Illustrator :: Saving Selected Elements

I have some illustrator artwork and I want to save different elements on the artwork as new files but without saving the whole artboard? I can't seem to find a simple way to do this? I have tried copying the selection, opening a new document and pasting but I still have to then adjust the artboard to fit which is super fiddly.... (not like in Photoshop where it sizes the artboard to the size of your copied selection).

Am I missing something really simple?! I have heaps of little elements I need to save separately (without a huge artboard behind them) and I think I might go crazy if I need to create a new specifc size artboard for each of them.

I am trying to use a selected surface in a LISP program. I want to be able to save the currently selected surface into a varialble that I can use to control the style of the surface. I would be either selecting the surface by picking the surface from the drawing, or selecting the surface from the list/dialog box of available surfaces. I can't seem to locate a system varialble that holds that info.

I have started editing photos using the Photo Fix Options in Instant Fix. I have then switched to Photo Editor to fine tune my edited picture. When I use save or save as, to save the edited picture both the edited and original appear in the files. If I start in in Photo Editor and save there is an option to uncheck that reads "Save in version set with Original" However I am more comfortable with beginning in Instant Fix and then switching to photo editor. For some reason when I go to save after switching from Instant fix to Photo editor the uncheck feature is no longer available. step by step instructions to save revised photo afterusing Instant Fix first then Photo Editor.

Illustrator :: Cannot See Selected Lines In CC

I'm just trying to do the same job I've been doing for years but have a sudden problem seeing which lines I've selected. I suspect I've switched something on or off somewhere. I select a single line and it is highlighted. I tselect more than one and there's just a great box which also encompasses lines I was not selecting. The individual lines are not highlighted (as they used to be) so I can't see what really has been selected.

Illustrator :: Cannot Save Fit To Selected Art To Action

I deisgn large numbers symbols in emf format and then batch convert these to svg files. I have over 22,000 images at the moment, so being able to automatically batchnconvert is vital.

Currently I to use CS3 to batch with no problems. In CS4 when you open the emf the artboard is the default document size, not the artwork size. So there is a lot of extra white space in the batched svg.

I have just downloaded a trial of CS5 to see if this is now possible as I hate being stuck on an old version. CS5 has the option to fit the artboard to the selected art (object/artboard/fit to selected art) but you cannot seem to save this to an action list.

The actions I want to include are 'open' 'select all' 'fit to selected art' 'save as svg' 'close' . But the artboad step isn't saved.

Illustrator :: Selected Text Do Not Show?

I received an Illustrator file in which I have to implement a translated text. I see the text cursor, but when I try to select text it disappears and I cannot see how much of a sentence or word is selected. I can delete the selection or write something else in its place, but I am working "blind" without seeing how much of text I selected until I change it or delete it. I see nothing unusual in Preferences. It is the only Illustrator file that behave that way.

Illustrator :: Cannot Move Selected Objects In CS5.5

I'm using Illustrator CS5.5.

I cannot move anything I select. I try to drag it and it makes the "bump" noise.

-I made sure that my preferences are not set to "object selection by path only".

-I've restarted my computer several times

-I tried to open a previous Illustrator file and I have the same problem

-I even uninstalled and reinstalled my entire Abode Suite beacuse I've been having several issues

I'm not sure if this is related but I also can't create a new document unless I use picas and CMYK coloring. It refuses to adjust to anything other than the default settings. Also, I can't increase the stroke of an object unless I type in the number, meaning I can't use the arrows for adjustment.

I have slices in my document. On one slice, I have added some information under the Slice Options, such as a URL and an alt tag. When I choose Save Selected Slices, I get a drop-down menu in my Save dialog called File Format. The only choice in this drop-down is "Images Only." Same thing happens if I try to save the selected slice via the Save for Web dialog. Didn't you used to be able to choose to save the HTML as well? Or, is there ever another choice in this drop-down?

Sometimes when I have an object selected and I go to select a fill color for it, the object turns a corresponding shade of grey, even though I'm selecting a color from the color picker.

Other objects on the artboard have color, so it doesn't seem to be a global setting....

Using PS Elements 11 I can easily selecte (quick selection tool or smart brush tool) an area of a photo that I want to adjust, but I'm adbsolutely stymied as to how to apply the adjustment I want to that selected area??? How do I do it??? I have the area selected (e.g. I've slected a very bright sunlit area of a photo) that I want to make darker ... how do it do that?

Or I've selected an area of a photo that, after using the composition tool, has a lot of serious jagged lines, and I want to blur/smooth that area ... I've tried every conceivalbe combination (max radius etc.) of the blur filter, but nothing seems to significantly blur the selected part of the image. I would have thought that, given a "maximum" blur "setting", it would be possible to blur a selected piece of image into a uniform monotone blend ... is that not possible?

I am working with Photoshop Elements 11. I have a picture that I want to place into a banner. When I do this I find that the height of the picture is fine but it is not wide enough. BUT to the leftside of the picture the background is such that I can cut it out and use it to fill the space on the left and right sides.

I know how to do selections with marquee tool etc but not how to copy and paste a selected area. Is there a tool or method that will do this for me?
