Sometimes my fingers slips on certain shortcuts, but this one changed my background and paper to all white. And I can't change it back to paper being white and background being dark grey. I make a new document and it is still all white but now it shows the paper border.
View 5 RepliesNo matter how I set the interface preferences, when I make a new artboard, that artboard is white.
The brain-dead workaround to this is to put a rectangle the colour I want on a locked background layer and make it the same size as my artboard, but this turns "Shift+O, drag" into "Shift+O, drag, M, drag, set desired fill colour, deselect rectangle, restore previous fill colour and tool and selection."
It seems like there should be an interface option somewhere that lets me set the colour of new artboards, but the only guidance I can find on setting the artboard colour says to use "simulate coloured paper." Simulating coloured paper is not setting the colour of your artboard. It is simulating the way ink always lets some of the paper colour show through.
I do not want my artboard to show through. I simply want it to be a different colour. When I press Shift+O and drag out a new artboard, I want that artboard to be the same colour. If I decide I would like a different colour, I want to change a single setting somewhere and have the colours of all artboards in the document change at once.
I cannot find any setting for this in the interface. Am I missing something, or is it just not there?
I have a simple illustrator document with some text on it. The text is green. I wish to add additional text to the document in the exact shade of green that the current text is in. Believe it or not, I can't figure out how to do this. I can select the text I want to to be green and select a colour from the swatches menu, but the shades of green available there are not the exact shade of green that I need. I tried selecting my newly written text, click the eye dropper tool, and then clicked on my old text (which is in the shade of green that I want) but this frustratingly changes the font of my newly written text to the same font as the original text, without changing it's colour.
View 16 Replies View RelatedI open an older document from an unknown source. A warning pops up that I have no substitute for the font, which is Helvetica90ms-RKSJ-H. I go to the "change font" window but am unable to substitute this font for the one on my system, which is Adobe Helvetica. If I try change the character style options default, it defaults right back to Helvetica90ms-RKSJ-H. If I manually change each bit of text (there are dozens in each document, and 200 documents), then copy/paste the fonts into a new document, the new document becomes corrupted and I can no longer choose the font on my system (Adobe Helvetica).
I have even tried an interim method of copy/pasting, by copying to the Windows notepad. That should lose any and all formatting. But when I copy it back to the Illustrator document, it becomes corrupted with Helvetica90ms-RKSJ-H.

It's supposed to be a bright orange and but it turns dark when painting.
I am having trouble with the Paste in Front/Back function. I will copy my selected layers and then want to paste them in place on the selected artboard next to it and often times it pastes it back on the artboard where it copies from. Sometimes the function does what I want, but often times it pastes in a different location, either on the same artboard, or next to the artboard where I want it pasted. It also tends to slightly move the X and Y values (again, sometimes). Each time I go to paste, I am creating a new layer and selecting the artboard where I want everything pasted, but sometimes it works, and other times it doesn't. I am using CS5 on MacBook Pro.

How do I see the object selected change colour dynamically as I adjust the colour sliders?
It seems the object only changes colour when I release the slider. But I want to see it dynamically change, so I can find the colour that works best without "hit or miss" - "trial and error" behaviour.

How can I change my Editor default back to Elements 8? When I downloaded a trial version of Elements 11, my default changed to version 11. I use Adobe Lightroom, and when I switch over to Elements using "Edit In", it automatically open Elements 11 now.

View 3 Replies View Relatedjust upgraded from 2004 to 2012. Wow, sure looks different.I'm playing around with the ribbon & don't know how to stop an annoying behavior. I position the ribbon locked to the side of my display because I have a wide screen & if docked to the top I end up with a very wide, skinny drawing area. when ever I make a change tp the ribbon contents it goes back to the default top position, after which I have to relocate it again. Is there a way to get it to remember the previous position of the ribbon?

