Illustrator :: Does Not Display Actual Size Of Objects Selected
Jan 28, 2014I work at a university and have logos shared with me from other designers, most of which are working on Macs and I'm working on a PC. When I open the logo and select all, the size displayed is 227.5417 inches x 227.5417 inches. The last one I received, the actual size of the logo was 2 inches x 1.75 inches. How do I get Illustrator to display the actual size of the logo?

This is Problem with Only line/pline drawn horizontally. Vertically drawn line/pline displays reversed line using reverse command.
Illustrator :: Selected Text Do Not Show?
Aug 8, 2013I received an Illustrator file in which I have to implement a translated text. I see the text cursor, but when I try to select text it disappears and I cannot see how much of a sentence or word is selected. I can delete the selection or write something else in its place, but I am working "blind" without seeing how much of text I selected until I change it or delete it. I see nothing unusual in Preferences. It is the only Illustrator file that behave that way.

Feb 7, 2013Have a document that has several artboards in it. (kinda like a multipage document). Each page is similar, but some of the text boxes has variations from page to page. So if I am zoomed in on page 1 to one text box and I select some text, using the type tool, and then hit SHIFT-page down (or page up) to go to the next page, it won't. Switch to a different tool, and it works.
WHY? Why can't I use a keyboard short cut to jump to another page while in the type tool mode? I don't want to take my hand off the keyboard or move the mouse.

Oct 27, 2013I am currently trying to cut out a word from another word in Illustrator. I have managed to do this several times before but both options I have used in the past simply are not working for me today.
As you can see from the attached image, I have 'cut out' the word 'I'm' from the word 'hungry'. (You can see straight through to what ever colour, fabric etc is underneath the logo).
Today I am trying to update my logo and the usual methods aren't working for me.
1. Type > Create Outlines > Divide
2. Object >Compound Path > Make
Usually I can simply delete the 'cut out' text from the image but I keep receiving an error messages that I don't understand.
1. "The filter cannot complete because more than one object is selected"
2. "Can't make a compound path. All objects in a compound path must be paths, and they cannot be brushed or part of an object."
I am a complete novice and I have never encountered these errors before. What used to be a simple 3 step cut out command is now a nightmare. I must be doing something wrong, maybe I have missed a step and not realised?

Illustrator :: Importing PDF - Text Does Not Display?
Nov 13, 2012I am using Illustrator CS6 on windows 7. I created a document on Illustrator CS4 on mac osx and exported the file to a pdf. Now when I want to edit the pdf in illustrator the images and drawings display correctly, but only certain text is shown. Not any text in particular, but just random lines of text within paragraphs. The rest of the text does not show up at all.

When I have a text layer selected with the type tool active, the font size reads correctly (say, 40px). When I actually select the text with the type tool, the font size gives a strange number (say, 38.74px).

Jan 23, 2009I want to create a path using the circle tool, then put 3 words text around the path, one along the top, and two along the bottom. But I want the text on top going clockwise, and the text on bottom going counter-clockwise, so it isn't upside down and backwards. I put the text on top, and for a moment I had the text tool reversed on bottom, but I lost it and can't get it to work again. I think I used the command key while placing the text.

Jun 26, 2013Ok so in previous version if you have an object selected, and hit F4, ( to urn on and off Wireframe display). you could have and object selected, without wireframe showing, or showing if you prefer.
This option seems to have been removed, or moved in 2014.

May 2, 2012I am able to put text in a vector however, I'm having problems having text and then adding reverse path text.
What I would like to do is add additional text at the bottom of the circle but concave instead of convex. I hope that makes sense. I want to have the text at the bottom wrap around the circle but like a smile so the text isn't upside down.

May 10, 2011pre 2012, if you had display edged faces on, the selected splines would turn white - so you could tell what was selected in viewport. using nitrous, this isn't possible for us. Open GL or Direct 3D work fine but not nitrous. or is this a bug?

Oct 30, 2012I am trying to get back some of my work that was "lost" when a crash accured. I had 16 blocks (all the same) inserted into my map at the correct locations. I recovered the drawing but noticed that the blocks weren't displaying. I conducted a quick select for the layer which they're on; it stated 16 items were selected (but they are not displaying). While they are still "selected" I checked the properties & it stated all the correct information (quantity, block name, color, layer, scale, etc...). I made sure all layers associated with the block were not frozen. So it's acting as though they're still in the drawing, but aren't displaying...

Lightroom :: 5 - Selected Image Does Not Display In Develop Module
Jul 8, 2013I recently upgraded to LR5 from LR4.1. I have seen on several occasions where the selected image in the Develop Module does not appear. I can move back to the LIbrary view and the image appears, but when I switch back to the Develop Module, the image disappears and only a black box appears (dark grey really). This seems to happen after I have deleted flagged files using the ALT-Backspace shortcut. This has happeded when I deleted while in the Library and Develop Module, but does not happen every time. I have disabled the "Show photo on Mouse Over" view option. Prior to that, the preview window shows the selected or moused over photo.
The only thing I can do to get the develop module to work again is to restart Lightroom. It is very annoying when trying to go through 4000 photos!

AutoCad 2D :: Text Display In Drawing Versus Text Display From Xref In Same Drawing

I'm working on one of our standard layouts for a client. Our typical drawing setup is the base drawing file, surrounded by our Xref'ed border. On said border Xref, we have all the information that does not change between drawings (Revision history, address of job site, etc). The only things that change - and, thus, are not on the xref - are the title of each individual sheet and their number; in the case of these objects, they are located on the drawing file itself in the appropriate position. They are, however, the same font as the text in the Xref - "Standard". Or, at least, they're supposed to be.
The text in the base drawing file seems to be a different version of the text from the Xref - a much blockier, sharper-edged version than the Xref text. My first response was "Okay - I'll just copy/paste the text from the border into my base drawing file, and force the existing text to match the properties of the imported text."
This, however, did not work. The imported text automatically assumed the same form as the existing text. Here's a screenshot from the base drawing, illustrating this (The "Mechanical Plan" also exists on the base drawing, and not the Xref):
I copied the existing text from the base drawing (In this case, the "Mechanical Plan") and pasted it directly into the Xref itself, to see what would happen. Apparently, it wants to stay blocky:
In the latter example, I even tried to force the blocky text to assume the properties of the smooth text via MA (Match properties). I specifically need to make the text in the base drawing conform to the style that the text is assuming in the Xref - which is to say "Smooth."

Feb 18, 2014 I have been working with creating the effect of indented text. I have created a new fill which I placed behind my original one.I then went to "Effec" Transform & Distort" " Transform". I was going to add a vertical move of 1px - BUT it doesn't move vertically? My fill is moving downwards 1px?!
I thought I was going crazy until I zoomed in and applied the same setting again....sure enough it is moving down for veritical and vertically for down.
