I have installed a third-party plug-in with the Adobe Extension Manager, but it does not appear in the Scripts menu. I can access it by going to Scripts > Other and navigating to the plug-in, but by default it doesn't appear in the menu. Do I have to reset Illustrator?
View 4 RepliesI have been going crazy trying to get my custom scripts to appear in the "Scripts" menu item under "File" in Illustrator CS4. I've tried placing them in Presets > Scripts, I've tried creating a folder under "Plug-Ins" called "Scripts" and placing them there, and several other places in an attempt to find anything that will work, but so far nothing has. I've also tried deleting the Illustrator Prefs but that didn't work.

I do this because I like to experiment with a lot of styles during the creative process and prefer to have them quickly available. When I click the panel menu icon in the Styles panel, the list of available styles fills my screen. However, not all of the installed styles appear.
• Is this a bug?
• Is there a technical limit to the number of styles that can be loaded at any one time?
• How does Photoshop decide which styles to show if it doesn't show all installed styles?
• Does where the styles are installed (program presets folder vs. user appdata folders) make a difference?
• Is there any way to scroll the list of styles when there are too many to display in the pop-up window?
The computer I use (a work laptop) is running Photoshop CS 6 and Windows Home Premium x64. It has a 3td gen. Core i7 processor with 8gb of RAM and a dedicated video card.

I have a problem with Illustrator CS6 on Win7 x86 on one of our users' machines. The font Arial Narrow is installed, MS Word / Framemaker pick it up and you can use it, but Illustrator and InDesign won't see the font. So my user can't use Arial Narrow as the family so can't select the font for bold/italics/underline. He can only choose narrow as a sub style of the Arial family, but Arial Narrow has been installed seperately.
The font has also been placed in the Common subfolder for adobe softwares, but after that it still won't be found.What has been tried:
Uninstall and Reinstall the fontAdd font to font folders for adobe products (both common and product specific)Clearing Windows and Adobe font caches ..All these steps have not solved our problem.
I am planning to buy Illustrator and a MacBook air / pro, but the macs comes with a flash drive, and it is stated that Illustrator cannot be installed on flash drives.Can this really be true? It must be the way all new laptops are going.

When I click "install" it goes through a downloading process but then I don't get any download (that I can find) and nothing has changed and I still can't launch Illustrator. InDesign and Photoshop seem to be running fine. It's only Illustrator which is giving me this problem.
after installing new fonts I downloaded, I cannot get a sample, or even the name listed, of the font in the character panel of any of the new fonts. All the previously installed fonts show up fine. The new fonts have samples in Photoshop, Microsoft Word, etc, just not in Illustrator. Is there some way I can change this in Illustrator?

A customer specific font has been installed in Windows and shows up in Notepad, Microsoft Office 2010 and other programs including Photoshop CS6. For InDesign I had to copy it to the "Programdirectory"Fonts folder and this worked fine. Only Illustrator CS6 doesn't show this Font (a TrueType font "cust.ttf") as available when I want to format a text with it. I've searched Google and Adobe but no luck so far. All of the useful ones such as copy, paste, new, open, etc. Save for Web is still working, and a handful of commands I don't use are working, but not the ones I use all the time. I look in the menus for the commands for copy and group and such, but there's no shortcut assigned. And I've been looking online how to fix this, but everyone is saying go into Edit>Keyboard Shortcuts and voila. The only problem, is my Edit menu doesn't have a Keyboard Shortcuts option, and I can't figure out why.

I can get what I want by using a seperate shape, but that defeats the purpose of the single graphic style. I thought I could achieve the look using an effect under Effect>Pathfinder
But that doesn't get the result I expected. Below you can see both what the graphic style currently looks like, and what I want to add to it (the gloss) hopefully within the same graphic style. Is this possible?
I recently upgraded my 07 macbook pro to a 2012 macbook pro with retina display running 2.6 GHz Intel Core i7 with 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 memory. Is there some way to abrreviate the text menu items ("Stroke", "Opacity", "Character", "Paragraph", "Transform") to "S", "O", "C", "P", and "T", this would save space (working with two windows juxtaposed) and eliminates need to access the drop down menu on the right if working window is smaller.
Perhaps this is too deep for the Preferences to reach... (but maybe it shouldn't be)
Is there any way to make this scroll bar appear? I can't each time try font by font to find the suitable one.
