May 13, 2012I have all CS5 and Snow Leopard 10.6.8 When I run a loaded Action it gets half way finished and crashes. I have 9GB RAM and no other app's running at the time.

We use this to take, for example, 200 images from a set folder, run an action to change them into a different colour and save in a different folder, we need to do this 20 times on the same images running a different script each time to change them into a different colour and save them in the same folder (with different file extensions)

Is there a way we can instruct Photoshop to run all of these 20 scripts (one after the other in a queue as it where) without having to "Babysit" it and ask it to run each one off ourselves?
VideoStudio :: X3 Crashes When Running Project?
Sep 10, 2010My VideoStudio Pro X3 crashes every time I run a project. The projects vary in length from 15 seconds to 30 minutes and comprise MP4 files in one and MOV files in another. I have applied the latest patch, but that didn't work. When it crashes I get the following error message:An unhandled win32 exception occurred in vstudio.exe [9600]. Each time the number in square brackets changes as well. I have an HP PC running XP with plenty of grunt and 900GB of disk space and 3.84GB RAM. The files are coming from my Digital Video Camera HiD with a resolution of 1920x1080. I have the latest versions of Quicktime and Bonjour.
Since purchasing the product last year I have not been able to use it and each time I fill in the contact form to send to Corel support, I hit the Continue button and nothing happens, so have not been able to get any support from Corel. There is no error message or reason for not being able to contact Corel.

May 31, 2013our photoshop cs6 (with latest update to 13.0.4) keeps crashing daily and is not stable at all. so we would work with cs 5 again, as this version is very stable and wont crash even once in a year.

we are daily/"9-5" working at a photographers´ studio and use 2 different macs:

- brand new mac pro 6-core (2010/Westmere) with 48GB RAM under system 10.8.3
- old mac pro with Two 2.66 GHz Dual-core Intel Xeon "Woodcrest" from 2006 with 16GB RAM under system 10.7.6
(both with standard equipped/shipped graphics cards)

cs6 crashes daily whith following tasks:
- frequent crashs: using "motion blur"
- frequent crashs: using "refine edge"
- sometimes using "transform tool"

during our tests, we found out, that "disable graphics card" (photoshop>settings>performance) in the mac pro from 2006, would prevent a crash, when using "refine edge". in the latest mac pro from 2010, we did not find any solution to prevent a crash.

a "crash", we define as follows: during the mentioned tasks, photoshop is gone from the screen in the blink of second, and an osx sign appears "photoshop has crashed"..
Photoshop :: CC Crashes Extremely Slow When Running And Opening PSB Files
Oct 10, 2013I'm working with a 2.73G PSB file that will be printed in a large format printer and eventually end up as a vinyl wrap for a cargo trailer. I've never worked with a Photoshop document this large but from what I've read, PSB's can be up to 4G.

When I open the file, photoshop goes through the trouble of loading the file (the progress bar loads all the way) but when it trys to actually open the document, I get a message from Windows that the program has encountered a problem and has to be closed. At an early stage of working on the document, when the file was less intense with layers and blending modes, the file would open but crash when saving.

The funny thing is that my co-worker runs a MAC with lower specs than mine and the file opens and seems to run stably. I'm thinking it could be a RAM issue but according to CC spec's my machine should work fine?

I've also read that to access your full RAM's capability you have to be running 64 bit but I'm not sure about this?
AutoCAD Inventor :: 2013 Crashes When Running ILogic Rules
Mar 7, 2013I am having a problem with Inventor 2013. Every time I run/edit then run an iLogic rule my Inventor crashes. I have sent the report in to autodesk, but I need a fix for now.
I have tried a soft reboot, hard reboot, only opening inventor while no other programs are running, disconnection from the internet, etc.

