Aug 26, 2009How can I divide a line into equal segments in Illustrator? This is computer software, right? Shouldn't a computer be able to figure how to segment an arbitrary line? I tried turning the line into a sliced object and dividing that, but it didn't seem to work. Pathfinder only works on two or more objects.

Feb 1, 2013I have need of creating a 12" wide (contrasting) carpet border for an area. The main carpet area will have a pattern. The border will be a complementary solid color carpet.I attempted to use Create & Divide Parts to do this, but get strange results.
1. Create Parts > Select Floor.
2. Divide Parts
3. Edit Sketch > draw two closed loops to define the part area.
4. Exit sketch - entire sketch shifts to the right by a foot or so.

Nov 21, 2013In CS5, I created a very handy action that allowed me to, with two paths selected, Divide, Ungroup, and Deselect, resulting in the divided paths without having to do each step manually.
In CS6, for some reason this is no longer possible-- if I try to record the same action, after the divide, everything is automatically deselected and I get a "The object "Ungroup" is not currently available" error. Very frustrating that the new version is more troublesome to use!!
I KNOW that it's possible to do this because I was somehow able to fudge it at one point and get this action to work. But I'm not sure what happened-- maybe a step was deleted in my action or something-- but one day it just stopped working. This action is basically THE function I use most in Illustrator given the way I work, and while it's not a huge step, having to manually reclick, ungroup, and deselect is a huge inconvenience.

i noticed a while ago that the sizes of my documents in photoshop are smaller than normal. Im not sure if this is a resolution issue, but in illustrator, indesign, after effects everything looks normal sized. I am trying to create a thumbnail in ps that is 310x225px. When I place the psd in illustrator it becomes 74.4x54px. Creating a new document in ps with both resolitions 72 and 300 result in the same size artboard. I'm not sure if this is something simple I am overlooking, but I don't want to have pixelated thumbnails in my mockup. There must be something I can change to make photoshop create normally sized images.

The note said to reference chapter 2, which I have already been through, but even after reading the Illustrator Help dialog on pg 75, I am still at a loss. how to distribute this equal spacing of 2 anchors relative to one anchor point?

Aug 1, 2012I'm simply creating a word on an artboard "Item #1" at 90pt bold and centered to the artboard. I now want to copy it a couple of times on the same artboard by holding down alt + shift and dragging beneath it to create new copies of the word with the goal of printing this artboard and using a paper cutter to make evenly cut labels.
1. How do I create a consistent amount of space between each label when I drag each copy down?
2. If I already have the labels on an artboard, how can I space them out so that there is an even amount of space between them?
