I am trying to get hollow letters in a solid box.
I used a font called swiss 721 blkouI bt which is hollow.
I made a solid red box.
The letters seem to go behind the box and not in it........ I know layering might be a factor, however I am now on my 2nd week of autocad......?
I import sequences into illustrator composed of hundreds of text letters. How do I make text bold many letters at a time? I can do one letter at a time but I need to do 20-30 at a time.

I thought I might be able to do this with the blob brush at least, but it doesn't seem to let me draw with a stroke and fill set.
Bellow is a visual of what I'd like to achieve:
I did this by first drawing a line, then outlining the stroke, but the point is I want to be able to draw lines like this as I go, not constantly convert to outlines...
I need some instructions on how to make the small hollow hole on the tag shown in the pic below in illustrator.

View 9 Replies View RelatedCS6. I have this logo, red circle w/white letters and superscript 2. It's going to be printed on light gray fabric. I assume that I need to make transparent canvas and transparent letters (lu) so that it takes the gray color of the fabric and not the white background and letters of my file but when I rasterize type, save and open it again I cannot edit.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI am, using Ai (CS6). I've produced a poster I'm fairly happy with, but black background is affecting red and green type on top of the black...
Possibly one hint towards a solution is that I have one photo with a transparency and the lettering that is on top of that transparency isn't affected by the black background.
The transparency was started by creating a cut-out of a mugshot in Ps CS6, using the magnetic tool, previously creating a transparent background layer.
Anyway, the long and the short is, if a tiff photo transparent background can keep out the black background, how can I create a transparent layer with similar properties.
Is there an easy way in Illustrator to add strokes inside letters to get an effect something like this? I know you can just draw the lines, but it never looks quite right.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI need a script for Illustrator CS6, that...
1. Opens a dialog where I enter a letter, like "A".
2. Script then check the current layer for text with this letter, and "unview" (opacity = 0 or color=white), all other letters on this layer. So that the layer will only show "A", or "a" and no other type of letter. The script needs to check all text objects, some "a"s will be in objects consisting of several other letters also, like sentances. Script needs to find the letter in these and mute all others.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've a weird problem working with Illustrator CS6. It doesn't happen all the times but sometimes my files name switch from small letters to capital.
For example the file "file.ai" becomes "FILE.AI"
What could be the reason?
I have a strange problem going on for CS6... Where when I created a design, grouped all of them so that they had the same center.. then did a force perspective... Some of the letters didn't render while a wire frame does exist for them.
One friend suggested to make sure all of the points are joined, however when I Ctrl+J them, I get an error that says invalid object... which is most likely because they are joined...
Illustrator applies the subscript effect only to numerical characters, e.g. 1,2,etc. But it does NOT apply it to alphabetical characters, e.g. a, b, c etc. I observe this using the default Myriad Pro font, as well as other fonts.
How do I apply subscript to regular letters (not just numbers)?
p.s. I am using the Ctrl+T menu, then go to OpenType tab and select Subscript under Position setting, and observe the issue above. Am I doing something wrong here?
I am making a sign for my logo. The 'i' in my script face is long and overlaps the following letter which the sign maker's router will not read. So I would like to be able to use the shape builder tool to join the 3 instances where the letter 'i' appears each to the following letter. No luck so far. I have turned the type into points. I have highlighted the first instance, 'i' and 'c'. but the shape builder tool shows a circle with a line through it... not working.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm using Adobe Illustrator CS5.1 in Windows 7. I'm trying to type-set a file and some of the lines of text aren't regularly editable. View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to create a logo whose letters have an image in them - which I've got figured out (turning letters to outlines, creating clipping mask with image). The trouble is, once the image is inside the letters, I can't figure out how to then give the letters a thin stroke outline. Is this possible? The image I've placed is high contrast black and white, so when I create the clipping mask, large chunks of the letters disappear.
