Spec. Illustrator CS5, Windows XP Pro.
Is there a way to remove selected vertices with the keyboard, without deleting them and the section of line they once represented?
All the key combos I've tried just delete the line section and vertices, when I really just want to remove the vertices.
I realise the > tool can do this but that's painfully slow when there's a bunch of them.
I have two shapes placed next to each other but the top section displays is a faint line to the left. How do I use the Path Eraser Tool to delete/remove that piece? Or is there a better way to remove?
Note:
Top image displays without path displayed...
Bottom section displays with path displayed...
How do i make a image more sharp and not so blurry whitout making it look bad?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm hoping to get some tips on new techniques I can use to blur or remove distracting backgrounds from photos.
The usual kinda photo I'm working with is a portrait of someone in a challenging situation where I have no control over the background, usually there are people and bright colored objects behind my subject.
First I applied lens-blur and masked the subject but it takes time and my subject is usually white and it creates a blurry edge that looks ugly but by masking back and forth and a little cloning I can usually make it nice but it takes to much time..
After doing that for some time I created a background with a pixelated mosaic filter, it looks nice and people are pleased with the result but the problem is that the squares sometimes bleed color on the edges what makes it time consuming again.
So long story short: How to take the focus of distracting backgrounds in a way that is fast to produce but looks classy at the same time?
In this particular drawing I have a layer I can see in my Layers Properties Manager but I cannot find in my drawing and it will not let me remove it.
this is a record of what I have just done:

I've used Xara for a while now, but I've never figured out how to remove or delete a curve edit handle. I mainly want to get rid of ones that are created spontaneously when I add/delete other points on a shape. Attached is an example where the curved cusp of the arrow came, seemingly, from nowhere. All I want to do is restore the angular property. I've tried moving the handle to be on top of the point indicator, but that's an imprecise action ... that often leads to the shape spinning wildly.
View 6 Replies View RelatedAdobe Lightroom is amazing. Hear this, when you need to delete one image it pops up a dialog box and asks ou if I want to remove the photo from catalog or delete from HD. When you have multiple images selected, Lightroom cares less to ask you and just deletes them. Here is the flaw. Aparently with lightroom you can create a selection within selected group of photos (thats amazing I know). When you select a particular photo within selected group and you want to delete that one photo, Lightroom just deletes all the selected photos. That means, if you selected all the photos in your catalog, it will delete them without any warning, just like that.
Now, why am I ranting about this? Because of this double selection business, sometimes you are not aware that you have multiple photos selected; sometimes you still think you only have one photo selected. So when you think you're deleting only one photo you are deleting multiple photos, and Lightroom does not even warn you or ask you "Are you sure you want to delete 5,000 photos?". This is driving me nuts, I already delete multiple photos from the catalog several times. Yes, you can dig your trash and add them back, but all the editing and adjustments you may have done to your photos, evaporated.
How I can enable something in Lightroom to warn me if I'm deleting multiple images?
Stoked to be able to pull photos and video from my iPhone via LR and skip iPhoto. But it didn't give me the option to 'move' the photos just to copy them. So now I have them all on my laptop but need to delete them from my iPhone to make more room. Deleting on the iPhone is a tetious one by one (checkmarking them) process.

I have some random curves (already created) and I want to blur them just from one side to have the same blur distance and effect one the whole curve.
To more precisely describe what I need, I need to create gradient with direction of normal for every "point". The best example I have found so far are borders in Civilization IV game. Here are two examples:

As you can see, there is a solid curve, which gradually blends (i.e. alpha channel is lowered) till the gradient disappears. I have the solid curve and the question is, what would be the simplest way how to do this (the number of curves is around 100) gradient.
I would like remove(delete) all brealkine sets inluded in definition of surface.

And everything I find about blur is the new blur filters....

