I can not seem to save to web and be able to immediately view the image. I have Illustrator CC and as per my Instructor request to save to the web with Illustrator CS6. What happens is the image is not easily available and you have to spend a considerable amount of time trying to locate the image, this is not acceptable.
I just want to draw some simple animations, and I was thinking of using the layers as frames, like with gif creation. I know you can use pageup and page down to quickly shift focus from one layer to the next, but is there a way to only have the current layer visible without having to mess with the visbility toggle for each layer?
first post from relatively new user of Gimp 2.6.7 on Vista.
I'd like to be able to quickly fit the image to the visible layers -- usually just one layer, in fact. I'm currently doing it by drawing a rough marquee and then correcting it at high magnification before using Fit Canvas to Selection, but there must be a better way!
I am just beginning in Ai and need to do a simple trace of this font on an old album cover. When I do the "Black and White Logo" preset on the Image Trace Panel it turns the enitre image white.
How do I quickly separate an image's channels into grayscale layers? I'll need to do this frequently, so is there an automated way? If there isn't, can it be done with python scripting? Would it take me a long time to learn how to write such a script assuming I know a bit of Python (as used in Blender), but haven't done any scripting with GIMP?
There are other discussions about scroll wheel zooming, but this is about scrolling. It goes too quickly in InDesign, though it's great in other products.
I'm a 3D artist but recently, due the high demand, I'm learning illustrator for the sole purpose of making floor plans (the artistic colorful ones), I know Photoshop very well and use it extensively, it would certainly be enough if I wasn't going to print the plans at various dimensions, even using smart objects and vectors I don't think Photoshop is the right tool for the job.
I've downloaded illustrator and so far I'm liking it a lot, I believe it's the appropriate tool for the job. However, I couldn't find a quick way to draw the walls precisely.
The biggest problem is I couldn't find a way to 'offset' open paths quickly... when the path is open, it offsets the lines to both sides, as opposed to closed paths, the way I found myself is to use the pathfinder to divide the offsets than delete the ones I don't want, but it's a pain, it's better to just draw both sides of the walls separately instead, what is a tedious process too.
I'm looking for simple ways to either offset open paths to a specific side, or maybe make strokes that are adjacent to the paths so i can use the 'outline stroke' tool to convert them to 'solid' paths, or any other way to achieve the same result.
cutting up and manipulating vectors ? I want my script to 1)open from a designated folder 1b) copy and paste 3 instances of the vector object 2)add a rectangle or two , 3) use those rectangles to crop the edges aaand ,4) reflect the images inside those two rectangles 5) perfectly line up the reflected rectangles to their mirrored edge of the third remaining item...?
I am studying for an MSc in Geology and am doing seismic mapping. To tidy up my maps I exported them to ArcGIS so I could join various ones together and also contour the maps. Then I exported the GIS maps into illustrator so I could attempt to smooth some of the contours as they are extremely jaggedy due to the nature of the data.Is there a way to quickly smooth lines or mass delete points that make up the lines?I am asking because I have 30+ maps and each map has maybe 50lines with each line being made up of currently about 1000 points each...
If I can't find a solution I will probably end up drawing over the contours with the pen tool and just smoothing it that way, as it should be a lot faster then deleting so many points.
I am currently using Illustrator CS5 and have access to CS4.
I’m going through a bunch of old files to see what I can git rid of.
After I view and then close a file in Illustrator CS6 I can delete the file, but not its containing folder, which stays locked, even after closing Illustrator. Restarting and closing Illustrator again usually enables me to delete the folder — but not always. Sometimes I have to close everything and log out and back in to be able to delete the folder. (BTW, Acrobat and Photoshop also share this problem.)
When you have, as I do, hundreds of files to go through, this becomes a real hassle.
Sometimes when I save files as a pdf in Illustrator, or receive files from other people the image loses it's colour.
All colour is just black. I'm attaching a screen shot so you can see what I mean, the colours here are supposed to be a shades of a PMS colour, but instead they're all black.
what I need to do to my PDF to ensure color are some what close to original when saving a PDF in Illustrator or InDesign. Yes i understand iPad would be using a different coor management to a desktop computer but surely there is a way to get the colors, brightness closer to original?
I notice that when doing standard and high quality saves in PDF format, the saturation and brightness contrast changes quite a bit, but if I save the image as a jpg its a lot closer.
