Illustrator :: Change Artboard X And Y Origins In CS6
May 22, 2012Is it possible to change the artboard origins to always be 0,0 (top left corner), and not relative to the first artboard in a document?

View 5 RepliesNo matter how I set the interface preferences, when I make a new artboard, that artboard is white.
The brain-dead workaround to this is to put a rectangle the colour I want on a locked background layer and make it the same size as my artboard, but this turns "Shift+O, drag" into "Shift+O, drag, M, drag, set desired fill colour, deselect rectangle, restore previous fill colour and tool and selection."
It seems like there should be an interface option somewhere that lets me set the colour of new artboards, but the only guidance I can find on setting the artboard colour says to use "simulate coloured paper." Simulating coloured paper is not setting the colour of your artboard. It is simulating the way ink always lets some of the paper colour show through.
I do not want my artboard to show through. I simply want it to be a different colour. When I press Shift+O and drag out a new artboard, I want that artboard to be the same colour. If I decide I would like a different colour, I want to change a single setting somewhere and have the colours of all artboards in the document change at once.
I cannot find any setting for this in the interface. Am I missing something, or is it just not there?
How do I change the color of my artboard?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm new to CS4 Illustrator, and have not been able to find out how to change the artboard color. How to do this?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm currently working on a project which involves over 16 artboards in the same document, though when i want to change the order of the artboards [for saving as a PDF] i have to move all my artboards content to new artboard, etc.etc. This is really annoying, especially when i want to insert a new artboard between some excisting ones.
So is it possible to somehow change the order of the artboards, or they numbers [basically the same]?
Is there a way to take a document that has multiple artboards and adjust all of these sizes without selecting them one at a time?

As I recall, you used to be able to change the artboard size when you first hit shift + O. There was a window for it at the top of the screen. Now,..for some reason that option is not there. It only gives me the ability to change the x and y coordinates. I have to double click the artboard tool to change the size of the artboard(s). How do I get back that ability?
is it possible to change the background color [outside the artboard] to a dark grey? because i really dont like having a big white screen while working in illustrator.when you normally work in illustrator, the artboard is indicated by a black border line but when you select the artboard editor tool, the background changes to dark grey, so it is possible and that is the effect im looking for, but then permanently.is it possible to do this via the preferences somewhere, or via a hack?
View 13 Replies View RelatedSometimes my fingers slips on certain shortcuts, but this one changed my background and paper to all white. And I can't change it back to paper being white and background being dark grey. I make a new document and it is still all white but now it shows the paper border.
View 5 Replies View Related1.) I dragged out vertical and horizontal guides from the rulers and then created a new art board. The new art board now has the horizontal guides carried over from the first art board. How can I have separate guides on each of my art boards? I am using art board rulers.

i have around 500 eps formats images with different artboard size.
i need to resize the artboard to A4 size and the images to be placed in the centre of the artboard.
I'm a vb.net developer and i've a project to do for my job (my company is building laser machines). So i have to use autocad for drawing and, inside autocad, add a vb.net project to transfer all coordinates to a laser.
There's no problem for the most of object, but i've some difficulties with the hatch. I explain.
I can get the coordinates for hatching with the " . explose " (it gave me lines and after that, i can have all the points x and y)
But i need to "Rotate the hatch" (for making some sorts of holes in metal by example)
(Ex : Hatch angle start at 0 degrees, then 45, then 90, etc... etc...)
How can i rotate this hatch in vb.net ? (The hatch must not change on the autocad screen, so i use a clone for getting lines). I've find a method for getting the pattern angle (ex : MyHatch.patternAngle) but it returns me strange angle (like 0,00812 etc...)
And a other problem is that the origins of hatch angle seems based on 0,0 (so, when i change angle, it change from 0,0 and not the center of the Hatch)
Is it possible to have the origin (or workpoints, planes, axis) of each view to show up when a IDW is exported to a DWG? They show in the IDW but not in the DWG.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm on inventor 2012 and I've not used it in a whlie. I thought I remembered in an assembly there was an origin indicator for each part in an assebly or a way to turn it on. I know I can turn planes and axes on in the origin folder but it would be quicker to just glance at a triad at the part origin. There's a similar command in MAYA called display local rotation axes.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a big artboard with a simulation of a webpage, and a smaller artboard within it, where I'm designing the artwork, so that I know how the big picture will look. In the end, I intend to export the contents of the small artboard. The problem is that whenever I click by accident on the small artboard, my view of the web page gets off-centre.So in short, If I could just lock the small artboard, that would solve this annoyance. For now, I have two options: either delete the artboard and set it back in the end (it's got to be perfeclty positioned though) or, quite practically, just create a custom view with a shortcut that I can use instead of the "Actual size" one (Cmd+1).

View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm designing some business cards, which have an 1/8" bleed, along with elements that hang outside of the border of the card. Is there a way in Illustrator CS3 that I can say, "hide everything outside of the Artboard" so I can see what the finished product will look like?
I know I could print them out or output to PDF and see it without the non-Artboard items, but these approaches seem clumsy and labor intensive. I'd like it if I could have some sort of "cropped view"--where everything not on the Artboard is hidden--to work in.
I'm finding that when i add a second artboard to an existing ai, then save and close, it has disappeared on reopening.
I have both pieces of artwork (one for each page), but 1 of the artboards will have disappeared. Irritatingly the remaining artboard sits between the 2 pieces of artwork - in the wrong position for both!!!
I am struggling with the "sAIArtSet->MatchingArtSet()" in restricting it to find the artset from the selected artboard only.
One way is to iterate through the found art set and compare art's artboard index with the index of the selected artboard. Wanted to know if there is some internal SDK suite which does this iteration in a more optimized way ?
Illustrator cs5 will not export to artboard, even though the artboard is properly set and "Use artboards" is clicked in export dialogue box.
Bleed areas are set and crop marks, all of which print fine. But I want to export to jpeg just to see how the cropped output will look.
I have tried googling this and am able to save each artboard as a jpg but not as an eps or ai file.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI need to get rid of the black border around the artboard. The two images show my drawing lined up with the art board and then inside the artboard. The dark gray is not the artboard.
As you see, the artboard has a black border. I need to get rid of it. It shows up in my project when my color key is green. The black won't go to transparent.
So how-to get rid of the border?
I figured it out. View > Hide Artboards.
when I try to rearrange artboards most of the content doesn't move with it.How do I change the content to be associated with a specific artboard?

When saving for web or exporting an artboard is there any way to pre-populate the save file name dialog box with the artboard's given name. It would save having to re-name the file and make good use of that metadata.
View 4 Replies View RelatedWe currently use CS3 in our Art Dept at the sign company I work for. Sometimes designing/layout for some projects can be a pain when they go beyond the max artboard size constraint in CS3. This is especially true in my dept which does all the large format digital printing. I find myself having to switch back and forth between some of my sign software, which has almost limitless area for design and layout. Not that we can't work in scales but life would be so much easier if we could do things in full scale. Now to the point, does CS4 have larger artboard size than CS3?
View 7 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to size without Illustrator CS6 rounding up? example, I need my document to be 3.625 x 2.125" to output a file to a printer and illustrator keeps rounding up to the third decimal 3.63, Is there any way around this? I found going back to CS3 works but all my files have conversion issues opening that far back.