View 7 Replies View RelatedThere's a gaussian and radial blur. What's so different about a motion blur?
I can create a sudo-motion blur by grouping several objects and moving one object off the page, then moving the center of the radial blur to that side, in the radial blur dialog. It would be much easier with a motion blur effect.
Another workaround is to blend 2 objects of different transparencies, but I can't save it as a graphic style. Transform would work, if transparency of "duplicate" objects could be altered. I don't see a way to do that either.
Looking for some creative solutions for motion blur effect, THAT CAN BE SAVED AS A GRAPHIC STYLE, I'd like to hear about them.
I have a shape in illustrator CS6 that I'm trying to edit. When I try to click on a point with the Delete Anchor Point Tool nothing happens however I am able to select the point using the Direct Selection Tool and then remove it using the "Remove selected anchor points" option in the Control palette. Same issue with trying to use the Convert Anchor Point Tool.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI just opened a new document in Illustrator CS5 and went to apply drop shadow to a shape I made and the "blur" slider is greyed out (I can't use it). It's also greyed out on other style panels such as outer glow, etc.
-Tried closing Illustrator and opening again, nothing.
-Tried Command+Option+Shift to reset Illustrator, nothing.
-Tried restarting the computer, nothing.
How not to get chunky blur results in Illustrator? the screengrab shows what I mean...in the blurred portion, you can clearly see square "chunks" like maybe that's the best resolution it could do...matters not even if I scale up the art to be blurred...
View 21 Replies View RelatedI'm using Mac OSX and have just upgraded to CS4, from Illustrator 10. Our house style is a gaussian blur of 10 pixels, but it doesn't display correctly in CS4 - it's much thinner. I've had this problem before and just exported from CS4 then created the blur in Illustrator 10. On Wednesday last week I tried CS4 again and the blurs displayed at the correct size, then on Friday afternoon (I had used the blur tool successfully in the morning) it started making the blurs too thin again.
It's set to 100% on all the different projects with 10 pixel blur, so why are my gaussian blurs thinner in some and not others in CS4, but all the correct width in Illustrator 10? This is really frustrating as it would be such a waste of money not to be able to use CS4, and have to go back to Illustrator 10.

Quite often I recieve drawings with loads of hatches/solid fills in. For example a housing layout with all of the houses, trees, roads, grass etc hatched.
I generally want to delete these/turn them off and work with a line drawing.
Sometimes the hatches have been drawn on their own layer, so turning them off is simple. But sometimes they've been drawn on layers with other things I want to keep. Genereally there are loads of hatches, so deleting them one by one is frustratingly slow.
I used to use Microstation, and in that there was a tool to delete hatches or fills, and if you selected all items you could delete the lot in one go. Is there such a tool in AutoCAD?
I'm working on a scrpit for Illustrator which generates cycloidal curves (hypocycloid, epicycloid, rhodonea) and would like to explore my options for creating a blur across the path. The generated images will be saved as a PNG and then used in another program for an optical research application. So far, I have learned that it is not possible to access any of the effects through javascript. I also looked into applying a graphic style (as found in several other posts), however I need to have control over the amount of blur applied.
As an alternative, I've been working with applying a radial gradient across the path (whcih is possible using javascript). This achieves an effect which is 'close enough' however. Here is an image of the result generated using a 'rhodonea' curve:
My issue is: How do I blend the path at the intersections to get something like this (generated with the 'gaussian blur' effect):
I made a sketch attached to a drawing view, in it made a hatch. I closed the sketch and the file.
Opened again, after days, activated the sketch, selected the hatch, it turned red, pressed delete but it didn't disappear. Also on the right click there is no delete option.
When i select the hatch and it turns red, when i press delete or right click it turns green.
It is strange that when the sketch is closed and i select it in the browser i see the other lines of the sketch in red, but not the hatch.
I have a feature line in my drawing. It is one of over 1000 breaklines in a surface. I want to delete it from the surface but keep it in the drawing. How do I do this?
In 2009 this was easy. I could erase the featue line then use the OOPS command to get it back in the drawing. Unlike the UNDO command, OOPS did not put it back in the surface definition. This was a wonderful feature/bug. In 2012 OOPS behaves the same as UNDO.
I found this post regarding finding a breakline in the surface definition but that is not realistic with 1000 breaklines.
Here are a few options I have tried:
Delete all breaklines from the surface and add the ones I want. (This is my best option so far.)Copy the featureline to the clipboard, erase it, then paste it back in. (Copying feature lines to the clipboard, or wblock, is very slow. The feature line should be moved back to the orignal site.)Explode the feature line into a 3D polyline and then convert back into a feature line. (Good option but does not work well for curves.)
