AutoCAD LT :: Unable To Save Files / Creating TMP Files Instead 2014
Apr 17, 2013I have just recently installed AutoCAD LT 2014 on Windows 7 (Running on an intel iMac through Bootcamp). Ever since then i am receiving notifications when performing a save.
AutoCAD is telling me it cannot perform the save and is creating a .tmp file in the same location on the server as the file should be.
this is causing major performance issues and happens almost every second time I attempt to perform a save. The issue is that we are getting multiple versions of the same file duplicating on the file server which is very quickly going to cause capacity issues considering most files are 2-4mb in size.

Apr 9, 2012I'm using Photoshop CS5 for Mac, and when I try to save files as TGA or GIF, the Layers option is not available and the result is a flattened, single layer.
• Files I am working with are 8bit RGB.
• Photoshop is set to 32bit, not 64bit.
• There are no extra channels other than RGB.
• Switching files to indexed color doesn't work because it asks to merge all layers.
• I can open Gif files containing layers, but I can't then Save or Save As with layers.
Below is the save dialog box as it appears when i try to save a Gif or TGA.

Sep 18, 2013Paint shop pro 4. Patches up to date. I am unable to save files my files as .jpgs. I can save them as .psp files however. I was able to save them last week, so something has changed in my settings, but where to look. 10 years using PSP and I have to say...dislike all versions after PSP XI.

If you save the file, this message will always appear whenever the file is opened.”since I am not saving the files, I am just clicking some icons, I don't know why I got this message. It makes me so inconvenient to use this program because I got this Pop up screen almost every 10 seconds though.

Jun 16, 2012I've been using Gimp 2.6 for some months now and beginning to get to grips with it. I load photos into Picasa and then process jpegs with Gimp. Upgraded to 2.8.0 a few days ago and hit a problem.
Using the new 2.8 system to to 'export' out to a jpeg file, when I go back to Picasa and make any change at all, which then needs a 'save' I get a Windows error message: "Unable to save all files due to a disk error. The disk may be full or read only".Files not Gimp 2.8 processed are fine.
2.6 no problem - 2.8 problem. I don't think it will be Gimp bug, but there is an associated change which has 'upset' my computer.
Photoshop :: Unable To Save Files In Original Folder - Disappears?
Mar 15, 2012At random moments when I'm saving layered Photoshop CS5 files, a message pops up with the following text: Could not save "...FileName..." because the file is locked or you do not have the necessary access privileges. Use the 'Properties' command in the Windows Explorer to unlock the file.
Well the strange thing is that I'm the administrator, the only user of this PC and even when I set/check the properties of the folder containing the files this continues to happen. What is even more disturbing is that I have to save my file as a new file in a new location and when I check the original file, it is no longer in it's original folder.
I save all my files to the local HD and I use an external device to backup my files. I regularly get notices on my backup device telling me that various files were deleted, but will be kept until I need the room. These are files which I did not delete, they are files which I'm still working on.
I'm having to save to the original job folder first, save to the desktop when I get the notice saying I can't save, and then save back into the original folder when I can't save on the desktop anymore because of the same error message. I sometimes get a similar Adobe error message which is basically along the same lines, but I haven't noted the exact text yet.
I no longer run my back up continuously while I'm working because while it's great to have the peace of mind that I'm regularly backed up, my files can get up to 2GB in size and I think the backup running at the same time is slowing Photoshop processes down, so I most often pause it until I take a break. On this occasion, I had been running it while working (smaller file) and so I was able to retrieve an earlier version from my backup which saved me from having to re-do the job completely. I didn't get this problem when I was using CS5 on Vista, it's been since I've been using Windows7 and my back up drive.
I only recall having had this problem with PSDs, but that could just be because these files can take up to ten hours to complete and there's a higher chance of getting an error message over a longer period of time.
I'll disconnect my back up drive while I'm working and see how it goes. It's not ideal, but probably worth a try.I don't know if there's a connection, but occasionally windows randomly sticks a lock on zipped folders which I create, regardless of the permissions I apply to the upper level folder they sit in. I'm told by a friend that it won't affect other people accessing these zipped folders from other machines. I don't know if that's the case, I always change the zipped folder's permission to include 'Users' and that makes the lock disappear.

AutoCAD LT :: 2013 Unable To Save Files For Older Versions?
May 24, 2012I have a newly downloaded version of AutoCAD LT 2013 that will not save files in older formats for autocad 2004 and 2007. When trying to save the user gets the following error message "One or more objects in the drawing cannot be saved to the specified format. The operation was not completed and no file was created."
I did some searching in the discussion groups and it appears that this is a known/common issue with autcad lt 2013. Is there a work around to saving it in a format that older autocad applications can view?

