AutoCad 2D :: Ctrl+V Origin Not At Bottom Left Corner
Dec 17, 2013Normally, when you select an object or a group of objects and you go to copy it/them with Ctrl+V (NOT Ctrl+Shift+V), AutoCAN'T will use the bottom left extents of the object(s) as the base point for what you are pasting. For whatever reason, when I select+copy+paste an object, the base point/origin/whatever you want to call it, is way off and not even near any of the objects.
How can I reset this?

Sep 24, 2009When turning on rulers, the default for the X axis is the left.
This is as should be and makes sense.
But why is the default for the Y axis the bottom? Shouldn't be the top? After all, other language versions, etc., aside, we're talking lets say :
Left to right, top to bottom flow of content and sight.
So why on earth would the Y axis start from the bottom and go up?

Dec 10, 2012It appears that the origin of objects is the center of the bounding box of the object. Is it possible to set the origin of objects to be the top left of the bounding box? It is possible to specify coordinates for paths this way.

In the past I was able to go into the Adobe Illustrator setting and change some code so when I double clicked in the left corner of the ruler it would switch my origin to lower left. Now there is nothing in the setting folder because this program is on the cloud.

I am coming from AI CS4. In AI CS4 when you would open or creat a new document, your X Y origin would alway start on the lower left hand side.
Now when you open a new document in CS 6 the origin starts in the uper right. If I hand drag the ruler down to the lower left, the Y coordinant reads as a negative number.

But since the text frames were extracted by create order, not by layout, I want to ajust the oder from top left to bottom right first, then export.
I thought it could be done by selecting all the text frames first, then sorting the selection orders by loop. But I don't know how to select all the text frames, and not sure whether this is the right way...

Mar 15, 2011I must have hit the wrong key somewhere along the line. Until yesterday,, the ruler on the top and the left side of the canvas was in inches.. now it is in ???? Starts on the left with 0 and ends on the right with 3400 !

Jul 17, 2009I use a PC and have Illustrator CS4. When I open AI, the rulers do not appear. I have saved my workspace with them showing, but when I open that workspace, they do not appear. I have to go up to View>Show Rulers (or do the shortcut). I know this is extremely minor, but my rulers appear in ID CS4, so I'm wondering why I can't set AI to do that, too. It's like having to plug in your keyboard every day...you just want it to be ready to go when you get ready to work.
