View 9 RepliesI need to create white letters on a transparent background, but don't know how. You can't see white letters on a white background, and if I set the layer to invisible I can't see the letters either.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI need to create a series of "trays" that are in the shape of letters. I am having some success with certain letters, but zero success with others.
I am creating these letters using a curve brought in from illustrator, and sweeping the profile that I want to use around the curve to create the outside.I am then using presspull to create the base of the tray.
However, sometimes the sweep command will simply say "unable to sweep 1 selected object" with no explanation as to why.
Sometimes I will get the shape that I want, but it is facing the wrong way, and I cannot fix it. Other times it will simply stall and then delete both the curve and the profile.
Ok so I used Image Trace on a .jpeg logo. The logo is black rectangle with white text in it. My problem is that when I traced it, the black space became the object and the letters are negative space. Is there a way to turn the letters into objects?

Possibly one hint towards a solution is that I have one photo with a transparency and the lettering that is on top of that transparency isn't affected by the black background.
The transparency was started by creating a cut-out of a mugshot in Ps CS6, using the magnetic tool, previously creating a transparent background layer.
Anyway, the long and the short is, if a tiff photo transparent background can keep out the black background, how can I create a transparent layer with similar properties.
Is there an easy way in Illustrator to add strokes inside letters to get an effect something like this? I know you can just draw the lines, but it never looks quite right.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI need a script for Illustrator CS6, that...
1. Opens a dialog where I enter a letter, like "A".
2. Script then check the current layer for text with this letter, and "unview" (opacity = 0 or color=white), all other letters on this layer. So that the layer will only show "A", or "a" and no other type of letter. The script needs to check all text objects, some "a"s will be in objects consisting of several other letters also, like sentances. Script needs to find the letter in these and mute all others.

For example the file "file.ai" becomes "FILE.AI"
What could be the reason?
I have a strange problem going on for CS6... Where when I created a design, grouped all of them so that they had the same center.. then did a force perspective... Some of the letters didn't render while a wire frame does exist for them.
One friend suggested to make sure all of the points are joined, however when I Ctrl+J them, I get an error that says invalid object... which is most likely because they are joined...
I import sequences into illustrator composed of hundreds of text letters. How do I make text bold many letters at a time? I can do one letter at a time but I need to do 20-30 at a time.
View 2 Replies View RelatedIllustrator applies the subscript effect only to numerical characters, e.g. 1,2,etc. But it does NOT apply it to alphabetical characters, e.g. a, b, c etc. I observe this using the default Myriad Pro font, as well as other fonts.
How do I apply subscript to regular letters (not just numbers)?
p.s. I am using the Ctrl+T menu, then go to OpenType tab and select Subscript under Position setting, and observe the issue above. Am I doing something wrong here?
I am making a sign for my logo. The 'i' in my script face is long and overlaps the following letter which the sign maker's router will not read. So I would like to be able to use the shape builder tool to join the 3 instances where the letter 'i' appears each to the following letter. No luck so far. I have turned the type into points. I have highlighted the first instance, 'i' and 'c'. but the shape builder tool shows a circle with a line through it... not working.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm using Adobe Illustrator CS5.1 in Windows 7. I'm trying to type-set a file and some of the lines of text aren't regularly editable. When selecting a letter it's chopped up in to a bunch of smaller images, thus rendering it impossible to change the font. The customer wants the title on their business card to be un-bolded and I am unable to edit the title. How can I release the type back to an editable form?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to create a logo whose letters have an image in them - which I've got figured out (turning letters to outlines, creating clipping mask with image). The trouble is, once the image is inside the letters, I can't figure out how to then give the letters a thin stroke outline. Is this possible? The image I've placed is high contrast black and white, so when I create the clipping mask, large chunks of the letters disappear.

How to take the Castellar MT font and fill in the blank spaces in the letters with colour? I need to use this font because that's my company's font for their name and I'm trying to design a sign. I have used the blob brush, but I keep getting tiny little specks that look like they're not filled in.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a logo comprised of hand-drawn letters that exist as outlined vectors in my .ai file. I am trying to find out if there is an easy way to make each letter a bit “thinner”. I have been achieving this for digital purposes by adding a stroke to each letter that matches the color of the background it will be used on. This workaround has been effective in getting the look I want but becomes problematic when preparing files for printed applications (t-shirts, stickers, etc.)
Is there an easy way to somehow “thin-out” the letters equivalent to the amount of girth that the stroke appears to take off of each letter?
I choose the vertical type tool or the vertical type on a path tool or the vertical area type tool...and all I get are letters that are rotated 90 degrees clockwise that go down in a vertical line. The effect is the same as if I took one of these lines that I am typeing here and rotated the entire line 90 degrees clockwise. That is not the effect I want. I am tying to get vertical letters stacked on top of one another in a line going vertical. I watched videos and they simply pick the tool and it functions this way, but when I pick the same tool I do not get this vertical orientation of the individual letters, but the 90 degree rotated letter.