Apr 22, 2013I have some AutoCAD 2013 users in our Fabrication department who are having problems saving R12 dxf files to a network location. When they try to save they get a message that states "Unable to save to drawing N:Bend|5130Xfilename.dxf. Drawing saved to N:Bend|5130Xsav6A0D.tmp" (See attachment for actual message)
The temp file does not get saved either. They can save R12 dxf files locally and to other network locations. They are able to save 2013 dwg and dxf files with no issues. This problem just affects R12 dxf files which they need for programming pressbrakes.
They can save to 2013 dxf files and then overwrite with R12. After that they cannot save again and get the message again.
User workstations vary.
All are Dell Precision workstations and laptops
Windows 7 x64 with 16 GB of RAM
All are running Nvidia Quadro graphics cards with certified drivers

Jul 9, 2013I'm using a very old version, Illustrator 10. I'm just learning how to use the program and I can't save an image with a transparent background. I tried using "Save for Web" and checked the "Transparency" box (.gif and .png).
The grey and white checkerboard displayed, as if the background would be transparent. However, when I opened the image, it had a white background. It wasn't the entire artboard, just the bounding box. Am I missing something?

Sep 27, 2012I was always able to do this before. (should be simple...) I made a gradient and just want to save / add it to a Swatch Panel that I've already defined and saved. I used to be able to drag (I think) the gradient into the desired Swatch Panel and then 'save the swatch again' It won't let me do this today even though I just did it last night!

Illustrator :: Unable To Save Brush Created Shapes As DXF?
Dec 17, 2013I'm using Illustrator to creat shapes that can be exported as DXF files then taken into a program used in CNC plasma cutting of metal art. I'm able to do this with art work drawn with the pencil tool and blob brush. I also want to do this with the brush tools creating florishes and other shapes. I've been able to take a paint brush drawn line with width, rasterized it, and then image traced it to creat a line shape with handles which allow it to be adjusted however I've not been able to get rid of the selection box, it seems to need to be selected in order to work on the shape, and the drawn lines created when I image traced it seem to be double lines. Also I can't get rid of the box that is drawn when I select the lines so I can use the handles to manipulate the shape. Most important I've not be able to export shapes draw this way as a DXF file.

Jan 4, 2014I am running OS 10.6.8 on MacBook Pro (traveling). Use Suitcase Font Management. Saved 1.5 Mb file and closed it. When I go to File-->Open Recent, or File-->Open and select the file to reopen, it does not open. When I double-click on the file, it also does not open. If I quit Illustrator CC and relaunch it, I can then open that same file using any of the aforementioned methods. Is this something I can fix or is it a 10.6.8 glitch? For example: I am working on a series or collection of designs. Each design has multiple artboards in it that make the files rather large. I am making minute changes to each one that require grunt work. I would like to be able to open 10-20 files at a time, copy and paste the chagnes i need, hit Save All and walk away. For some reason it started crashing when we want to save both new and existing files...
if we open a or existing document in cmyk color mode and just have text and shapes etc in the file it will save it as normal but it will crash trying to save if we placed anything into the file such as a jpeg and it will also crash if we changed the color mode to rgb.
we have tried all we can think off...deleting the illustrator setting files...uninstalling and reinstalling..even with the adobe suite cleaner tool..
Illustrator :: Will Not Save Files As CMYK Only RGB
Jul 11, 2012For some reason I can no longer save .pdf files from Illustrator and Indesign in CMYK color modes. That is, the file will save, but it always ends up as an RGB file. I've reset my Illustrator preferences on startup and I have deleted the ai prefs file as well. I've also done the same for Bridge, InDesign and Photoshop.
Why this would happen and what I can do so I can create CMYK PDF files again? I need to send art (created in InDesign) to the printer in CMYK color space.
I am working on a Mac. My operating system is OSX version 10.6.8.

The 'Use Artboards' feature is on the Save As... dialog but it's disabled. It looks like there was an extension (Illustrator HTML5 Pack for CS5) available at one time but its appears to have been removed from Adobe's site.

Aug 2, 2012Problem: When using Illustrator (CS4), saved files as .EPS, do not have the appropriate Illustrator icon on the file. When I click on them to open, instead of opening in Illustrator, the file open in "Preview".
NOTE: ".AI" files saved, do not have the correct AI icon either, but do open in Illustrator.
What can I do to rectify this situation?
