I have a large number of objects, paths, multiple copies, texts etc. under the visible (on the top) object which is larger and completely covers all unusable object bellow. How can I easily delete or weld INVISIBLE objects from composition?

When working with a slightly complex file I use to have multiple layers which I show, hide and duplicate as needed. After a while my layers dialog gets cluttered and I need to delete layers I don't need anymore, most of these layers are invisible and going one by one to delete takes much time, an option to remove all invisible layers would be great.
There's an option to delete invisible layers on "Image > Merge Visible Layers" but this, as the name says, merges all other layers.
To reduce file size when working with 100+ layers, can I delete multiple invisible layers before saving?
If not, is there a plug-in for this procedure? For a multi-page tutorial with over 100 layers, pdn is slow when opening or saving the file. I would like to save each page of the tutorial as a separate .pdn file for faster loading/editing/saving. Unfortunately, to save each individual page, I must delete many layers one-at-a-time which is very time consuming.
I need to delete all invisible layers before saving, to save each page separately and keep the original multi-page intact for backup until all individual pages are saved.

How many layers can PDN handle?
All the object on the scene are invisible in 1 viewport, even if I switch the viewport to other cameras they are still not visible.
I have tried changing the shading styles, other things like clipping, xview. Even restarted 3ds max for that matter but no luck.
Okay so im doing a coursework for university on autocad 2014 education version, at home i had done a vast amount of work on my laptop, went to university opened the file off the usb stick i have it saved on and done some more work to the coursework and saved it. Now that i try to open the file on my laptop some very few objects appear, all the layers are set to visible
Edit - each time i re-open the file some different random objects become visible while otheres dissapear.
I work on DWG importer and every now and then I come across some files which behave strange. To take as an example, I am working on a file reported to be having unwanted entities when loaded through our importer. This file when loaded in AutoCAD shows proxy entity and nothing else. When I do "zoom to extents" and select the visible entities by selection window, it shows
Select objects: Specify opposite corner: 5767 found, 1988 groups
Now if I do the selection and say "select: all" instead of using selection window it shows:
Select objects: all
5805 found
9 were on a locked layer.
2 were not in current space.
So apparently there are 38 (5805 - 5767) objects which are either invisible or ignored by AutoCAD when I do "zoom to extents".
1. Is there any way in AutoCAD to make all the objects visible?
2. Why "Zoom to Extents" must be ignoring these objects?
3. What is the meaning of "2 were not in current space."? Does that mean, that the drawing file is simultaneously referring to two Coordinate Systems?
Soms of the objects in my 3D view "disappear" when clicking on it. The edges are still visible while the rest of the objects get invisible. This is only the case for some objects in my 3D view. I have no problem with the visibility of the objects in the structural plans or elsewhere. How can I make all objects visible in 3D again when clicking on them?

View 2 Replies View RelatedCertain selected tool cursors are almost invisible on my workspace. The lasso, type, rectangle, line tools when selected and moved into the workspace are almost the same colour as the background so it is impossible for me to get any accuracy with these tools as I can't find where they are on the page.
The other cursors, pencil, pen, eyedropper etc are coloured in black so it's fine. Is there a way of altering the other cursors so they are black too? Or finding another solution?
i'm working with CS4 on a brand new Macbook Air 11 inch.
I drew some strokes and then I was busy on another part of my image then when I looked back at the other part half of my strokes were not visible. Im not sure why. They are still there because I can select them and I can see them in outline mode but they are invisible in preview for some unknown reason. The stroke hasnt changed and the layers are all visible. I restarted and they came back.

View 28 Replies View RelatedI have designed artwork that uses lots of colors and lines. Everything was pretty much designed with lines and shapes and then I used live paint to paint in certain sections. The artwork looks perfect when exported as a GIF and it appears fine in Illustrator. The problem happens when I export the document as a PDF. When I export it as a PDF, tiny white lines show up where I have invisible lines in Illustrator. These invisible lines were put there in the first place so I could have set regions for the live paint without them showing. I'm not sure why they are showing up when I export.
I have tried multiple PDF settings and also tried flattening the layers and attempting to use Transparency Flattener Presets and export it as a PDF 1.3 but it is still greyed out in the export options when I try.
I've attached a screenshot of the PDF after it has been exported to see the lines. You will notice black lines and thicker white lines (like the one at the top), these are intentional. the ones that are undesired is the thin one near the bottom whre you can see theres a break point in color and then multiple ones going up. Deleting these with live paint selection, expanding the art, using direct selection tool to delete all ruin the art flow or do not work.

View 5 Replies View RelatedWe have 8 designers all running identicle systems, but one user is constantly using up their disk space quota, I've traced the problem to the fact that when they use illustrator it writes loads of 16.8 Mb files to their Library > Cache folder all called .afpdeleted followed by a series of numbers.
This doesn't happen with any of the other users.
He is using:
Mac Pro 2.66Ghz 12Gb RAM
OS X 10.7.5 ( this is as far as this mac can be updated)

So I got my array with all the objects to be deleted. But how to delete?I also believe this code could be a bit more efficient.
I have a block that I use as hatch (using superhatch), so the block appears several times. At the border of the hatch I want to fix some of the lines.
If I try to ungroup & explode the hatch, then the block appears outside of the hatch boundry.
So my question is if I can fix the lines so the hatch remains whole.
I need a lisp that can remove all objects (lines, polylines, blocks etc.) outside of a polyline. polyline is closed and shape is variable, so not rectangle.

Every time I start up Illustrator CC 17.1.0, I see this annoying, grammatically incorrect message. To top it off, when it disappears, the invisible notification area icon remains. And the kicker: when I close Illustrator, the icon still remains until I hover the mouse cursor on it.

I am making the hands of a clock with tick marks held in a particular spot with an invisible bounding box. When I export as a png the bounding box disappears and all I have is the tick mark. Maybe a boundindg box isn't the correct description? I have made the hand using the rectangle shape with no fill and no line. The tick mark is contained within this space. But somehow when it is exported using png the invisible containment disappears. I need that to hold my tick mark in place as the hand goes around the clock.

We are using AutoCAD 2013 and our client is using Mechanical Desktop 2009 ,problem we are facing is that we are unable to see the object which they see in the same drawing by giving visible command. There are abt 150 drawings, each has from 2 to 20 or so OLE objects which need to be deleted. OLE objects are on many paper spaces.
I tried to use qselect but it selects only what is in current space.
Would need some lisp or some other methode than all can be deleted (excluding those which resides in blocks).
Tried also yto use ssx and then erase but still it deletes only what is on current space.
Just as additional info, those OLE are all pictures, not xls files for example.
Where is the command delete duplicate objects in AC2012? In version 2011 it was in express tools. Whether this command is not in version 2012?

When I click on an object and it highlights it--when i hit the delete button, it doesn't delete the object any more. Also i should be able to click on as many object as i want, now it makes me hold the shift key down. And also when I click on an object then pull the layers tab down to assign it to a diffent layer ---it won't change it now.. what do you think is going on with the software and who might I contact to get this problem corrected.

When I try to click on a point with the Delete Anchor Point Tool nothing happens however I am able to select the point using the Direct Selection Tool and then remove it using the "Remove selected anchor points" option in the Control palette. Same issue with trying to use the Convert Anchor Point Tool.

This finds all objects in the drawing, but if I just use: (command "_.erase" a "")
to delete them, only the the objects in the current layout or space are getting deleted...
