View 2 RepliesI make banners for our company newsletter that we do every month and they vary from month to month in design. I am working a few months ahead and creating a banner for our March newsletter, which I'm doing a Saint Patrick's Day design.
To do this, I am using a JPG of a four leaf clover that I want to remove the white space behind it and then set it to different opacities to add to a plain, green banner.
I do these steps:
1. Open the file.
2. Create a new layer.
3. Drag the new layer under the original file.
4. Use the magic tool, set to appropriate tolerance and select all the white space. It does the moving dotted lines around all the space I want removed.
5. Press "Delete" to remove the white space.
I did the same procedure yesterday and it worked fine. Today, it won't delete the white space. Is it because this image is a JPG?
how to make an image have a transparent backround! the image was imported as a png file, but was still pixelated so i turned it into a bitman by using the clipart outline smoothing feature. but when i try to export it as a png, there is a white block behind the image. i do have the transparenty box selected when trying to export, but that white block behind the image is still there.

I would just like for the flower to appear directly on the color background of the page. I hope this makes sense. I just want to make the background of the picture itself completely transparent. How can I do this using Photo Shop?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have an image that I am using as an app icon (embedded in a basic4android compilation). The image is in .png form and is a square with rounded corners. I want the corners to be transparent. When I outline the area I want to make transparent and then select clear it changes the current color (black) to white. When I use this saved file in my compilation the icon that it produces has corners that are white not transparent. How should I be doing this?

The thing is i don't know how do this, and could use some help. What I tried so far is that I add to the original image an alpha channel which is the original image inverted, but that did not show me the checkered bg.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am a hardcore Photoshop nut lol but I have recently approached learning how to use 'AI' to create my company Logo so that It can be Vector based and therefore Re-size it according to web and print as needed.
You've properly encountered this problem lots of times and i'm properly being really silly, but I am having major problems re-sizing and it, causing pixelisation on my Image, esp when going to 'Save for web and Devices'.
I did have 'drop down shadow effects' on the Logo but I believe I have deleted all of that in Appearences, Incase it is the raster effects causing the problems... but even back at its seemingly basics, I'm still having the same problems.
I tried making the Image smaller using the 'scale' & 'transform' tool before taking it into 'Save for Web and Devices' and even on my artboard it now looks pixelated..
My Artboard size is 1200 x 1200 and in 'Save for Web and Devices' it says the Original Image size is 800 x 600 (which I believe is the size of the document I chose when starting my project)...
I tried Playing with the PPI in the 'Document Raster Effects' settings, this doesn't seem to be making a difference.. Infact I'm sure playing with all the settings has almost caused my edges already to not be as sharp in view: 100% (RGB/Overprint preview) as they once were and I don't think I have the original document to go back too, due to thinking the Logo was fine, before relizing I had a problem in resizing & saving.
I have tried all of the save options in 'Save for Web and Devices' but still the Image looks pixelized, even when ignoring previewer and going ahead to re-opening the saved Image.
I've spent hours trawling the web tirelessly without any result and after being so happy with the Logo, it would be such a shame to have to delete it and try and start all over again either in Illustrator or back in Photoshop (where I know the quality won't be as good)..

View 4 Replies View Related I want to point out I am currently exporting my image by going to File>Export>.PNG>(72PPI+Transparent).The issue im running into is; for example when I am exporting text, I am also exporting a certain amount of area around my image. How can I export the exact outline of my image?
When I wanted to use my text image for a website I was building I noticed I couldn't get the image to center. I opened the image in paint and noticed I was exporting the area around my image as well and not just the image itself.
I would like to export the text outline only. As you can see in paint I am exporting a fixed area around my image.
I've built a 3D cylinder shape in Illlustrator and have applied plastic shading. Looks OK in Illustrator, but when imported into InDesign or opened in Photoshop, it appears to be partially transparent AND what looked to be smooth shading in Illustrator appears as a strange pattern in PS and InD, etc.We're getting close to final and this will be printing as it's a logomark.Is there something I'm missing that would make this shape a solid shape (instead of appearring to be transparent) and reproduce well? I just want it to look in PS and InD (and on paper) the way it looks in Illustrator.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a jpg image that I use multiple times in an illustrator file, and I wanted to be more efficient by making it into a symbol. So I embedded the image, made it a symbol, then updated my Illustrator file, replacing the instances of that image with the symbol-version of the image. I then tried to add a drop shadow effect to one of those symbols. Although the effect was listed on the appearance menu, it didn't actually show up visibly on the screen. However, if I added a non-shadow effect to the symbol (e.g. blur .1 pixel) then added a drop shadow, the shadow would then appear. Oddly, I have other images that I have made into symbols where this problem does not occur. Perhaps it's some weird image format issue?

I'm using Illustrator CS6 trial version (16.0.3 64 bit). on a Win 8-64 laptop.
I've been using illustrator to vectorize some of my png files I've modified and rasterized in photoshop. The image trace feature has worked fine for me until yesterday when it started making my images very impreciese and blurry. I'll attach a before and after shot of exactly what I'm talking about.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a logo file, saved as PNG, that is black on transparent. Very simple file, just stylized black lettering on a transparent background. In Illustrator CS5, I can place that file, do a "Live Trace" in "Lettering" mode, and Illustrator will correctly ignore the transparent areas when I expand the trace. After expanding, I'm left with scalable paths and an easy way to change the fill color to have the logo work with my background.
Fast forward to Illustrator CS6. I try to do the same thing but a) there is no "lettering" preset for Image Trace and b) there is no setting I have yet found to cause Illustrator to ignore the transparent areas when I expand. If I then fill, everything inside the bounds of the placed image (the square containing the logo) is filled with that color. The only way I've found to get similar results is to go through the layers panel after the Expand and deselect each piece of the image that should not be filled. I have a hard time believing this is the desired approach.
I am trying to use Pathfinder>Minus front to create transparent rays over text outlines, but am having trouble. how it should appear: URL.. It's nearly exactly how I'd like it to look but i just want it so that when I put the graphic on an image the rays don't show up as white but are instead transparent.

i created a logo in adobe illustrator cc and i wanted to saved it for web in order to be able to copy and paste the logo where ever I wanted but the image looks extremely pixelated after saving as an png, and for web.
URL....I have a green vector background in illustrator and then I placed psd image over it and created PDF for press and under Color bitmap images I selected no compression.After viewing image in Acrobat all seems ok, I even checked with picker, but after I send this to printer (xerox in thsi case) I end up with this: Both .psd and .ai are in CMYK color space. For this particular case I could use mask to cover up that transparent space but my original project has shadows which I cannot mask by vector :S.
how to set color profiles or whatever is neccessary to avoid this issue. One thing I was using was, opening PDF in Photoshop and flatening all. Problem is that sometimes I need vector files and cut lines for cutter. Don't want to have bitmap, if I can have a vector? Also when I flaten image I do get same CMYK values in photoshop (with picker) than I have in Illustrator on vector object, but when I print this they don't match at all.
I want to make the background of some images transparent so I select the backgrounds and try to delete them, though sometimes if it was white the background remains white and other times it pops up with the fill panel asking me what I want to fill the area with and transparent pixels are not an option, and other times I know I have deleted the background and it has shown me the checkerboard pattern indicating that it was indeed transparent.
