how do you enter a precise width to a paragraph without deforming it... if you rezise manualy it doesnt strech, but if you have for example a 180px width paragraph and enter 30px in transform box or properties bar it gets stretched.
I have some text boxes and need all to be same exact widths.
Trying to use the width tool, I ran into the following problem. I would like to have a smooth transition of the stroke width between two width points while keeping the original stroke width unchanged outside of that line segment.
There are four width points here: two end points and two in between. The original stroke width is 200. The two on the left have one side set to 100 while the two on the right have one side set to 50. I would like to eliminate the distortion of the line width occuring in the first and third line segments. The only solution that I have come up with so far is to place two additional width points very close to the two middle width points: one with a 100-unit side to the left of the second point in the picture and one with a 50-unit side to the right of the third point in the picture. Yet there will be a small distirtion in between.
I drew a cured line with the brush tool in illustrator CS5, but when I select the new "width tool" to change the width, it doesn't work.
Here are my steps:
1. Select the paintbrush tool
2. Draw something
3. Select the "width tool"
4. Try to change the width but it won't work.
Since I draw with the paintbrush tool, the "width tool" can be very handy if I can get it to work.
I am setting up an artboard 7 x 3.375. When I enter the 3.375 Illustrator changes it to 3.38. Is there a way to change it so it keeps the exact dimensions I entered?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am using Illustrator CS5 on a MacBook Pro running 10.9.1. When I make new objects their dimensions are not precise, although I am using the application bar to spec the sizes. When I use the built-in calculator function to resize the objects, the errors grow.
For example: rectangle, 7" x 10", intended size. RESULT: 7.0124" x 10.1251". This rectangle has no fill, its rule is 1'.
When I use the calculator to make it 1/9 of the intended size, the result I get should be 0.7778" x 1.111". Instead, the result is 0.0.7653 in x 1.108 in.
Can the "Basic Paragraph" style in Paragraph Styles be modified? How is this done?
I can bring up the Paragraph Styles Options diaglog by double clicking "Basic Paragraph" in the Paragraph Styles panel. I can also modify it, for example, by changing the font family. But when I click OK to save it, it creates a new style and leaves "Basic Paragraph" unchanged.
I know that the Basic Paragraph style can be modified in InDesign, but I don't see how to do it in Photoshop.
I am having issues with tabs lining up for a current menu project I am working on. Im using paragraph styles and character styles as well. All prices shown have the same styles and sould justify right,but there are odd gaps.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm having trouble with the spacing of my text when I import a .rtf file. The spaces change width based on the width of the columns. The problem does not effect all the paragraphs only select ones. If I change the width of the column the spacing of the text will fix itself. All of the text is the same text style. I have attached a copy for reference.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm having an issue where I'm creating a white border around two landscape oriented images that are the same exact size then doubling the width of the canvas. I've never had this issue before with PS CS6.. I tried resetting the photography workspace but no luck. I tried with two portrait oriented images and the same result. I've restarted my machine. I'm on Windows 7 Pro 64bit and I'm running PS CS6 64bit as well. Thought to do a repair through Programs and Features but there is only the option to uninstall. I haven't done anything out of the ordinary except use an action a few days ago I downloaded and used from

and I downloaded and used the press print action.
How I can correct this? If an image is 20 inches wide and I'm doubling it to 40 it's tripling the width to 60 inches. Is there a way I can reset every aspect of PS CS6 to get back to a factory state other than uninstalling and reinstalling?
I'm having trouble with stroke option in illustrator. It was working just fine but now its stuck at 1pt and I cant increase or decrease the stroke width no matter what I do.

I've got CS6 (Using the Cloud so most up to date version).I want to draw a line segment. I select .5pt for the stroke width. I draw the line whilst holding down Shift so it's straight. It defaults to 1pt width. I select it and try to change the width using both the appearances panel and the tool bar. It automatically defaults back.
I draw the line on an angle and it remains at .5pt. But I don't want an angled line. I want a straight line. I draw it with the pen tool and it defaults to 1pt.

So for example, if I have a bounding box with the with 10 cm, I should be able to type text in it, multiple lines, and the text should then fit itself to the width of the bounding box by going up/down in size, so the height of the text also changes accordingly.
Does it make sense?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a pre-existing graphic uses a stroke with variable with profile (I think) or a special brush to make it look like it's hand drawn. I'd like to apply the same effect to a few new illustrations to keep the style consistent. For whatever reason when I ungroup the graphic and select one of the paths, the stroke weight and variable width profile remain disabled (see pasted toolbar graphic below). The brush still says "Basic" despite the fact that visually it is certainly not the basic brush.

I use Illustrator CS5 and can not blend variable width strokes in Illustrator. I can not do that even with the same width profiles unless they are expanded. I could not find any questions similar on the net regarding this, but wanted to double check before I just made the necessary changes. I'm a bit confused because Adobe 'help' shows how powerful the blends of objects are, but we can't do them as strokes?
I want to keep the blend as strokes not expand them. What is the best way to view how the blend will look with variable widths without expanding and then 'undoing' a bunch of times.
but is there a hot key for expanding the blend without going into object-blend-expand?
Is there a way to change/customize the variable width profile options for the drop-down options next to the Brush definition options?

I outlined everything, and started using the width tool around the eye and noticed it scaled the width proportionately. The iris sits inside of a clipping mask because it would seem most efficient to be able to adjust the points later down the line if I need to. I would like to avoid having to have the iris, a clipping mask with no stroke, and then the stroke placed on top of everything. Is this possible?
