Illustrator :: Count Point In Selected Path
Dec 21, 2012Is there a way to see how many points are in a selected path?

View 2 RepliesI activated the Poly Count from the Display Menu; but it shows the components that are in the view at the moment. I'd like to know instead if there is a way to display the number of the components selected.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to create a script in CS5 mac os10.6.8 that will change the fill color of selected pathItems. I need a simple script that will change a selected pathItem to cmyk values 2,3,15,0. I will then select this script and implement the action in a batch of 600 files.
I wish this process could be recorded as an action but when I record the action "add new swatch" I have to manually input the cmyk values, which will take forever for a batch of over 600 files.
How to get count of path anchor points? I'm pathing right now pearl necklace with very diferent colors and some are almost transparent so i didn't know how to use any masking trick on it. So i'm pathing, pathing and pathing one more time. And after 1+ hour start to wondering is there any way to know how many path points i'd made?

View 3 Replies View RelatedIs there any way to find a specific point on a path, that is not necessarily an anchor point?
What I'd like to be able to do is tell Illustrator "Give me the coordinates of the point that's exactly at half of this path's length" or "... exactly 25% ...". And if that's possible, can I somehow add an anchor point to that point, or cut the path at that point?
I'm wondering how it's possible to drag only one handle out of an anchor point. Sometimes I have a path and some anchor points have only one handle dragged out. Now I want to adjust the other handle _without_ changing the already positioned handle. Is this even possible?
The "convert anchor point tool" does allow me to drag out handles, but only both at a time. This always results in changing the already positioned handle's position.
Is it possible to find intersection poit of the anchor point and any point on path?
Like on a picture, there are an anchor poit from a line, which intersects arc path, and I need to find intersection poit on the arc (can be line) path. Thus I can do further processing for arc after intersection - change position, set color etc.
I suppose I need to divide that arc path and that will be the best way, but all I need for this moment extract point before intersection and after and process in our custom preview. Is there way to find this intersection?
I have had this problem since I started using patterns. Basically when I put a pattern on a path I want to then move it along that path so it starts where I want it to start, not neccessarily on the path's starting point.
There is an image of how it looks like
I created a simple pattern to show my issue. For example I want to move this pattern along this circle so it looks like this (triangle points up)
As you can see I rotated the whole circle to get the right outcome I need, but if it was just a regular path I would not be able to fix it this way.
Is there a way to do that? Something like moving text along a path.
I am using Illustrator CC.
I am developing a plugin for Illustrator CS5, 6. I have a scenario which requires the plugin to place a text frame inside a closed path art. How can I calculate the proper destination coordinates? The path art can be a curve or a rectangle, any shape. I need to place the text frame inside the path such that no part of the text frame overlaps the boundaries of the path art.
I looked at the forum and found the following thread: [URL] .....
Here, its stated that the method AIPathfinderSuite::DoFrontMinusBackEffect of the API did the required task. I tried the same but couldn't get it to work.
My first preference is to use the Illustrator SDK, not any third party libraries.
So i've got a stroke in a circular path. I use the scissor tool and cut a segment of it out. Now, i want to move one of the end points up and have the anchor points after it follow the movement to keep the smooth line. I think Flash had a tool like this. It allowed you to manipulate one point that would affect the whole path depending on how extreme or what direction you went.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to stroke my work path with a brush I tailored myself. now, when I create a workpath from my text layer and switch to my top layer to try and choose 'stroke path' the option is shaded out.
View 10 Replies View RelatedIs there a possibility to count (only) all sublayers in a given layer? CountLayers from LayerSuite is only counting top-level layers and that isn't good enough.
Edit: I am using CS SDK 5.
I'm looking to get the file path of a selected part/assembly while inside of an assembly. I think I found something that can get it but the example is just different enough I can't figure it out and I don't have time to play with it. There also might be an easier way I couldn't find while searching.
This is the example code that seems to be able to do loads of things including get the full path, if you know what you're doing.

How to close the selected area using the Path Tool? I expected, after clicking in the initial node the area would appear as selected, but no..

I would like to know if there is any way to detect if selected point of the selected polyline is its vertex?
1. The user is drawing rectangle or any other figure with polyline.
2. Entering command "GetMe".
3. Selecting polyline.
4. Selecting point.
Is there any built-in function in Autodesk's API?
I set a snap for ease of use, e.g. if my intended output scale is 1:50 I will set my snap to 25, this makes drawing lines fast and simple.
When I used the break command in previous versions (I skipped 2011) the break would keep the snap on so I could break either side of a line with a perfect unit gap.
In 2012 when I select the first point it disregards the snap and just puts the break wherever I select on the line meaning the gap is not neat. Is there anyway to put this back the way it was?
I have some negative space I created(black area, see first image) that I want to fill with type, not just a simple fill.
Basically I want to create the negative space from a bunch of small minus signs(-) that need to line up as they go across. If I type on each path one at a time as the text doesn't line up that way. This needs to be one continuous path. (see second image)
Unfortunately if I add them together, it creates a compound path, which you cannot type on, unless I am mistaken? So I need them to be a path, not a compound object.
In illustrator, is there a way to reduce anchors points in a segment path without altering the path?
Is there a better and more efficient way to reduce anchors points than using the pen-minus tool?
I've tried every permutation of copy and paste; I renamed the path to path. It looks like a path when I add stroke, but it does not behave like one. I can't cut it or join it to any other path. It remembers it's text path status. I'm running OS X 10.7.5.
View 11 Replies View RelatedI accidentally converted a path to a text path. I searched the forum for how to convert it back to a regular path. The answer I found said to select the path and hit Command+C+F. This gives me another text path! I now have at least 6 copies of the path in my files but they are ALL text paths and none are visible with a stroke.
View 5 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to add a Corner Anchor Point to an exisiting path. The Add Anchor Point tool always creates a smooth point, which I then have to go back and convert to a corner point. Seems to me, in earlier versions, I was able to use the Pen tool, then hold ALT and click twice to achieve this. CS6 doesn't respond to that procedure. Is there some other trick?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've got two paths. They don't intersect, exactly, a straight path ends at a curved path, but I need the end of the straight path to be curved, to make it look like the two meet perfectly. The two gray paths (a single path, then path->offset for the second) are the outside of a shield shape. The two black lines (paths) just surround text, but currently they overlap the gray paths.

View 2 Replies View RelatedHaving a lot of issues manipulating points on paths in Illustrator CC - this is a fundamental feature of creating vector graphics and it's very annoying I'm paying for this and it's just not working. Eating up a lot of my time simply because I can't select or convert or add the anchor.

You have a dwg with multiple sets of different blocks and a circle you want to place on the insert point of each set blocks.
You select the circle then select one of the blocks in the set and the circle is placed on the insert point of each of the blocks in that set. It would save time from doing it manually and save on mistakes.
I am having difficulty with the display of my point numbers and description when plotting. I am doing piping desing and utilizing Civil 3D points for the coardinates and elevations to display in a point table. For my viewport, in the properties dialogue box, under the Shade Plot option, I have selected Legacy Hidden due to needing my pipes to display properly only to have my points not display properly. If I opt for Legacy Wireframe or As Displayed, my points display correctly but my pipes do not. Any clue as to how I can have both display properly?
