View 1 RepliesI´ve made a collage with a lot of pictures with a page size of 120 x 80 cm.
I wanted to print a poster of the same size in snapfish, and they accept only JPG files. So I exported the collage to JPG with the best Quality I got.
The poster was printed, but the quality is poor. How can I export it in order to get good results?
I printed the poster the same size in my HP Printer (5 years old) with lot of A4 pages and the resolution of each page was much higher.
Printing the poster is expensive, that is why I really would like to reach the same quality with a JPG file.
I need to make a poster in A1 size and I would like to know whether it is feasible to do so with GIMP, because I've seen the list of templates when making a new file and the size goes only up to A3 format.
I realize I can do the designing in A3 format and just print the A1 sheet, but I don't know if this will yield good results when considering the resolution and such.
how to create this mottled texture used in the poster below? Looks like a noise filter of some kind. Would I be better using Photoshop or Illustrator for this? I am using the texture in the context of a book, repeating the texture on certain pages.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a large project (shirt block pattern) that I need to print as a poster, I'm wondering if there's any way to add a border around each tile when printing, since I can't print to the edges of the paper it would save me having to draw in each border before cutting (to ensure I don't cut the edge crookedly).
View 3 Replies View RelatedI was wondering if I need to "trap" all 3 layers of color in this design which will be screen-printed as a 16x20 sized poster. In some parts of the design, I purposely made the colors a bit offset. But the printer says I must use trapping. I watched a bunch of video tutorials, but none of them seem applicable to this particular kind of artwork, in which I WANT some of the background/paper to show through. But not everywhere. I work in Illustrator CS6.

correct way to make a circular outline on a circle object, that has some white space in between? Did it a bootleg way, but am afraid the spacing won't be exact..
View 3 Replies View RelatedI want to add some textures to the backgrounds of some artwork and make them fade out over the distance of a shape.
1. First, are patterns that ship with AI considered textures? Like the one I'm using in the attached example?
2. How can I take any pattern/texture and make it fade out over part of the image like in the example image? I did this in Fireworks using the Auto vector tool but I want to be able to do it in AI.
I want to make a tab in a radiotext and it does not work when i just add a tab.
I can add a space and other characters using unicode but i cant make it work with the tab character!
staticText = Grp1.add("statictext",undefined,"What? "); // Does not work
staticText2 = Grp1.add("statictext",undefined,"What?u00A0"); // Works but this is a space character
staticText3 = Grp1.add("statictext",undefined,"What?u0009"); // Does not work with Tab character

