View 5 Repliesi have an office building designed in Revit and i want to put a Fascia around the top- it just will not work for me!the same to the roof- i want a flat roof, so i did a roof by extrusion and it asks me for workplanes etc?then it tells me this:Extrusion roof sketch must be open. The roof's thickness and material composition are defined in its type.

View 7 Replies View RelatedReducing the Roundness of a calligraphic brush to 0% seems to create 'flat' ends to a stroke, but, on closer inspection, the ends are not perfectly flat/straight.
The line seems to start and end with a slight 'S' curve; it's less visible when the stroke has a different bearing, but I need it to be gone - is this possible? I'm trying to create a calligraphic brush with perfectly flat ends.
I want to create a dim style that will suppress the ext line as well as text.
How to I get the text to be suppressed?

I have 105 files that I would like to compress down. I have searched these forums but didn't find any threads related to my inquiry. When I create a script to compress to 96dpi there are weird color/light artifacts in the resulting pics. When I do the "save for office" function the pics get even smaller with no artifacts.
1. what settings does the "save for office" compressor use so that I can recreate thru other means
AND/OR
2. how do i create a batch process script using the "save for office" menu item?
Using Set Sheet Manager, I am trying to create an Office Standard Sheet Index Table.
I have begun by copying the Standard table and modifying it. I have adjusted the cell styles to reflect our colors and text types and sizes. I have also added two additional columns for revision number and revision date.
I have tried saving the new table ... and inserting a new table through the sheet set manager
the only tables i can bring in include the 2 original columns (sheet number and sheet title) and specified text font, size and color are maintained, but the additional columns and the column width are lost.
Ideally i would like the office format to be maintained...with little or no modification required of the user.
I recently upgraded from Autocad 2012 Mechanical. Previously, I was able to simply select objects in AC, ctrl-c them, then paste them into Word. I am now using 2013 Product Design Suite, with the Vault addin for word. I am now unable to do this. What I notice is that when I switch to my Word window and paste, there's some unknown process occurring in Autocad. Furthermore, what should be an image box with my drawing in Word is a blank box.
AutoCAD: 2013 Product Design Suite, using 2013 Mechanical.
Word: 2007, Service Pack 2.
Is there a way to create a "master" numbering style (say, a number in a filled circle) to annotate an image of something else? I know there are technical drawing suites that do this, but was hoping that there was a way in illustrator (or indesign) Attached image shows the result im going for (yes I know I can do this manually, looking for an optimized way of doing it).

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am attempting to create a street art style stencil graphic to put on a t-shirt using Illustrator (note, not an actual stencil for spray painting, just the visual effect of one). I was able to make something similar in photoshop, but pixelation issues lead me to attempt a vector style graphic. The overlying "stencil" image is a complex vector object and the underlying "paint" layer is a series of semi-transparent paint splatter vector groups to get a more textured effect. I am doing it this way because, I have not been able to find any graffiti style brushes that work the same way as those in photoshop. The problem I am having is that when I attempt to make a clipping mask of these objects to be left with just the desired "paint" areas, there is a message about the complexity of this operation, and the result is total disappearance of all the objects, except for their paths. better way to get a vector graffiti stencil effect with texture?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI need to create flat 2d profiles from 3d solids and was wondering what is the best way to do this? I know it can be done by plotting to a DX file but even with the hide lines on I end up with a lot of unwanted lines that need to be cleaned up which can take up too much time.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have been looking all over to try to find a way to create a flat pattern from a 3D model in AutoCAD. I've found several sites saying it can be done on Inventor, but as I do not have Inventor, I would like to know if it is possible to do with AutoCAD, and if so how to do it.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI can't get Inventor to create a flat pattern of the attached sheetmetal part. It's a pretty basic part, just five folds. I'm not getting any error issues - when I go to the flat pattern it just shows the folded part (picture attached).
I assume it has something to do with the way I folded it and the notches, etc. Inv makes to accomplish the fold. I'm using Inventor 2013 on Win 8.
I am trying to create a flat plane that is on a diagonal. In Max I remember you could zero out using the scale tool with local space orientation. How do I do this in Maya?
In the enclosed image see red arrow. The back/bottom edge of the tail is supposed to be flat. How do I get all vertices to be in one plane?
I need a code to generate the Flat Pattern in VBA.
I made an app who sets the specific material and I would like to unfold the folded part at the same time.
I tried this code, but not works:

Dim sheetMetalDef As SheetMetalComponentDefinition
If (Not sheetMetalDef.HasFlatPattern()) Then
sheetMetalDef.Unfold
End If

In previous versions I could create a flat polygon mesh by typing "3D" and have an option to create a planar mesh "M" X "N" by specifying the 4 corners along with M and N. I don't see a way to draw this mesh in 2012 without having to ID every vertices. This procedure is listed in the Legacy portion of Help, but I do not see a way to do it.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a plane that I transform into Edit Poly, only one polygon. I select an edge, click extrude, 1cm height and 0 width. But instead of having 2 polygons, I have 4, the extras two being on the outside edge of the newly extruded polygon. These polygons aren't really visible, but they cause lots and lots of problems! I have a lot of extruding to do and I would love to specify the dimension of the new polygons, that's why I used Extrude instead of simply Shift-dragging.
At the moment, after each extrude, I select all my vertexes and do a weld with a very small threshold, that seems to eliminate those extra polygons, but it's annoying and counter-productive.
I'm using 3ds max 2012 64 bits, service pack 2 and I updated last week.
How can I create a flat belt driven system? The drive system and the flat belt are in the attachments of this message.
What I did until now was to create a part for the belt within the assembly (extrude part). The sketch is depending on the position of the rollers and everything else. Although when I create the belt I can no longer move the system. If I suppress the belt, move the system and unsupress the belt, the belts assumes the new positions.
My purpose would be to be able to still get a variable assembly so I could also make a dynamic simulation of the system.
I recently switched to Inventor 2012 from a previous version. I cannot find the create flat pattern command. Some of my coworkers were able to customize their RMB menu to have this command, but I am not even able to do that! (They don't have the command on the ribbon, either.)
I attached a picture of my sheet metal ribbon...