I can change the option but if I click off the image the options go back to grey scale. The doc colour set up is cmyk. View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm currently working on a project which involves over 16 artboards in the same document, though when i want to change the order of the artboards [for saving as a PDF] i have to move all my artboards content to new artboard, etc.etc. This is really annoying, especially when i want to insert a new artboard between some excisting ones.
So is it possible to somehow change the order of the artboards, or they numbers [basically the same]?
Is there a way to take a document that has multiple artboards and adjust all of these sizes without selecting them one at a time?

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy background in Corel 5 is no longer white. It is a light yellow or cream & is very hard on my eyes Windows update downloaded an update for my monitor (Samsung SyncMaster 2233) & printer. When I opened Corel 5, I was asked what colour management I wanted, I did not know. I believe I selected "monitor based" or something like that, the way the question was, made me believe I was choosing the same setting as before. Obiviously wrong. Using Corel draw 5 help I selected "page background" picked solid: choose white but did not change. I then choose "no background" but did not change.
I have restarted corel 5 to no avail.
I'm currently using my created brush and when I try to use the basic brush, it immediately jumps back to my created brush with it's stroke size.
Align to pixel grid is turned off so it cant ber that.
I used to resolve this problem (when I was actually trying to keep using my created brush when it was reverting back to basic brush) but I would resolve it by double clicking on the designated brush in the brushes palette.
Also seeing as were on the subject of brushes, nop matter how I adjust the firmness/ pressure both in the driver setting of my wacom and for the brush in illustrator, I see no difference?

As I recall, you used to be able to change the artboard size when you first hit shift + O. There was a window for it at the top of the screen. Now,..for some reason that option is not there. It only gives me the ability to change the x and y coordinates. I have to double click the artboard tool to change the size of the artboard(s). How do I get back that ability?
is it possible to change the background color [outside the artboard] to a dark grey? because i really dont like having a big white screen while working in illustrator.when you normally work in illustrator, the artboard is indicated by a black border line but when you select the artboard editor tool, the background changes to dark grey, so it is possible and that is the effect im looking for, but then permanently.is it possible to do this via the preferences somewhere, or via a hack?
View 13 Replies View RelatedI'm sure this is mind-numbingly obvious and I am overlooking it, but when I go to use the rotate tool, the center point of the rotation is defaulting to the center of the artboard, not the selected group of objects. How do I change that to default to rotating on the selection center by default?
PS. This is Illustrator CC (17.0.2) on a Mac running 10.9, if that is relevant.
1.) I dragged out vertical and horizontal guides from the rulers and then created a new art board. The new art board now has the horizontal guides carried over from the first art board. How can I have separate guides on each of my art boards? I am using art board rulers.
2.) Is there a way to layout vertical and horizontal guides on an art board and copy them over to a new blank art board?
i have around 500 eps formats images with different artboard size.
i need to resize the artboard to A4 size and the images to be placed in the centre of the artboard.
I just started using 2012. Two problems:
1- Somehow, in my current drawing, everything is layer-locked. There are no Xrefs in this very basic drawing. All layers are unlocked. Yet, any attempt to select any entities results in "x objects were on a locked layer". Again, all layers are unlocked. No Xrefs. No blocks. Just simple lines. All entities appear faded. This happened after viewing a layout in both paper and model spaces. Reviewing the text window shows no strange accidental commands.
2- There is a default set of viewport scales in the status bar at the bottom right. Default scales are all metric. I would like both metric and imperial. I see you can edit which exact scales are in a metric list, and which are in an imperial list. But how do you set what is displayed/available in the status bar button?

View 2 Replies View RelatedOne of my Illustrator CS6 documents was intially created some time ago without paying much attention to colour management issues. I am now trying to put that right and have assigned the document a profile of Adobe RGB (i998). However, each time I open it I am warned that 'The document has an embedded color profile that does not match the current RGB working space'. It also says that the embedded profile is sRGB, while my working space is Adobe RGB. I get this message three times and am assuming that it refers to embedded objects.
Do I have to reimport all items that may have a colour profile, having first ensured that they are tagged as AdobeRGB?
When I set C to 40% and MYK to 0% the program automatically change to other values in all four columns. Is it some kind of default settings? If so, how can I change it?
