View 4 RepliesI dont like how in illustrator there is a window where your project is and all the panels for the program are strewn across your desktop. I like the photoshop style better where the entire program is contained in one window. Is there a way to make it like this? What is the advantage of the other way?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI find the default interface in CS6 difficult to read as the menu/tool labels seem very small to me. I can manipulate via Windows, but then the fonts in the windows of all my other apps are too big.
Is there a way to change the size of the fonts in labels in the user interface within Illustrator itself? I thought there used to be a way in preferences some where, but that was a long time ago - maybe even pre-CS?
Can the interface menus and icons be set a little larger in 64bit Photoshop version CS6 ?
View 49 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to follow along with a video at Lynda.com on AI CS6.However, in the video, Deke McClelland is showing the TEXT "Align" on the top Control Panel. On my screen, it's not a text, but a small icon. When I click it, I don't get the same options he does.
I've searched and searched and can't find how to get MY screen to look like his. I have even tried to "Reset Essentials" (the workspace he's using) and still no luck.
The interface for PS CS4 is missing its bar at the bottom and the Windows Task Bar is no longer visible. Can someone please tell me how to return the interface to its default condition?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI know I triggered something someway, but didn't realize. The original interface had the bar with the FILE, EDIT, VIEW, ETC at the top. Now it is hidden until I move my cursor to the top of the page. It then drops down for me to make selections. I personally prefer the original method where it was at the top stationary. Don't know how to change this.

View 6 Replies View RelatedMy preferred method of utilizing commands such as move, copy group etc. is to select the entities to be moved, copied or grouped then select the appropriate tool and proceed. Recently my computer has decided it wants me to select the appropriate tool prior to selecting the entities to be manipulated. I can not figure out how to get this program to return to the method I am most accustomed to??

Any way to make CS6's interface white? The slider in the preferences goes from "black" to "pale grey"; I've been using Illustrator since 2000 or so and am kinda used to the white.
Any and all ways are welcome, from setting secret preferences up to and including hacking the files. Because man I am liking what the performance improvements do to heavy operations like distorting a pattern fill but this grey UI is maddeningly low-contrast.
Can I change the program buttons so that they look like the same as Photoshops?
Despite using many times now, I always find myself searching for the cropping tool
Solution: make the icons the same as Photoshop's
I'm hoping that replacing the graphics is easy as replacing a folder full of graphics.
I have used pretty much all the Illustrator versions from CS2 onward, mainly for typographic work. In the new version I've been using – Illustrator CS6 on Windows 7 – the typography panels are behaving differently from previous versions and it is extremely frustrating!
Character Panel - On previous versions you can click on the font menu in the Character Panel and you get a list with previews, then you can search by scrolling with the mouse wheel or by typing in the name of a font. But in CS6 the mouse wheel doesn't work, you have to click on arrow buttons or move the mouse to the top/bottom of the list to scroll (and it scrolls very slowly!). When you try to type to search, it only lets you type the first letter, not the full font name. So if you're looking for Museo for example, you can only type 'M' then you still have to scroll through all the M's until you find it, if you type 'M' then 'U' (as I would do normally) you are taken to 'U' in the list.Character Context Menu - I use the context menu (the one that lives at the top of the screen) a lot. Again on previous versions it was really quick to click the drop down and just start typing the first few letters in the font name until you see the one you're looking for. In CS6 you can only do a type search when the drop down menu is closed, when you open the drop down, type to search no longer works!
I am on Win 7, 64-bit, 20 gb RAM. Using CS 6 (Cloud).
I have this strange shadow that looks like a pop-out menu once occupied that space, on my interface background.
It will not go away permanently. Everyday when I first start Illustrator, I have to go to Preferences==>User Interface and change the background color.
That makes it go away temporarily. But when I restart, it comes right back.
Why is the search bar in ilustrator cs6 lighter than the interface?

Is there a way to change the size of the tool icons in CDR X6? They are too small for my eyes. I have looked everywhere.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI've installed my new windows CS6, all my .psd files have the 'generic icons' windows give to files they don't recognize. Everything else has normal icons (i.e. Illustrator files) but the Photoshop files are blank. This is true whether I'm on any type of viewer format, i.e. details, thumbnails.
View 2 Replies View RelatedIn Illustrator i can not right click on any of the icons on the left, like the rectangle shape to change it. I have downloaded it and reinstalled it to limt it that out. I am not sure. Is there a setting or something?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a sheet of icons that I'd like to recolour and export individually. While I now know how to recolour the icons, I'm not sure how to individually export them into their own files. The sheet contains icons arranged in a 10x14 grid (10 icons by 14 icons). The only other choice I have aside from this is to trace out PNGs and recolour that way but I've already tried that and it never seems to maintain the original integrity of the image.
My thoughts were that maybe there's a way to export a group as an image?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI seem to have lost my icons for Illustrator CS2 and InDesign CS2 files. The files show as a standard white "page" icon, instead of the program icon. Since I often have multiple Adobe file formats in one folder, it makes it difficult to distinguish which ones are Illustrator vs. InDesign. Oddly enough, Photoshop files and GoLive site files show their icons for files.
I read elsewhere online that this could be caused by a cleaning utility program such as CCleaner when "{GUID} folders are deleted from C:WindowsInstaller." However, I can't find the answer as to how to FIX it.
I have tried using Windows>Default Programs>Associate a file type or protocol with a program to check that Illustrator and InDesign are set as defaults to open the files. I found that the programs were set to shortcuts within the Adobe folder. I fixed that by deleting the shortcut and putting the actual program link as the source to open the program. (Actual program .exe file was located within Adobe Illustrator> Support Files>Contents>Windows.)
Also, I have the Adobe CS2 Suite installed under Program Files (x86).
My right side tool bar: function icons keep disapearing. I cannot find a place to restore them.

View 2 Replies View RelatedBelow is a .jpg copy of the Vitruvian Man that I bought on istockphoto.com. I would like to get rid of the gold background and keep the black line work. I would like what was the gold background to be transparent. I would like to convert this .jpg to a vector file using Adobe Illustrator CS5. To do this I assume I somehow use the Live Trace feature but I'm not exactly sure how.
I would then like to be able to select the black linework and change it to red. Does this mean I need to somehow convert the drawing into a collection of indivdual paths and anchor points? When I've used Live Trace before, I had the tolerance set to about 45 and Simple Trace. This indeed got rid of the gold background but gave me no individual paths or points I could select and change the color of. The only thing I could select was the image as a whole, not individual points or paths. It was the entire image within a box. This occurred whether I used the black arrow tool (Selection tool ) or the white arrow tool (Direct selection tool). If no, then how could I change the black linework to red?
