Photoshop :: Fading Layer With Layer Mask?
Feb 21, 2013I'm trying to blend a photo with a background color. I select the new layer mask (selected), I select the gradient tool (color into transparent), and then draw a line to fade the image layer into the background later and it does nothing. Why isn't this working?

Oct 3, 2007I've been using Photoshop intensely this year for school assignments, and I'm learning to get around very well. The issue I'm currently having is that it want to make a layer mask that fades from the mask to the image behind, from color to transparent to create a smooth transition.
I've attached a sample image of what I'm trying to do. Just note, I used a very round-about method to get this image, but I want to achieve the same effect with a vector mask.

he is using it for wallpapers, he wants the wallpapers part of the main image on its own layer, so that it is translucent then when you go over it, it will go to full color (no tranparency). do i have to do this as a gif and make it a rollover or something, do i need to make it a seperate image?

Dec 12, 2012how to fade to transparency by myself I am left with a residue problem when saving to a different file format.
I took my square image and pasted as a layer. Behind this is a raster layer flood filled with black (As the image will be going onto a black t-shirt). I used a rounded rectangle selection tool to make a mask somewhere just inside the image borders. I then applied a Gaussian blur to the mask and it faded the edges of the image beautifully. I checked with the black background layer off and again it faded nicely into transparency.
Now my issue is that when I save it as a PNG file (with background set to transparency of course) and try to use it against various coloured backgrounds there seems to be a white glow around the edges where it is meant to fade out.

Aug 10, 2006I was working in a drawing doing some copying/pasting from marquee selections. Somehow I now have a light blue line stretching horizontally from one side of the screen to the other. It runs out past the canvas of the drawing to the edges of the PS window.
I think it occured while I was switching tools with hotkeys and my computer lagged a little bit. It's like a gridline, but I can't find anyway to delete/turn off/move it. When I make a marquee it seems to snap to it as a boundary.
This line doesn't appear in other drawings, so it's just something that I've done in this particular file.

AutoCAD 2010 :: Excel Spreadsheets Show Up With Gridlines?
Dec 12, 2012I have been having an issue when printing to PDF from AutoCAD my Excel spreadsheets show up with gridlines that are not there in there Excel or CAD. I have tried a number of things to eliminate that lines (see list below) but nothing has worked so far. I am running AutoCAD 2012 and Excel 2003. I have inserted the spreadsheet using "Paste Special" so that I can continue to work on the spreadsheet in excel and it will update in CAD.
- I have changes the Plot Quality. In Monochrome the lines print. Low quality the spreadsheet does not show up. High quality again nothing shows up
- In Excel I have turned off the "Gridlines" and re-copied into AutoCAD. The lines still show up when printing to PDF
- If I paste as an AutoCAD Entity I can not update in Excel

Jul 12, 2012I was wondering how I can set my Elevation Text and Profile Major Gridlines at different intervals? It seems like there stuck to one another.
For example, I want my Major Gridlines at every 1.0m but show elevation at every 5.0m.
I tried 'splitting' the profile view with a hacked up style but it seems to be messing up my pipes. Is there a way I can make a vertical band of some sort?

Paint.NET :: Select Layer By Clicking On Non-transparent Pixel Owned By Layer
Sep 2, 2012Today i opened a psd file which 200 layers. Paint.net is very slow then (as all layers are flatten, pdn is missing hierarchical layers), but that is another problem.
I wanted to hide some background layers and "copy merged" a selection.
It took me 10mn to find all the backgrounds layers without this tool.
In photoshop the tool exist as a property of the "move selection" tool. Ie: you must first select the move selection tool, then select "layer" in the properties toolbar.
Any way to get that for v4 ? Will v4 be on github so we can clone and make patches ?

Mar 24, 2011I would like to make a composite image with source images making up the various layers (so I can work my magic on each layer indepent of the others). The problem I have is that not all of the images I'm using are to the right scale. What I want to do is resize those layers that are too big. Here's an example...
Let's say I have 5 pictures that I want to use to make one composite image from. The main background layer will be made from an image that is, say 800x600.
Another picture (let's call this subject 1) is 600x600 and is already at the right scale if I cut out the portion I want to keep and lay it on top of the background layer.
Yet another picture (subject 2) is huge (think 2000x2000). I would like to cut out the portion I would like to use and drop it in as a new layer and then obviously re-size it down to the correct scale. I'd prefer to do this directly in the composite image I'm making on its own layer to ensure I get the size right (and without manipulating the image guess-work style before I cut/paste it in).And so on...
I've found ways to make the canvas bigger (not what I want to do)... but not anything on how to resize the images on individual layers without impacting the other layers. Is there a way to do this?

Apr 18, 2011OK I am stuck. I have created a new image. Created a new trasnparent layer and deleted the background. I pasted an exising PNG (with transparency) into the layer. All my tools do not work. I can paint onto the exsiting image but when I try to paint over transparent parts of the layer nothing is shown. There must be some simple setting I dont know about right?

Mar 11, 2011I can make just about everything work i'm using v3.36 because i thought my computer would not work well with a newer version i can import a image that i use the eraser on, and save it as a .png that all works fine.
But when i try to add a layer i see the image on top then when i hit f7 i get the vertical line up, but i get two layers in the vertical one has the background the other just has the eraser markings and nothing else, when i try to merge nothing happens. I'm using xp with sp2

I don't have any good examples, but what I'd like to do is have a pic on the left side fade at the halfway point to a pic on the left. I know photoshop does it with colors, but not sure how to do it with pictures of objects.

But even when I click ok and start to paint it's not painting black which is the color I set the brush to paint. It's more like it's erasing but not quite.