Feb 28, 2012This is a problem that has eluded me for a while. Im running Lightroom 3 and photoshop cs5 (both have the latest updates) . Now I've created droplets that run various actions. In lightroom I export images and use export actions dialog box to have lightroom run the droplet.
However now I get a "photoshop cs5 has stopped responding" and a "droplets can not communicate with photoshop.
Im running windows 7 64bit
Things I've tried
restarting both programs rebooting the computer running lightroom and photoshop as an admin recreating the droplets and telling windows to run the droplets as an admin

Jan 13, 2014I'm just starting out trying to make a plugin for Illustrator CC and have been a bit stuck the past few days, so I have a few questions. The plugin I'm trying to make would have it where when you mouse over a path, an annotation pops up to display the length of the path, reguardless of what tool you have selected.Â

The major question I have is if it is possible to make a plugin that runs in the background without having to select it as a tool?

I've been going over the SDK and guides and have tried altering the annotator sample project along with trying to make it from scratch, but I haven't gotten the results I want. I got Annotator to display the length of paths, but I can't remove it's tool properties or make it run like it's always selected. When I've been tryng to build from scratch, I don't see how to track the cursor since it seems to need the AIToolSuite. I've also tried to use AINotifierSuite with kAIArtSelectionChangedNotifier, but haven't gotten it to work correctly and it wouldn't work just by mousing over paths if I had.

Illustrator :: Running Slow Because Of Large File Size?
May 29, 2013Is my illustrator running slow? I have an i7 3770K, 16gb ram, gtx 660i 2g, h100i, ax1200i and maximus formula v. I'm running dual 24" 1920x1080 monitors. File size is 800x600 pixals with 5 layers and 100+ paths in each layer. Is the program running slow because the file is too big or is there a problem with illustrator?

I understand that Adobe's JavaScript Toolkit would let you build a progress-bar dialog, but the delays are rarely long enough to justify such a thing. All the same, a change of cursor would reassure users (and not just me!) that things were indeed happening.
Illustrator :: CS6 Running Action On Multiple Files In A Folder
Jul 19, 2013I created a action in Illustrator CS6 (on a PC) which opens PNG files, scales them onto a 8.5 x 11 page, saves them as a PDF into a output folder on my desktop and then closes the page. The action works great and does exactly what I had hoped for.
Here is my issue: I now have a need to do this on multiple files at the same time. Using the Illustrator Help menu, I found out about Batch processing. The tutorial says that a batch can be run on a single file or on a folder of files. Bingo! That's what I want. Problem is, I can't get it to work.

After setting up the batch with the following settings: (note: I didn't use a destination folder because I have the action saving the pdf into an output folder on the desktop).
According to the help page, it said to use Override Action "Open" commands which Opens the files from the specified folder and ignores any Open commands recorded as part of the original action. I thought this is what I needed to open all the files in the folder, because when recording my action, I had to use the open command to open a png file. It wouldn't just let me choose a folder. If I don't have the open command in the action, nothing happens.

My main issue is getting multiple files from within my input folder to open when running the action. The only file that opens is the file that I recorded while creating the action. If I remove that file from the folder, nothing happens at all.

Illustrator :: Actions Not Working From CS6 To CS5
Dec 20, 2012I use a series of actions that were created in CS6 and are not that complicated. They resize and align an object to coordinates with the center reference point and proportions constrained. I assumed that they would translate to other coworker’s machines with cs5 and cs5.5, but they do not work. The actions appear to load properly, but do not run like they should.

When I hit the assigned hotkey, the selected object moves, but not to the correct location and does not change size as it is supposed to. Also, I can try to manually play individual parts of the action (moving to a reference point or resizing to a certain width) and nothing happens. Not even a wiggle. When I do try to do them one at a time, the small downward triangle button that reveals details of the action disappears and when I click again I get an error message that says 'the object "transform panel" is not available.' I assume this means that action is looking for a location that has changed name or something, but I don't know how they work well enough to spot any differences when viewing the action with a text editor.

All of the computers I tried had win7. Mine is CS6 (v 16.0.2 64-bit), 2 others had CS5 and 5.5.

I have tried to remake the actions, reinstall Illustrator, disable font embedding, nothing works. I have posted the crash to Adobe many times but no fix, obviously.

