I've noticed that the Magic Mouse for Apple Macs seems to interrupt actions when the finger is left on the surface of the mouse after scrolling about. Adobe, is this something that you're looking into?
View 1 Repliesi just installed CS6 on a mid2009 17" MacbookPro and am experiencing an annoying issue with scrolling to zoom. I use a magic mouse, and do not have this problem in CS4. Whenever I scroll the mouse "wheel" to zoom in, it zooms in at like 20% or so levels everytime, instead of smoothly as it did in CS4.
I checked preferences, and I have animated zoom enabled. I have a NVIDIA GeForce 9400M 256 MB video card. Also, here are other details:
Processor 2.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
Memory 8 GB 1333 MHz DDR3Â
I have Revit 2011 installed in Windows using Bootcamp on my Mac, and I would like to know how to Pan and Zoom properly using my Magic Mouse. Theres support for AutoCAD, something called MagicPrefs, but I was wondering if this works for Revit also??
View 4 Replies View RelatedI just got PS after using Paint Shop Pro for years, and since I'm so adjusted to the PSP tools, I'm wondering if there's a way to customize Photoshop to what I'm used to. At the moment, this means reversing the direction PS zooms when I scroll the mouse wheel, and also getting it to actually ZOOM whenever I do this, rather than scrolling. Is there something I can do to tweak these settings?

View 14 Replies View RelatedI am having this problem for the first time with my most recent install of 2014 on a Windows 8 computer. When copying a line or any other object along another line as a base, when I type the distance that I want to copy the object, it deselcts the autosnap vector that I had specified. For example, now when I copy an object along a line at various intervals, I have to move my mouse after entering the distance each time to enable the object snap to reselect the direction I want to copy it (along a line that should stay selected through the object snap: nearest).Â
Is there some object snap or dynamic input setting that I need to change?
I used to have an Illustrator action that selected all shapes with a similar fill and stroke. But since actions are completely broken in Illustrator CC, I've tried getting used to the Magic Wand tool, which basically does the same thing. Except in order to make it only select shapes that have the exact same stroke and fill like I want, you have to select all the checkboxes in the Magic Wand palette and set the tolerance values to zero. I don't mind doing that once, but Illustrator keeps reverting the tolerance setting to 32 and unchecking every box except "Fill Color" every time I restart Illustrator. I even tried setting the panel the way I want it in each New Document Profile and saving the files, but that had no effect.

I thought I've been doing that for several years now. However, now, clicking the fill does nothing. Clicking the stroke selects things, but clicking the fill doesn't.

I have placed a vector icon in Illustrator, it is a png file and the magic wand tool does not work at all.I click the icon and in the fill icon in the bar left, I just see a question mark.

I work on CS3 and have often the problem for the logos the Companies send me in .jpg to convert for their design as a vector file.
With vector magic it works always good to smooth with one click the curves full of pixels into a pixel free curve with clear boundary.
I had a look into the old discussion on this forum and found few things in the discussion "raster image .gif". I would like to get an addon that would be a 1 time buying and cheaper as a complete new investment into a whole soft like vector magic.
This was really easy using fireworks, how I can do this so I can get a transparent background.

Does illustrator allow me to make a selection of the parts I don't need (in a jpeg image) and delete them? Or is the only option Photoshop with the Magic Wand tool, although Illustrator has that one too?
I have a jpeg with a white background and solid colored clipart image. I need to remove the colored part of the jpeg image with magic wand in illustrator cs6 and make it a vector image. The magic wand doesn't seem to do anything in illustrator. I did it in Photoshop and saved it as a PNG with trnsprnt background opened it up in illustrator and it was all jagged. It is such a simple image, only two colors, blue on white.

I don't want it highlighting the features automatically. I want it to highlight once I click over a feature. My colleagues and I are very distraught by this feature, and will be discontinuing our use of your products that do not allow us to turn this feature off. I'm not sure why you'd want to weed your customer base like this, assuming that I can't turn this option off from the research I've done pouring through the hundreds of complaints related to this issue. this is my set of saved actions...i was told to paste it in here...is this what you meant?
I use a series of actions that were created in CS6 and are not that complicated. They resize and align an object to coordinates with the center reference point and proportions constrained. I assumed that they would translate to other coworker’s machines with cs5 and cs5.5, but they do not work. The actions appear to load properly, but do not run like they should.

