View 1 RepliesI am trying to make a globe using a Equirectangular Vector Globe and a set of grid lines using the grid tool.I set everything up and set it all as a symbol. Do my half circle and revolve it, map the art work and size to fit. However when I look at my grid lines at 100% they are pixelated. At 300% they are not.

View 4 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to draw gridlines?
I have drawn them out by hand in the past, but wanted to know if there is a tool that could do it for me...
I was working in a drawing doing some copying/pasting from marquee selections. Somehow I now have a light blue line stretching horizontally from one side of the screen to the other. It runs out past the canvas of the drawing to the edges of the PS window.
I think it occured while I was switching tools with hotkeys and my computer lagged a little bit. It's like a gridline, but I can't find anyway to delete/turn off/move it. When I make a marquee it seems to snap to it as a boundary.
This line doesn't appear in other drawings, so it's just something that I've done in this particular file.
How I could make those gridlines i have in the top layer fading out to the right?

I have been having an issue when printing to PDF from AutoCAD my Excel spreadsheets show up with gridlines that are not there in there Excel or CAD. I have tried a number of things to eliminate that lines (see list below) but nothing has worked so far. I am running AutoCAD 2012 and Excel 2003. I have inserted the spreadsheet using "Paste Special" so that I can continue to work on the spreadsheet in excel and it will update in CAD.
- I have changes the Plot Quality. In Monochrome the lines print. Low quality the spreadsheet does not show up. High quality again nothing shows up
- In Excel I have turned off the "Gridlines" and re-copied into AutoCAD. The lines still show up when printing to PDF
- If I paste as an AutoCAD Entity I can not update in Excel
I was wondering how I can set my Elevation Text and Profile Major Gridlines at different intervals? It seems like there stuck to one another.
For example, I want my Major Gridlines at every 1.0m but show elevation at every 5.0m.
I tried 'splitting' the profile view with a hacked up style but it seems to be messing up my pipes. Is there a way I can make a vertical band of some sort?

I've encountered a very common problem with thin white lines appearing in some of my vector imagery in Illustrator CS5.5. Like with most stitching errors, I get this when using shapes with gradient transparency. There's also some shape distortion happening depending on the level of zoom I'm on.
I understand that this may go away when printed but I actually intend to e-mail a portfolio PDF that contains these vectors which is meant to be viewed on screen. I have tried turning the transparency of the objects to 99% but the problem would not go away. I've tried disabling anti-aliasing which removes the white lines but makes the vector jagged and not smoothed. The shapes that I'm using comes from text that's been broken apart with gradient transparency added to some parts.
The top is what the image looks like in actual size and the bottom are zoomed up to further show how it looks like.

But when using the Pen tool combined with ALT (on Windows) which temporarily activates the Convert tool

This means there is no way to remove a handle without switching tools (and therefore closing the path)

Deletes a swatch from the current document
Set appRef = CreateObject("Illustrator.Application")
Set documentSwatches = appRef.ActiveDocument.Swatches
Set swatchToDelete = documentSwatches(5)

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm still working on changing a document I didn't create. It needs to be CMYK, but I keep getting error messages when I save it that there is a spot color. I saw one spot color in the Swatches (at least I seem to remember that's what the little dot in the corner means) and I double clicked it and changed it to CMYK. And I selected the one item that seems to have that color and I changed it to the CMYK version. But the swatch still has the corner dot and I still get the error message when I save.

Some of these I wanted to keep and have embedded.
However, I would like to delete two in particular...which the images are no longer available or desired. But I see no way to do this.
I have tried to go to outline mode/wireframe view... and there are no boxes indicating where these images should go...so I can't delete those.
The two images that Illy keeps asking for when I open the file have a red ? to the right of the image names.
How can I permanently get rid of these?

I don't have much experience in Illustrator, and I'm experiencing an issue with the 3D Extrude & Bevel effect. Namely, there are "artifacts" where the anchor points lie on the paths.
Here's a sample:
You may need to zoom in on this image to see them, but there are thin white lines that bisect the extrusion where the anchor points lie. There are also abrupt changes in the appearance of the extrusion at these same points. These anomalies don't appear in Illustrator, and it's only when I convert to an image or PDF that they show up.
Is there any way to remove these artifacts using this effect? And if not, is there a different (better?) way to achieve the same effect?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI managed to create the Illustrator image I want & now need to take this image & use it in another application. However, regardless of which way I attempt to export - jpg, tif or png, I'm still getting the (white artboard) background, which I do not want. I attempted to create another box & blend the background to the background of the other application that I am using, but it's still apparent.
Also, with some conversion, my image became distorted or changed the image colors a little bit.
What's the process to remove unwanted backgrounds from Illustrator images? Here's some samples.
I am using stokes to mask out a shape I want. I want to remove these strokes altogether but retain the masked shape.
So for example the below image has three circles with a white stroke to form the shapes I desire.
I am perfectly happy with this when it is on a white background but I want the strokes to be transparent rather than white so that they cannot be seen on a non-white background (see below).
Obviously if I just make the strokes transparent I lose the desired shape.
This is what I am trying to achieve (this was done in Photoshop but I want to achieve the same in Illustrator).
