Illustrator :: Cannot Turn On Hyphenation In AI CS6
Aug 14, 2013
I can't turn on hypnenation on Illustrator CS6, read all this [URL] , didn't work. I use English version, but in Russia, so all the texts are Russian. In preferences Russian is selected, but still no changes.
How can I turn hyphenation off for all documents? Is there a way to change the default setting to hyphenation off? I know how to turn it off for individual documents, but I want it to always be off.
I am trying to save a project I'm working on in PDF format with text embedded however when I open the PDF with acrobat all the hyphens which were automatically inserted into my text are changed to the adjacent letter.
I have hyphernation ON, but is not working. I see an strange sign from the original text, maybe is a non breaking word character imported from the original text in Word Office.
Here is the picture

By the way, here is a close up of this new symbol (i haven't seen it before)

Is there any GREP command that will remove all forced non breaking text signs at once?
I included the user dictionary into my InDesign document. And I set the settings to break the hyphenation only after 3 letters, but InDesign is breaking the words even after 1 letter as per my user dictionary. whether InDesign will not consider my own settings for user dictionary terms?
When can I expect hyphenation and spell checking for selectable language sin Xara Designer 6 Pro? I am doing a lot of Flyers and some text based graphics with Xara and this is the one feature I am still missing. If it's getting to complicated I switch to Corel Ventura Publisher which has not been maintained since ages, but is still a good piece of software. By teh way: Why does Xara/Magix not simply buy Ventura from Corel an include into their packages.
Recently upgraded to CC. Now when I open InDesign files, I get warning message:
"Hyphenation breaks may change if you edit the text in the document. The following hyphenation services are not installed on this system - Proximity (English: USA)"
I have a large line of text (110 characters) with no spaces in it that I'm trying to fill into a 4"x6" area, with the text wrapping / font size scaling as needed.
The problem is that Corel is breaking up the text at a hyphen leaving a lot of empty white space at the end of the line after the hyphen.
If I remove this one particular hyphen (there are many), then no problem. I've already checked for hidden (newline) characters.
The "Use Hyphenation" option is unchecked and there is no formatting going on other than the size of the text box itself.
When I draw what I want to be a solid line it comes out as dashes and I cannot figure out how to turn off the dashes. This happens whether I use the strait line tool or the arc tool.?? I am on a Mac with 6
I'm very new to illustrator and have been trying to turn a logo (png file) into a vector. The logo is white lettering with a transparent background and I cannot get the logo to show up properly so that I can work with it. When I try to open the logo in AI it shows up behind the artboard - and if I try to click on "image trace" the logo gets covered by the white box and I can't see anything.
Ok so I used Image Trace on a .jpeg logo. The logo is black rectangle with white text in it. My problem is that when I traced it, the black space became the object and the letters are negative space. Is there a way to turn the letters into objects?
I'm working on a design in Illustrator CS5 which has textures and drop-shadows applied to most of the objects. I want to make some changes to the colors, but it re-renders the effects each time I change things. Is there some way to globally disable effects and just display strokes, fills and gradients? I know about outline mode, but that's useless for editing colors. Surely I don't have to go through every object and disable the effects one by one and then turn them all back on later?
I accidently did something here. I got this middle panel in illustrator and I can't get rid of it. It seems I can only click on tools or unclick tools but I can't get rid of the Glyphs, Flash Text, Stroke, Gradient, etc. I don't want this middle panel showing. It takes up too much screen space. How do I get rid of it?
I got a PDF today that (besides being just a complete and terrible mess) has a basic vector shape in a clipping mask that won't let me turn off the overprinting.
When I select the whole object with clipping mask, the Overprint Fill box (in the attributes panel) has a hypen. When I click into the clipping mask or go to Object > Clipping Mask > Edit Contents and I select just the vector shape, the Overprint Fill box has a check in it, and I uncheck it. Then when I exit out and reselect the whole object I get the hypen again. I can also uncheck the hypen and the box is blank, but then when I deselect and select it again I get that evil hypen again.
way to turn off overprinting for a single object in Acrobat Pro my mind will figuratively explode.
Using Illustrator I've developed an alphabet of letters that I'd like to turn into a font (otf file). I'm wondering is it possible to accomplish this with Illustrator or any of the other software in the Adobe Creative Suite? take these Illustrator SVG files, and make them into an Otf?
Is there away to turn off "Snap to Grid"? You find it under View - Perspective Grid - Snap to Grid. I can turn it off by clicking on it to turn off but it won't stay turned off. I tired to go into my preferences to see if you can keep it off in your setting but I do not see it. A lot of discussion boards talk about in the Transform window "Align new objects to pixel grid" and that is turned off.
I need to create a line drawing of the outline of a chair. I tried following the various Illustrator tutorials to take the image of a chair and create a silhouette. However, I can't figure out how to take this silhouette and get just the outline of it. The Illustrator Image Trace tool doesn't seem to have an option to just save the outline.
Is there an easy way in Illustrator or Photoshop to turn this silhouette into an outline image that I can save as a file? I will print the outline in a very light opacity so that the lines are barely visible for hand rendering. I don't want to use the pen tool to outline the silhouette because my hand is too shaky to do a good job.
I'm designing a badge for my cricket team and have created a design using a shield shape which I've divided into four quarters with a horizontal and a vertical line. How do I split the shape so I can colour the individual quarters? There are similar areas of the design made up of lines that I want to colour individually. I guess the question is, if I created a square shape by drawing four separate lines, how do I join the lines in order to fill the square shape with colour?
I cannot turn on a circle or other shape in Illustrator CS. I can select the tool box and draw a rectangle and there is no additional choices for shapes.
or is there a way of locking the angle of the bezier handles, when adjusting curves with direct selection tool?
Before the recent update, you could use the direct selection tool to select a curved path between two anchor points, and drag in either direction to tighten or relax the curve with the handles sticking to their current angles, the handles would just extend or shorten depending on the direction you dragged the path. It would only effect the curve selected, and would not effect the handles on the other side of the anchor point.
Since the update when using the direct selection tool to adjust curves the handles rotate, and can also effect the handle on the other side of the anchor point, if the handles/anchor point is set to smooth. Or if the handle/anchor point is set to be a corner it can create or leave sharp corners.
i have a line art drawing and have expanded the strokes to paths. now i'd need to turn part of the paths back to strokes and can't find an (easy) way to do it.
inserted is an example of the situation. instead of closed path i'd like the form to be a stroke.
