Illustrator :: Where Is Default File For SVG Filters
Dec 12, 2013Where is the default file for SVG filters in Illustrator CC?
View 5 RepliesWhere is the default file for SVG filters in Illustrator CC?
View 5 RepliesI'm using Creative Suite CS5 in Windows Pro 64, and would like to set a default location for files in Illustrator and Photoshop when I execute the File > Open or File > Save commands.
Yes, the program defaults to the location of the last file opened, but sometimes that file is gone, or I'm creating a new one from scratch, and the program looks for files in a distant place in my file structure.
Is it possible to set a default file location for opening and saving in Illustrator CS5 (and in Photoshop CS5)?
I am using Illustrator CS5.1 and have just noticed that whenever I try to open a new document (file/New...) the document is a PDF instead of an AI file. How do I change it back to AI? - Not sure how it changed to PDF in the first place.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI want to open a "Save File Dialog " with some default path.Like when user run that script I want to open a "Save As" dialog box with default path "/Volumes/<shared name>/<folder name>/.. ."I am using File.SaveDialog(prompt, filter);
but it doesn't open to the location by default that I want to open.
I have several Illustrator JavaScripts that I've written with the ESTK. A lot of these scripts involve resizing the artboard or artwork to specific sizes. Instead of forcing the user to manually input the dimensions they want into text fields, I just stored a half-dozen or so "presets" in an array.
Then they can select one of the presets from a dropdownlist, or go ahead and input a custom size. These presets are the same for multiple "resize" scripts, so it would be nice to store those presets in a separate file (i.e. presets.jsx) that my resize scripts could reference, so when I need to add or change a preset, I could just go to that one shared file, and all the scripts would be updated.
Is it possible to do that? If it is, a quick example of how to load the variables from another file.
I have a situation where the default behavior of my rectangle tool (or any of the other shape tools) is now different. I'm on Mac OS X 10.6.5 running Illustrator CS5. It acts as though the option-shift keys are pressed, so whenever I draw an object, it draws from the center point and the dimensions are constrained, so i can only draw a square or circle, not a rectangle or ellipse. Additionally, whenever I use the selection tool, it clones the object I drag, and also constrains the positioning, so i can only drag in a 0, 45 or 90 degree angle (or multiples thereof). It's as if my option-shift keys are permanently pressed (if I actually press option-shift, the behavior persists). I tried using a different (brand new) keyboard, tried throwing away preferences, and the problem remains. I also tried booting up Illustrator CS4, and the weird problem showed up there! This behavior just started happening spontaneously. I couldn't think of anything weird that happened (a crash, a new plug-in, etc.). I can't find a preference that sets this behavior either.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have hardly ever used filters for any of my work as I have preferred using Xara's native tools and effects to get what I wanted. But recently, I was inspired by some animation work which used backgrounds painted in Photoshop. They used a lot of textures which enhanced the look of the animation and so I thought I'd try to simulate it within Xara.
It works very well and I can export it as a PSD retaining the layers and Alpha channel. But here come my questions.
1. How can I remove the two Alien Skin demo plugins as I already have the full versions.
2. Why don't the native Photoshop plugins--Artistic, Sketch, etc.--seem to work?
In CS3 you could change something to make all filters act like smart filters, even though they won't. I found this worked very well, now I have CS4 and would like to do the same but can't remember what to do to make it work.