View 2 Replies View RelatedRelatively new to Ai and have some questions about how best to make a document template. Basically, I'd like to make it so that new artboards can be automatically populated with things like company logo, footer text, etc. and in the correct locations on the page. Is there an easy way to do this? I made my master document into a template file (.ait) but, if I want to make a multi-page document, I have to manually go through and copy layers over to new artboards and it tends to make things messy. Do layer templates work with this? Haven't been able to pinpoint exactly how those work either.I'm using CS6
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm having an issue with the save feature in Illustrator CS5.5 (15.1.0 for mac). Typically when making changes to design files, we will save the Illustrator file first, then save as a PDF proof to send to the client. Our issue is that the file appears to save correctly, but when opening the Illustrator document a few days later, we find that only SOME of the changes were saved. Now keep in mind that I've only saved the document once, why would only a few changes save from one single save point?
On top of this, our PDFs come out without any problems, and all changes save just fine.
This is a major issue for us, as we need to be able to trust that ALL previous changes save, as we use the Illustrator document to create subsequent versions. We don't have the time to check through every minute detail to make sure that the file saved properly. This should be a very basic function of the program, yet it is creating big time headaches for us.
Could it be that we are saving as PDF first, then as AI? Would that somehow affect the ability of Illustrator to save properly?
I'm working on a poster for a production of Julius Caesar and I'm trying to create a propaganda poster very similar to the one below. Any ideas on how to turn a regular photograph into a style similar to the one of Lenin? I'll try and post the picture I'm working with as well as the example poster. I've tried posterizing and blurring and colorizing but I can't quite get the yellowy tint as well as the kind of dotted shadows seen in the picture.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI was wondering whether one could proceed as follow. Say, you want to make a vector mask of a given image, part of a photograph. One could of course use the built-in vector features of Photoshop (pen tool, vector shapes tool) to create the vector outlines used for the mask. But, it is possible to export the image in Illustrator, use all of the Illustrator vector tools to create the vector outline, and then import those vector outlines back into Photoshop, at the *exact* same place as they were in Illustrator (relative to the image being traced/masked).
I know how to go back and forth between Illustrator and Photoshop, but I don't know how to ensure that the vector paths (from Illustrator) and image (from Photoshop) keep their relative positions between the programs.
I'm used to photoshop and understand illustrator works on different principals, but I can't get a white to clear gradient or a gradient that has white on either end, or a graident in color..I've tried making a new gradient swatch like in InDesign and have tried loading various default graidents but can't get what I wNt I want to do this:
View 34 Replies View RelatedAs seen in the attached image, I want the red arc shape to cut out from the green logo it is sitting on top of, while also having the red arc dissappear and reveal the transparent bg. I have tried a bunch of different ways that I have read from these forums but none of them seem to work. Obviously I'm missing something. The green shield logo is made of multiple objects. The closest I got was the arc shape cut out from some of the objects of the green logo, but not all of them, and the arc shape didn't cut out as an arc, but rather as the original rectangle. The arc is created with a regular rectangle with arc effect.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am trying to convert a CMYK logo, which I didn't design, into pantone colors for film output (for negatives to make plates for a printing press), but there are many colors and gradients in the original file. I don't know much about offset printing, as I usually use a digital press, but I need to know how to best preserve the look of the original file. I can break down into 4 colors, but I lose the gradient effect... Is there a way to preserve that effect in a film negative? (I'm working in Illustrator CS6 on Mac OS X 10.6.8)
(The image to the left is the original logo... To the right, is the 2 color (Pantone) separation image, which will work for film output, but looks significantly different than the original. I don't know much about the offset press on which these logos will be printed, but I've been told it's a maximum of 4 colors per printed image. I know the press operator can mix any pantone color, but I think the film can only be separated into a maximum of 4 different colors....
I am a hardcore Photoshop nut lol but I have recently approached learning how to use 'AI' to create my company Logo so that It can be Vector based and therefore Re-size it according to web and print as needed.
You've properly encountered this problem lots of times and i'm properly being really silly, but I am having major problems re-sizing and it, causing pixelisation on my Image, esp when going to 'Save for web and Devices'.
I did have 'drop down shadow effects' on the Logo but I believe I have deleted all of that in Appearences, Incase it is the raster effects causing the problems... but even back at its seemingly basics, I'm still having the same problems.
I tried making the Image smaller using the 'scale' & 'transform' tool before taking it into 'Save for Web and Devices' and even on my artboard it now looks pixelated..
My Artboard size is 1200 x 1200 and in 'Save for Web and Devices' it says the Original Image size is 800 x 600 (which I believe is the size of the document I chose when starting my project)...
I tried Playing with the PPI in the 'Document Raster Effects' settings, this doesn't seem to be making a difference.. Infact I'm sure playing with all the settings has almost caused my edges already to not be as sharp in view: 100% (RGB/Overprint preview) as they once were and I don't think I have the original document to go back too, due to thinking the Logo was fine, before relizing I had a problem in resizing & saving.
I have tried all of the save options in 'Save for Web and Devices' but still the Image looks pixelized, even when ignoring previewer and going ahead to re-opening the saved Image.
I've spent hours trawling the web tirelessly without any result and after being so happy with the Logo, it would be such a shame to have to delete it and try and start all over again either in Illustrator or back in Photoshop (where I know the quality won't be as good)..
Is there a fast and simple way to make a straight path curved? I'm a FreeHand convert, and with it you could hold down the option key, click and drag the straight path (line) into a curve and control it fairly well.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI'm working on a vector map and I'd like to be able to take a section of it and blow it up to the corner in typical map manner. I was able to accomplish what I was trying to do in Photoshop: [URL] but 1. it's pretty obvious where the non-vectored parts are, and 2. I'd like to keep the workflow for these as simple as possible (i.e. in a single program). I got part of the way there with the Crop pathfinder tool, but it only includes shapes and not paths in the cropped selection (so no roads or rivers).

I am using the pen tool to make 4 triangles with different shades of grey. I then group the triangles, put a radial blur on them and place them under the gear that I created. I select them all and do the clipping mask command, but instead of it being a gear with that radial shine, the whole thing disappears except for the outline of the triangle.