I was just browsing a car site which seems to be exeriencing a very similar situation with one of their PDFs. When viewing in iPad have a look at how bad this looks (its way too dark) but when viewing on a desktop machine its fine.

Is it just a matter of color proofing using a specific model and drawing back on blownout levels before outputting to PDF?
What if I have created 7 logo versions. I want the client to view these 7 versions as one file (maybe one PDF file with 1 logo per page). Each logo version is on its own layer in Illustrator right now. How do I convert each logo/layer to a multi-page PDF file? Since this is just for viewing, I don’t have to submit EPS files yet to the client.
I am sure that you must be able to do it...surely..but how can you see images side by side, so that the original is on the left and the edited on the right?
quick way to rotate an image 10% from a corner. Holding shift rotates it 15% and it just seems a bit long winded to have to constantly type in the amount I want to rotate. Also free transform just doesn’t feel accurate enough.
I have to add an object to an exsisting image that has lets say 30-40 layers. In doing so, I have to move the entire image up or down, so I have to link all the layers to move it up or down. I can't merge the layers, because I have to use the same image several ways, so is there a quick way to "link all" layers, move, then "unlink all" layers in Photoshop 7?? I know that Select-All layers doesn't do the trick.
I have a custom brush defined of my signature that I put on my photos. As I want the signature to be subtle so it doesn't detract from the photo, I use a colour that almost blends with the colours in that corner of the photo. The signature is visible, yet it doesn't attract attention.
As examples, the signature would be a shade of green over grass, blue over ocean, grey over asphalt, etc.
Selecting the color to use is trial-and-error, tweaking it several times so it isn't too bright, too dark, or too contrasting with the background. As each photo needs a different colour, this becomes time consuming after hundreds of images.
Is there a tool or other way in PS (either CS2 or CS4) to select a colour like this more quickly? Perhaps one that picks an "average" colour from the area for the signature, and then tunes it a bit brighter or darker so it will show up?
At the moment I an experimenting with using the Eye Dropper, set to 101x101 sample averaging (the largest available). So with the signature brush selected, I Alt-click to get this average colour. But then I still need to make the colour lighter or darker, otherwise the signature blends in too well, almost invisible. Is their a shortcut key way to lighten or darken the selected foreground colour?
Is there a simple, quick way to change a color? I know about fill but but the color I want to change isn't solid, it has a texture and colr variances in it so it looks like lips.
I'm trying to change the lipstick color in "The Sims 2 Body Shop". All I want to do is to quickly change the color while not changing anything else.
I'm working on a healthcare brochure. Several of the images provided show the patient with heavy "tan" lines, the client asked that I remove them... I've attempted using the clone tool as well as the healing tool but the resulting image looks very choppy & unrealistic. Does anyone have any quick suggestions or ideas?
I made a collection of gradients brushes and shapes as i worked for the past few years, and the collection has grown to such a size that its difficult for me to tell which shapes/grafients etc. are of any use for me, and i dont want to load all of them becouse they just take a lot of space in windows and expand loading time.
is there a way i could view the preset as a graphic file? so for example i click on my "chromegradientsver2" gradients preset file, and a image pops out showing which gradients are in this file? the same with shapes/brushes etc.
I conducted 2 surveys on different days and somehow the second survey was off by exactly 0.9 (don't ask because I do not know). With the temperatures being -10C with a very high windchill. I said I would worry about it after the fact once I put it into CAD.
So I am on to Civil3D 2014. I imported the 2 .FBK files and was wondering how to do an elevation drop of 0.900m for just the one survey quickly.
I have the walls that are not running vertical or horizontal (plan view).
How do I quickly find out how much the wall is angled (plan view)? In AutoCAD, you can list the item and has all of the properties shown. But in Revit, in the properties box, the angle is not shown.
How are people importing multiple images into a projects. There must be some smoother way than diddling around with at least 2 dialogs for each image.
How can I batch import or whatever where the resolution and wither to merge or not is answered 1 time? The idea of answering 60 questions to import or drag and drop 30 images seems way unnecessarily cumbersome..
I have recently transfered from 1 PC to another and none of my model directories are the same and I need to apply textures without going 1 by 1 in the material editor. How can I take 20 textures such as eye, skull, shoes and quickly put them on my character?
