since I can't seem to find any definitive information on this... how's Lighroom 4 dealing with 14-bit raw NEF files (coming from a D7000 in this case) when it is converting to DNG? Is the entire 14-bit colour information being kept or is there some sort of loss or conversion going on?
I have done some heavy editing on my RAW file with numerous Adjustments Brushes and Spot Removals. Now that I'm done I want to try making a Black And White version using the standard B&W conversion in LR 5.3. Here comes the strange part....the area that I have done all the editing in remains in color while the rest of the shot gets converted to B&W. In other words, LR 5.3 fails to convert to B&W on heavily edited areas!? As you can see in the image the top left area is blue wihle the rest of the image has been converted.
I recently converted from PC to Mac; downloaded and installed LR4, and it quickly recognized my photos and photo folder structure. Also, apparently each individual keyword has been imported. However, 3 problems:
1. no photos have keywords assigned to them 2. the keyword nested structure (keywords within other keywords) did not transfer, so they are all listed alphabetically 3. I don't see any history on the edited photos, so am not sure if I have originals (unedited) or edited. If I have edited photos, can I go back and re-edit (non-destructive editing in LR)?
My Ricoh GR creates DNG files that have previews in the Finder. But because the file sizes are big (and I don't need them so big), in Lightroom I reconvert them to Lossy DNG (using compatibility with Camera Raw 7.1 or later). Now, after this conversion, these new DNGs don't have any previews in the Finder anymore.
So, the problem must be with the DNG converter in Lightroom!
Converted this morning to LR 4 and hundreds of my developed photos in all Collections now have purple streaks / banding / ghosting. I did not update to the 2012 developing engine so the same LR 3 sliders are still there. I tried a few of them with the new engine and new sliders and the purple banding is still there, and I could not adjust them away except to slide the tint slider to the left, which is a bad effect (makes the photos green). This is probably happening in one of ten photos. . I went back to LR 3 and the shots are perfectly developed.
converting GPS data created in Aperture 3 to the images so that I can pull this information into Lightroom 4 (which I'm currently under the 30 day trial period but despirately wanting to change to!).
I have a Nikon J2 Camera. It is set to take photographs and store them on the card as NEF files these cannot at the moment be converted to be read by my Version of Adobe CS4 Photoshop. How can I upgrade my software to enable me to read these files?
Lightroom 4 just converted all my images from LR3. The problem is that I can't look up anything in the "All Photographs" catalog. Although all photos are available in the folders below, all the collections are intact, the All Photographs catalog shows 30K images, and all other functions seem normal, clicking on it shows a blank screen with this message:Click "import..." button to beginBegin what? The import button takes you to the normal import screen with "source" as being the first step. Does it want me to pick all the photographs that are already in the catalog, so that it can... import them? The catalog already has all this information. Right now the only way I can do a search on the catalog is to do it from a folder or collection. I need to search the entire catalog!
MAc Pro, Mac OS 10.6.8, Lightroom 4.0, Photoshop CS6
I a thinking of upgrading my LR to the new 5. I was able to try Irdient new upgrade for X-Trans and my file are so much more crisp and detailed then they are in LR with your support for the X-Trans. Are you going to upgrade you support to match those of Irdient. I am sure you have read the reviews and have used the product for your own edificaiton. If you are not, I may have to switch, my business depends on my best product.
I am converting my proprietary RAW files on my hardrive and LR4 catalogue to DNG files for the main reason of gaining extra space on my hard drive. I have ticked the 'delete original files after successful conversion' and they no longer appear on my hard drive, only the DNG files do but the space remaining on my hard drive is shrinking? Why is my drive not reading the extra space that should be now available?
One of the great features of the Sony NEX-7 is that the NEX-7 makes automatic lens corrections for vignetting, chromatic aberration and distortion problems. These corrections are written to the file and the preview. However, when converting these images from ARW to DNG the correction data seems to be lost, and the images revert to their uncorrected state. This requires all images to then be re corrected with the Adobe lens profiles, which is both tedious, an extra step, and also seems to produce results that are somewhat less optimal than the original corrections made by the camera.
Should not the ACR Converter and Lightroom retain the lens corrections made by the camera?
export a MAX file into OBJ or STL. The reason I can't do it is that the file doesn't open for me in 2010 or 2011. In the 2012 version, I get an Out-of-memory error. Am guessing because the original file has been done in the 3DS Max 2012 64-bit version. So if you can do this odd job, am willing to pop 25 USD for the same.
I recently switched from a Dell PC to a Mac and wondered if there is an exchange program or an upgrade change to keep from having to buy a whole new copy for the Mac.
I have a need to convert about 14000 .dwg files to jpg, gif or bitmap for display on the web. Are there any good automated ways of doing this. We have a database that contains the drawing names and directory locations I wish to use this for converting all of the drawings.
I use CS3, 3gb of Ram and more then 50mb of free hard disk space.
