InDesign :: How To Change Margins In ID After A Document Is Defined

Mar 15, 2014

We are designing a book in Id and already have a dcument defined.  We have searched high and low.  But we find nowhere to change the margins of the document, post-creation.  (Of course those options present themselves, during document creation itself.)

InDesign :: Unable To Reset The Inside Margins On An Existing Document

Mar 27, 2014

I am unable to reset the inside margins on an existing document.  Editing "Document Preset" for inside margin has no effect on the document - I can change the numbers to any value with no effect on the document.  Changing gutter has no effect.  I have tried setting margins in the master pages, also no effect.  I can change margins by right click on an existing text frame (text frame options), but this only allows setting left or right frame margins for the whole document.

InDesign :: Merge Data Into Document Set Up With Multiple Records With Same Margins / Spacing

Feb 7, 2014

I have two questions about data merging....

1) I am going to consistently need to merge into a document that I will also set up with mulitple records with the same margins, spacing, etc.  Is there a way to 'save' templates so I don't have to start over each time I create a multiple record layout??

2) If I want to merge in a single document, but have the same column 'name' laid out various time, do I keep inserting 'name' from the data source? How will it know to proceed to the next one on the list and not repeat the same one over and over?

Illustrator Scripting :: Select All Items In Document Based On SpotColor?

Jun 28, 2012

I'm trying to select every object with the color "CutContour" So far I've been trying:

myDoc.selection = myDoc.spots.getByName("CutContour"); I guess this obviouslly wouldn't work though because myDoc.selection is looking for an array of objects. However, I can't figure out how to loop through all the objects in the document and check to see if they contain the SpotColor.

I want to use the Select > Same > Stroke Color , but I heard that using that in Javascript isn't available unless you have CS6 (which I currently don't). Is it true that accessing menu items through scripting is a feature in CS6?

Illustrator Scripting :: Select Objects That Fill Color In Document

Oct 14, 2013

If i want select objects that same fill color in document, I can use 'select - same - Fill color' function in Illustrator.

It's so fast. below 1 second.

But, If i want make it in Javascript, I can't do it like fast.

for(i=0; i<activeDocument.pathItems.length; i++){...}

If document have 10,000 objects, above script can't finish in even 60 seconds.

How Illustrator can traversal fast?

Is there something other way?

AutoCad :: A3 Size Print Style (420 X 297 Mm) With 5mm Margins All Around

Dec 19, 2007

I have set up an A3 size print style (420x297mm) with 5mm margins all around. i am plotting a drawing to its extents (400x277mm) which should leave 5mm between the drawing extents and the page margins. when i preview the page it looks perfect. however when i open the created .pdf the result is somewhat different. the spacing left to right is spot on but vertically the drawing is off the top of the page approximatly 15mm. i have tried many things to try centre the page but the closest i can get it is a 13mm margin at the bottom and 2mm margin at the top, achieved by unchecking the centre the plot box and inputting 0 for the y offset.

Lightroom :: Slight Bluish Tinge On Print Margins?

Dec 14, 2012

I built 3 profiles with ColorMunki for three different papers (I print with an Epson 3880).  Using each of the profiles, a slight bluish tinge appears in what I'll call the "margin" of the prints.  My tests were done on 4x6 paper, but the image was only about 5" wide--so there's a 1/2 inch "margin" between the edge of the image and the edge of the paper.  The bluish tinge shows up here, but doesn't extend into the white border of the print.  The weird part: the bluish tinge appears ONLY using the profiles.  If I choose "Managed by Printer" everything is fine.  No bluish tinge.

This could be related to LR 4.3, which I downloaded just before making and installing the profiles.

AutoCAD Print / Plot :: Margins On HP LaserJet With HP Universal Driver

Aug 8, 2011

Ever since updating our print server to use the HP Universal driver, my ability to tweak the non-printable margins has gone away.  In the past I was always able to easily tweak margins within my PC3 files using the "Modify Standard Paper Sizes (Printable Area)" tool.  Setting all four values to say "0.25" would result in an even 1/4" margin around all four edges of the paper.

Now however, that behavior is just plain different.  Using 0.25 all the way around results in plots that are partially shifted off the page.  Using different values for top, bottom, left and right results in one or two margins coming out much wider than I want.  The frustrating part is there seems to be no rhyme or reason between these values and the plot output.  The default values are 0.17 for Top/Bottom and 0.25 for Left/Right but even this results in uneven margins.  Only if I make the slightest of tweaks can I get any tiny bit of improvement, which is still not up to previous standards.  Anything larger and the output is much worse.  I've tried all 0.0, setting top/bot only. left/right only, but none of my combinations of values works.

On top of that there seems to be inconsistency between each printer, even when the printer Model is the same.  For example the output on my 9050DN printers range from just "Decent but not like before" to plain "awful".  My older 8150 DN models look the best but still do not match previous output.

Is there an alternative way to adjust paper margins?  Is there a new method to adjusting the "Modify Standard Paper Sizes (Printable Area)" ?

Lightroom :: 3 - Adding Unwanted Margins To All Photos In Print Module

May 17, 2012

I printed a few photos with the print function in lightroom 3 (print button). A few hours later, i reopened LR to print some more photos, and now the print button has been replaced with print to file. Print one button is all greyed out aswell.

Also, LR is adding unwanted margins to all photos in the print module, and when i try to 0 out the margin, LR tells me it needs a minimum margin...

All printer settings is as it was before.

What has happened?

I have been around all preferences and so on, but nothing changes.

Illustrator :: CS3 - Print - Output - Won't Allow To Select Separations

Aug 26, 2012

The prepping process should be really simple right?  Separate colour layers, using Illustrator, then print each layer onto transparency sheets.  Well I'm about to loose my mind.

The image is CMYK, its a single spot colour (I think) which is red and the outlines are black.  Printer is a Canon ix6500.

I can't seem to separate the colours in Illustrator CS3?!  Why?!  When selecting Print > Output > Mode > it won't allow me to select Colour Separations.

I've tried to overcome this by selecting Printer > Adobe Postscript and PPD > Canon ix6500 series.  This allows me to select Colour Separations, but then it won't print, it only saves it as a PDF, and prints it as is.

Photoshop :: Actions: Select By Document Name?

Aug 9, 2009

How can I select a document by its name? I have about 40 image files open, in which I'm attempting to create an action to copy elements from numerous documents into a common one. (which I've named "Common File") However  when playing this back, the action script refers to this document differently each time I've selected it.. sometimes its called  "document-42"  then it refers to it as "previous document" or "next document"I'm completely lost when trying to troubleshoot my actions without a proper document name.  Is there a way to circumvent this? thanks Jeff

Photoshop :: Print Full Document Info That Appears In Title Bar

Sep 12, 2012

In PS CS4 Mac, I used to be able to print the full document info that appears in the title bar, including the currently selected layer/group. This would print at the top of my document and might look like:

File Name.psd 100% (layer name, RGB/8)

I always thought this was a function of selecting "Label" in the Output window of the print dialogue box. However, it does not seem to be working anymore, and now it simply prints the file name, like this:

File Name.psd

How can I turn this feature back on so that I get the entire document window? Or another method to accomplish something similar? I am printing individual layers from a single document and having them automatically "labeled" is useful.
