, and they open fine with Bridge and Photoshop CS4.

Feb 5, 2006I use the Magnetic Lasso in CS to guide a line along the edge of the backdrop between the ground and the sky. It takes time and can be a pain if there are trees. Then I create another layer and place in a more agreeable sky.
Question. Is this the only way to effect the solution to the problem above. I have tried the magic wand and in reality it is more of a problem.

Feb 12, 2006I have an Epson 2200, Photoshop CS2, monitor calibrated with Spyder PRO, using epson profiles to print on a given media, followed the directions on www.computer-darkroom.com. My prints aren't even clsoe to what I see on the screen. I have no idea what else to try. Colors are completly washed out and the print is significantly darker, making the shadow areas loose their details.

The image is 2560 x 1920 pixels, when i check image size in photoshop the image is 90.31 cm x 67.73 cm. The image is opening at this size by default, as i have been using a 5mg pixel camera to take the photograph.
Using the bicubic sharpen option I am simply reducing the image size to 60cm x 45cm, but when i am printing off test strips, there is still alot of pixelation.
I would presume that because i am reducing the size of the image that there would be less pixelation but this doesnt seem to be the case. Is there anything that i am doing wrong or could do to ammend this?
Is there any other way of reducing the size of the image, while still retaining the quality?