When I convert a Raw image to Jpg the file size is reduced but opened in CS3 the Image size appears unchanged. What is the correlation between image and file size? I thought the Image Size was the horizontal number of pixels x the vertical. If this is correct and the jpg has less pixels how can CS3 show it as having the same image size? in addition what is the use of Image Size other than to indicate the print size at a given resolution?
Opening Nikon D300 jpg image (Bridge CS3/file/open with/photoshop) does a sRGB->aRGB conversion. Why?
The D300 metadata shows Color Mode RGB and Color Profile sRGB IEC61966-2.1 so that looks good. PS Color settings/Working Spaces/RGB is set for aRGB and Color Settings/Color Management Polices/RGB is set for Preserve Embedded Profiles (and the three check boxes are checked). I expected the sRGB embedded profile to be preserved but that isn't the case.
I like to use LAB fairly often and have done so in CS2 with no trouble. I'm on Windows XP Pro, 1 gb RAM.
Now that I've loaded CS3, same image converts to black. All over black. Edge to edge black. I mean BLACK!
All channels are active (L, a, b). No mask is in effect. My working space is ProPhoto.
If I convert it back to RGB, the image is still there.
What's going on here with CS3? I've done the usual color settings. I've deleted my preferences.
Also, when loading PSCS3, a message always pops up saying "there must be at least one document open to run this script!" Don't know where that comes from either. I'm not trying to run any script, just opening Photoshop?
I'm thinking I'd better uninstall CS3 and start over. Before doing so, though,
I usually come across this situation where i have to convert PDF to DWG. now i do it with underlay and trace it approx. Is there any converter for this purpose?
I want a software to convert PDF to DWG/DXF with relative amount of accuracy.
I have recently switched to shoot my photos in RAW format. I do the usual adjustments in Camera Raw and the hit "Open Image". Next is that I save my image as JPEG with the Maximum Quality. Once I look at my saved JPEG file though I find that most of them have a lot of noise and seem not to reflect any adjustments that I did to the RAW file.
I work in a school district that is running an old version of Adobe Photoshop CS3 in a Macintosh environment. The Macs are old 10.4.11 machines that would not print. So, I set up a Windows Server with Macintosh accessible folders and copied files to this server. I then had newer Windows 7 client machines available and copied the files over to their client machines. Some of the files came over to Windows as CS3, but others didn't. They show up as "File" in the format and not as CS3. Is there a workaround for this, or another way to get these files to Windows?
Have been reading thread that one had posted about converting PSD to JPEG. From what I have read, seems as though no matter what you can not replicate the image you have created as PSD. I have worked on a photo that was taken on my BB and to my pleasant surprise have been able to correct several issues. I believe it looks so much better because of flattening and 16bit application.
Must say color, focus(originally was terribly out of focus) everything is great. However, cannot covert and keep the work I have already done with Photoshop. Can I convert to JPEG or any other format that allows sharing without sacrificing what I have as PSD ?
I am working with a .jpg(rgb) straight off of a camera, I have converted it to CMYK as this is a photograph that is going to be submitted and printed and they want it CMYK , obviously.
Now I am aware that CMYK isn't as 'colourful' as RGB so I understand that.. Only when I save my photograph and open it, it is completely different to the photoshop file. COMPLETELY! And even when I reopen it in photoshop it is different.. See the image/attachment below is Photoshop vs Just open...
I have tried just the simple Save As > .jpg Save for Web as Jpg Save for Web as Png they are all doing the same?
I have a multitude of old edits with the ext .pspimage. I have googled and tried the 2 most likely options I found with no success, is there any way to open them in CS6. I would like to convert them and save them as .psd. There must be a way surely.
I recently photographed a set of pastels in raw. The body of work has been reviewed and the final color balance has been approved by the artist. I now need to export the images from their raw files to CMYK. to provide for offset printing. Adobe provides a number of options. I am completely lost on the options to select.
I have finished a logo for my friend Bob in Corel Draw X4. Made it in CMYK color mode. Used 3 nuances of green color previously given to me vith RGB values. My Corel change it to CMYK. I sent the file to Bob.
He has Corel Draw X5. When he opened the file and checked the CMYK values he was surprised because they were different from mine.
I immediately found an on-line RGB to CMYK converter to check which data is more valid when i got totally different CMYK values. Now i am truly worried and don't know what to think.
I need to convert AVCHD footage to 1280x720 MOV (qt) files. VSX2 via create a video file, and VSX3 can do this via video file creation and batch conversion as well. The problemis that I can't find any setting to get the bitrate of the MOV files under contol. VSX2 generates files with very high bitrates, VSX3 with low bitrate, and when I select "check data rate" in the advanced options settings for the MOV file, I get a prompt at every new file start (and I have many files) like " the bitrate exeeds the settings...do you want to continiue" .
I have Canon HD camcorder, when i import to my PC it is .mts file. I edit my .mts file using X4 Video Studio, Now i want to make DVD, which format i should select for best result with compress size ?
I tried DVD 4:3 then my video quality is goes down, and if i select DVD 16:9 then file size is increase much, which format i should select to keep file size low or same with same video quality.