Illustrator :: Actions Are Broken In CC
Oct 10, 2013Since upgrading to Illustrator CC, my actions haven't been working right. All the details from certain steps are completely gone. For example, if a step involved rotating the selection by 90°, the "Rotate" step will still be there, but there is no longer a disclosure arrow next to it with the value of 90°. Also, the Fkey that was previously bound to the action has been removed.

I have another action that selects all shapes with a similar fill and stroke, and the "Select Similar" step is still there, but again, the disclosure arrow is gone that included the information of "Fill & Stroke". Also, the Fkey associated with that action is gone as well.

When I restore my actions from a saved copy, they are retained from file to file, but once I quit Illustrator and reopen it, the actions break again.
Illustrator :: F Keys Cause Actions To Double Up In CS6
May 24, 2013Pressing an F key in CS6 to call an action seems to cause the application to "double up" the action.

At first it was not obvious what was happening, as some shorter/simpler actions run so quickly that it just appeared to be a malfunction with various commands.

This happens with actions recorded in other versions, as well as those created directly in CS6. Running the action in button mode or by hitting the play button in the Actions pane do not cause this doubling. Only with F keys.

We've been able to work around this by inserting stops via the action menu.
Illustrator :: Actions Repeating With Function Key

I've set up an action that will add crop marks to a selected object. The action works great when clicking the play button on the panel, but when I assign a Function Key to the action, it runs the action twice (giving me 2 set of crop marks). I've tried different Function Keys thinking it was a keyboard shortcut conflict, but that has made no difference.

Aug 31, 2004I downloaded a couple of actions from the web to my actions palette and they worked fine, but then I got greedy and downloaded a few more and that’s when things went south. Now none of the actions work - by not working I mean when I mouse over the Play Selection icon at the bottom of the action palette I get that little circle with a line through it. This happens with the PS default actions as well (I also get the circle on the Stop Playing/Recording and Begin Recording icons).
Somewhere in the following is probably what messed things up.
I downloaded actions to my computer in zip files. Copied them over to the actions folder (or somewhere) and unzipped them. I went back to the actions palette and hit “load actions” and loaded them. On the second set of actions that I downloaded I remember thinking “why am I copying and pasting these files - I bet I should cut and paste them, so I did and that may have been the start of the great crumble of 2004. PhotoShop help says: (under Saving and loading actions) “Actions are automatically saved the the Actions Palette folder in PS7.0 Settings folder. If this file is lost or removed, the actions you created are lost”.
I have searched for the settings folder and couldn’t find it, but the actions still show up on the actions palette - they just don’t run.
I’m a little fuzzy on the details on the above steps. In fact, I probably did something different on each download.
one more thing, I reloaded PhotoShop, but still nothing.

Dec 30, 2012I used to have my actions set up so i could easily save PDFs with different pdf presets, depending what the work was for (print, magazine ad with bleed, newspaper ad without bleed etc).
Now when I try CS6 and set up these actions in Illustrator it seems like the action wont use the preset I set it up with, and just defaults to the last one used.

Is there something I'm missing or is this indeed a flaw in CS6? Its pretty time-saving for me so it would be a big deal-breaker upgrading to CS6.

I can get it to clear and save but I'll be darned if I can get the Fit the Artboard to the Selected Object to register in the recording of the action. No matter what shortcuts I use, menues I use it just won't record it. Is this just a thing Illustrator won't do or any I just missing something?

I do those 3 things listed above ALL the time and it would be nice it I could make those 3 things into 1 action, then add that action to a hot key on my tablet.
Illustrator :: Restore Custom Actions After Crash?
Jan 5, 2013 I just spent two days automating a large project with Illustrator CS6 actions. I suppose I should have expected Illustrator to crash at some point during this process but I didn't and, of course, it did. Upon starting Illustrator back up after the crash, I found that all dozen or so of my complex actions were gone.

I did a bit of googling and it seems that AI doesn't save these to disk anywhere; rather it just keeps them in memory until they're explicitly saved. That is, creating an action doesn't seem to actually store it anywhere.
