Illustrator :: Finding Color Properties - Hex Value
Oct 30, 2013
I have an illustrator file made by someone else. They made swatches for different background colors. I want to get the Hex values for these colors so I can replicate them in a web page. I just can't seem to do it. I'm getting
The layout of the file is essentially a bunch of little boxes (it's a periodic table). I click on the swatch panel and it tells me something like "unamed Swatch 3" but I can't seem to get how to find out exactly what values those colors contain.
I'm using Illustrator CC and am new to Illustrator altogether.
I am writing a program acts on the current drawing by using data in the SSM. If the current drawing is found to be a member of a sheet set (using sysvar SSFOUND) it cycles through all the sheet in the sheet set looking for a sheet entry that matches. Sometimes a match is not found because the layout name in the SSM does not match the layout name in the current tab (sysvar CTAB). Is there a more directly way...and one that works? I just need a reliable way to get the AcSmSheet object the correlates to the current drawing.
Is there a way to select a portion of an image and display the average RGB or Lab values of that area? Right now I can only see the values of selected individual pixels. Instead of manually adding up these values to get the average value which is quite tedious, can someone help me to a better option?

I recently installed Paint.net (love it!) and was messing around with effects and colors when I stumbled upon this one adjustment/edit . That allowed you to select several colors and make a a threshold and other cool effects with only the colors you selected previously. I thought it was really cool, but I didn't save the photo.
I am struggling with the "sAIArtSet->MatchingArtSet()" in restricting it to find the artset from the selected artboard only.
One way is to iterate through the found art set and compare art's artboard index with the index of the selected artboard. Wanted to know if there is some internal SDK suite which does this iteration in a more optimized way ?
I'm wondering how you would construct the altitudes of any triangle,so that you may find its orthocenter.I'm currently constructing three circles to find an altitude, based on this.
So here's what I wrote to try and find and delete all pathItems within a document that lack a fill and lack a stroke.
var doc = app.activeDocument; for (i=0; doc.pathItems.length>i;i++) { alert(doc.pathItems[i].name + " " + doc.pathItems[i].fillColor.name)
[Code]....
But alas, neither seems to do the trick, the first one makes sense why it wouldnt work since it says that the color is "undefined" but it isnt a string called "undefined." So I'm not sure how to go about this at all now.
[URL] I am trying to find the geometric center of a triangle, star and a pentagon so I can align Group Spokes and cut the shapes. What is Illustrators trick?
I do not want the center of the bounding box. I need the center of the shape. I once had this thread bookmarked for later reference but the link no longer exist.
I'm interested in what generalized method you would use to create a circumcircle for any type of triangle; the first thing that comes to mind is: how would you find the circumcenter?
Right now I am constructing two perpendicular bisectors using this method:
• Select the triangle. • Menu) Object → Path → Add Anchor Points • Lock that layer and create a new one. • Draw a line from one of the added anchor points to a corner anchor point. • With the rotate tool: Alt+click on the added anchor point and rotate the line 90 degrees. • Then repeat all of that to make another side's perpendicular bisector.
Is there a way when finding and replacing a text string to style the block of copy. My problem is that I have some color codes given by the customer that now need to be converted to our internal color matches on our production drawings.
The original string of text looks like this: Holder: P1 (Metallic Silver)
What I’m getting when I go to replace this string is: Holder: Natural Satin
What I want is: Holder: Natural Satin
I do not want the replaced text to be italicized. I'm thinking since the original string ends with an italic style that the replacement string is also italicized. There are about 50 pages of drawings with about 10 colors on the job and some pages have them entered in more than one place. So that's a minimum of 500 entries and defititely more considereing the multiple places these are called out. I'd really rather not have to copy and paste all of these by hand. I'm use to FreeHand, which would respect the font styling of pasted text in the find and replace diaglog.
Normally I could use properties to change color's. Now the color "box" stays grey. Also in old drawings where it used to work it does not work anymore.Doc1.jpg
I cannot change the color of any object in any drawing file from the properties manager or color command. I can change the color through the layer manager by assigning a new color to that layer, but cannot override the ByLayer and ByBlock settings with the object properties. The color drop down is simply grayed out. I am using Autocad lt 2006.
Background Hatch Color Properties? When using a background color in a hatch pattern... is it possible to set transparancy and/or screening options when using an *.stb file?
If I were using a *.ctb file it would be obvious, but I'm doing contract work for a client and am using their *.stb file, and I don't have the option of adding another option to their *.stb file.
Using Autocad 2011. If I pick an object, any object, in an old drawing, or newly created drawing, I cannot change it's color in the Quick Properties dialog box. "Color" is grayed out, and not selectable. I can change it via the pulldown in the Layer Manager on my toolbar, but not in the Quick Properties dialog. This just started happening.
I have 4500 OS mapping tiles which i need to convert the colors to one single color rather than the varied layer colors they have at present. Obviously doing this manually will take a long time.
I'm working on a c# console application that extracts properties of a single eps file , output them all in an excel sheet . I'm using illustrator dll in my project , some properties like document width and height can be accessed directly by Document object , others i don't know how to get them , like opacity and image pixels..etc
I am using c# window application framework 3.5 .I am working on the graphics search engine . Now i want to get the .ai (Adobe illustrator)files properties.how to get .ai files properties?
Untill he went to window and clicked css properties in the window tab. His window tab looks different from mine and I dont know how to get the css properties because of this.
I'd like to export certain properties from an ai-document to XML. The XML will be post-processed using XSLT. Secretly, I'm hoping that I can invoke the Reflection-system (as mentioned brifely, I might add) in the ExtendedScript Toolkit CS6 Core JavaScript Classes.
How to get reflection working for JavaScript objects (both built-in and the ones I've created in code my self)? Are there any guides that are relevant in my case? (Try googling "illustrator script reflection" and you get a bunch of flip object scripts ...)
I'm looking for a method to change the status text in an illustrator drawings' titleblock by changing metadata fields linked to fields in a drawing.
At work we are using SolidWorks EPDM for managing workflows in the engineering and design departments. This includes having the program set the file status texts in titleblocks of drawings/reports. The way this works is that the metadata of a file (Custom properties for SolidWorks and Ms Office files) is changed by EPDM. The Next time the file is opened the fields linked to the metadata are automatically shown the new value. Also if the file is in a read-only state (so non-editors still see and print the correct version of the file).
This method does not work for PDF and AI files since we can not access any properties. This means that our illustrators who design labels, etc. need to open these files themselves and change texts. Even if files are at a stage they should not be modified any more.
the properties palette started only showing the current properites for the drawing and not the properties of the entity selected. what causes this i am using autocad civil 3d 2013.
When I select any object, my quick properties tab is blank and my properties tab doesn't register anything. Also, I get an error message when I go into my CUI to try to modify the quick properties tab. Pretty frustrating. I've attached a couple of images for reference. I've repaired, re-installed and unistalled and re-installed and still have the same probelm.
Dell Precision T3500 Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU W3530 @2.8GHz ATI FIrePRo V5800 (FireGL V) 12 GB Ram 64 BIt OS
Somehow the Properties Palette has gotten less wide- such that I can't read teh actual properties. Previously I was able to make it wider just by hovering over it, clicking on an arrow and dragging it wider. Not now.
It's not just the layer that isn't being displayed in the Properties Palette. My 2014 Properties Palette isn't contextual--displays only the general info--none of the object specific information.