When I hit the assigned hotkey, the selected object moves, but not to the correct location and does not change size as it is supposed to. Also, I can try to manually play individual parts of the action (moving to a reference point or resizing to a certain width) and nothing happens. Not even a wiggle. When I do try to do them one at a time, the small downward triangle button that reveals details of the action disappears and when I click again I get an error message that says 'the object "transform panel" is not available.' I assume this means that action is looking for a location that has changed name or something, but I don't know how they work well enough to spot any differences when viewing the action with a text editor.

All of the computers I tried had win7. Mine is CS6 (v 16.0.2 64-bit), 2 others had CS5 and 5.5.
Ever since I upgraded to CS6 (3 months ago) I am having crashes all the time with actions.

I have tried to remake the actions, reinstall Illustrator, disable font embedding, nothing works. I have posted the crash to Adobe many times but no fix, obviously.

Seems to be the saving that crashes Illustrator.
Since upgrading to Illustrator CC, my actions haven't been working right. All the details from certain steps are completely gone. For example, if a step involved rotating the selection by 90°, the "Rotate" step will still be there, but there is no longer a disclosure arrow next to it with the value of 90°. Also, the Fkey that was previously bound to the action has been removed.

I have another action that selects all shapes with a similar fill and stroke, and the "Select Similar" step is still there, but again, the disclosure arrow is gone that included the information of "Fill & Stroke". Also, the Fkey associated with that action is gone as well.

When I restore my actions from a saved copy, they are retained from file to file, but once I quit Illustrator and reopen it, the actions break again.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am not entirely sure why but all of a sudden my abienlity to drag anything with my mouse has been disabbled. When I try, it makes the ding noise that goes with being unable. I can still move the objects with the arrow keys. I am not that experienced with CS6 having only recently up graded.

Additionally, I'd like scrolling my mouse wheel to zoom in and out, rather than scroll the screen up and down. I know this can be done by holding Spacebar to use the left mouse button to drag the screen, but I'd like to be able to do it with my scroll wheel alone, especially since it doesn't already seem to be filling any other important function.
View 4 Replies View RelatedSince installing Illustrator CS6 I am finding that my mouse jumps around the screen erratically while trying to draw making it almost impossible to use the program. It is particularly bad when I connect to a projector for training purposes. This doesn't happen with any previous version of Illustrator (or any other program for that matter). I know it isn't something as simple as my mouse because I tried several different ones but to no avail.

I am using Illustrator CS6 for Windows on Windows 7 and my problem is mainly on my laptop which is a Dell Vostro 1520.
Pressing an F key in CS6 to call an action seems to cause the application to "double up" the action.

At first it was not obvious what was happening, as some shorter/simpler actions run so quickly that it just appeared to be a malfunction with various commands.

This happens with actions recorded in other versions, as well as those created directly in CS6. Running the action in button mode or by hitting the play button in the Actions pane do not cause this doubling. Only with F keys.

We've been able to work around this by inserting stops via the action menu.
Illustrator CS6 (16.0.3) on Mac OS 10.6.8.
I've set up an action that will add crop marks to a selected object. The action works great when clicking the play button on the panel, but when I assign a Function Key to the action, it runs the action twice (giving me 2 set of crop marks). I've tried different Function Keys thinking it was a keyboard shortcut conflict, but that has made no difference.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI downloaded a couple of actions from the web to my actions palette and they worked fine, but then I got greedy and downloaded a few more and that’s when things went south. Now none of the actions work - by not working I mean when I mouse over the Play Selection icon at the bottom of the action palette I get that little circle with a line through it. This happens with the PS default actions as well (I also get the circle on the Stop Playing/Recording and Begin Recording icons).
Somewhere in the following is probably what messed things up.
I downloaded actions to my computer in zip files. Copied them over to the actions folder (or somewhere) and unzipped them. I went back to the actions palette and hit “load actions” and loaded them. On the second set of actions that I downloaded I remember thinking “why am I copying and pasting these files - I bet I should cut and paste them, so I did and that may have been the start of the great crumble of 2004. PhotoShop help says: (under Saving and loading actions) “Actions are automatically saved the the Actions Palette folder in PS7.0 Settings folder. If this file is lost or removed, the actions you created are lost”.
I have searched for the settings folder and couldn’t find it, but the actions still show up on the actions palette - they just don’t run.
I’m a little fuzzy on the details on the above steps. In fact, I probably did something different on each download.
one more thing, I reloaded PhotoShop, but still nothing.