View 5 Replies View RelatedWorking: Opening any normal SVG file in Illustrator -> saving it as AI, exporting as PDF, printing, anything. Behaves as expected.
Not working: Doing the same with a SVG file that uses filters. If the svg was not created in Illustrator (with preserved editing capabilities), it will remain rasterized in Illustator, no matter whan format you convert it to, export it to, or if you try to print it.
If you however remove the filters from the SVG, create a new AI file, paste the SVG inside, and then import or recreate the very same filters from inside Illustrator, then everything will work just fine. Clearly there's nothing wrong with neither the filters not the rest of the SVG, but just with Illustrators SVG importing capabilities (dealing with SVG filters).aside from manually importing/recreating the SVG filters from inside AI? And when does AI plan to add decent support for importing SVG created in other programs?
Example:
1. Download this SVG: URL...
(disclaimer: not mine. You can also use any other SVG with filters, as long as it's created outside of Illustrator).
2. Open it in AI.
3. Export to PDF, zoom in -> it's rasterized.
4. Create a new AI file, paste the SVG in there, manually re-create/import the SVG filters.
5. Export to PDF, zoom in -> WORKING.
I am using Illustrator CS6 on OS X 10.8.4. Anything that rasterizes the artwork causes Illustrator to hang. Export (PNG), Save for Web, Filters like Drop Shadow or Gaussian Blur (even when just checking the preview box).
I've read through some discussions that suggested:
– Uninstalling the entire CS6 suite and re-intalling it
– Going into Disk Utitlity and 'Repair Permissions'
– Creating a new user account on my Macbook, deleted the old user account and re-installed the CS6 suite
But none of the above suggestions worked. As soon as I create a new user account Illustrator began to crash again upon export the next of couple days.
I am working on a dormitory project and need to provide a required light and ventilation schedule. I have figured out how to create a schedule for each level, but I want to isolate only the Dormitories and the Kitchenette (weed out all the other rooms such as corridor, elevator, storage, toilets, showers, stairs, trash, electrical, etc.).
I tried using seclusion filters, but there are too many items to exclude and cannot fit them all into the 4 filter categories. I am trying to just get the rooms that begin with 'D' and 'K'. I tried providing the variable 'Begins With' for D and in the next line 'Begins With' K, but then nothing shows up.
Is there a way to provide information to the filter that would allow it to show only rooms beginning with D AND K? I cannot seem to get it to work. I have been playing around with separation values within one filter category (i.e. 'Begins With' D, K) but apparently you cannot add multiple variables within one of the filter items.
I'm trying to update a part with different colors for various features. My color styles are not available in this file. I can export them from another file, then use the import function to bring it over, but there has to be a way to force this file to find the entire "default" color file.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm using Phantasm in my Illustrator file to adjust colors. [URL] ....
I need to send my final files to a production house to get them printed. If they don't have Phantasm on their computers, are my color adjustments lost?
If so, is there a way to "bake in" the color adjustments made with Phantasm so I can share my file with abandon?
A fellow co-worker accidentally checked the box that says "don't open this file" (or something like that) that appears when a language file is missing upon opening a file from a client. He then also "accidentally" clicked the "perform this action every time" so as the warning window wouldn't appear any more. As a consequence there are now files that we cannot open on that computer. I've searched through system variable lists and come up empty handed.....

View 1 Replies View Relatedwhenever I do pretty much anything (eg. when applying any of the Illustrator Effects) in Illustrator, to have to turn on the 'Preview' checkbox every time. Obviously I want to see a preview of what I'm doing. I can't find anything in the preferences to fix this - is there any way of making preview ON by default? I guess this is a relic of the ancient core of Illustrator, when adding something like a soft shadow would make those Macintosh Classics grind to a halt.
Unfortunately this is one of those impossible-to-Google questions - any permutation of "illustrator", "preview", "default" gives me thousands of unrealted search results!
How do I set the rulers to appear by default in CS6?

View 2 Replies View RelatedIn R2013, the default file naming convention for plotting to a file (jpg, pdf, etc) was [your dwg's filename].pdf
Since R2013 SP1 (including R2014, which I've just moved onto), it has changed to [your dwg's filename] [name of the sheet you're plotting].pdf - as in "DSMC-AS-L Model(1).pdf" instead of "DSMC-AS-L.pdf"
I don't like that at all. Having to manually change it every time is pretty obnoxious.
Is there an way to change this?
I created my custom Sheet Set with my desired Sheet Set properties. I named it "wizengr.dst". Who knows how I can make this DST file the default so that the "Creat Sheet" wizard and "Create Section Sheet" dialog box will automatically use it to create a sheet set during sheet creation process.

I find that an edit of a photo will automatically save in the folder that I opened the shot from. If I had made a copy of the shot, the copy will save in a different folder.
Ideally, ANY AND ALL (originals and copies) "Save As" should be save in "c:Working" by default without having to go through the hassle of navigating there.
I am running CS3 under Vista (4 gig ram) on one machine and XP (3 gig ram) on another.
I recently upgraded to Creative Suite CS4 from Photoshop CS3. Previously, all my images, when viewing them in Windows Explorer, were defined by a specific icon and file type. For example, GIF images were associated with a specific GIF icon and JPEG images were associated with a specific JPEG icon, etc. Now with CS4 they all are listed as Adobe Photoshop Images with the same PS icon. I cannot tell when browsing what type of image file they are.
