Illustrator :: CC - Selecting Slices In Save For Web

I tried to use the export function "save for web" in Illustrator CC 17.1.0 for the first time in many weeks.
I created a document with some slices. Strangely, in the dialogue of "save for web", the image preview isn't shown in the original size although the setting is set to 100%. It seems, like the preview is only about 50% of the original image size.
Furthermore, it is impossible to select the specific slices for renaming it. Also setting up the preview to 200% doesnt solve the problem.
I already uninstalled illustrator with the uninstall file and downloaded the software from the cloud again. But the problem still exists. I also created a complete new document without success...
I'm using Mac OS 10.9.1.

Why doesn't this mature software have robust save to web features? The save to web component should be shared between Photoshop and Illustrator.

Since the Save images as SVG has been removed from Save For Web in CS6, is there a way to save slices as SVG images in illustrator CS6?
I tried the Save As menu but it only allows me to save the whole artwork instead of slices.

I have slices in my document. On one slice, I have added some information under the Slice Options, such as a URL and an alt tag. When I choose Save Selected Slices, I get a drop-down menu in my Save dialog called File Format. The only choice in this drop-down is "Images Only." Same thing happens if I try to save the selected slice via the Save for Web dialog. Didn't you used to be able to choose to save the HTML as well? Or, is there ever another choice in this drop-down?

question regarding selecting multple parts of an image.
I have a landscape picture that I want to divide up into 5 parts.
I have managed to achieve the effect by using Image Ready and creating 5 seperate slices, then selecting these 5 slices, converting them to a selection, the cutting and pasting the selection to a new file. The trouble with doing this is that I have to create the slices every time for a new picture, and as I will be doing this type of work a lot, I would like to be able to call up the same selection or mask every time I work on a similar picture.
Is there a way I can save the selection mask, or slices, then recall them and apply it to the picture.

I have to save the smart guides and the slices created with those smart guides.
Is there a easy way to do this independed ( in a separate file ) from my curent design?
I need those for some comming works.
The only thing I comeup with is save a copy of the current design, clear the layers and use it as a template.
But then I lose some flexability if I had to change a smart guide and want to update existing designs.

I used to be able to open a drawing then close it right away, if it was not the drawing I was looking for, as long as I didn't pan, zoom, or do anything else. Almost a year ago I had a pop-up with-in AutoCAD that they reccommend I make this selection. I can't remember what it said really, it was something about a script or lisp loading at each drawing opening. Well, the result is the 'Drawing 1' does not disappear when I open another drawing and I would like that to stop. Also as I said it does it to every drawing. how to stop this? I tried the 'startup' command and that is not it. It is not a big thing just something I think is a waste of my time having to close that drawing each time I open AutoCAD. Not sure it matters but I am using AutoCAD 2012

I have a page of web art that I have sliced up. One section is a series of buttons. I have the different button states on different layers and I have created slices for each button and then duplicated the slices onto each layer so that every button state has a slice.
But...since the slices associated with a layer don't hide when you hide the layer, it's almost impossible to get at the underlying slices to name them and/or select them for output.

is it possible to have overlapping slices? For example, I typically start a web design in illustrator, then like export pieces to use in in my build. But, I tend to have a lot of overlaping pieces that need to be exported (full static background image for the webpage and banner overlap for example). I find myself, hiding pieces, drawing out a slice, export it, then go back, delete that slice, create another slice . . . as you can see, it gets pretty tedious. Everytime I try to overlap a slices, they just create new slices and I end up with a bunch of rectangle slices all over the artboard.

I just learned that it's not possible anymore to export slices to swf or svg via the save for web dialog: [URL] .....
Apart from the fact that I believe that this is a pretty strange decision to remove an existing feature… Any workaround for that (apart from installing cs5.5...)?
I need to somehow be able to export my slices to swf. As far as I know, the only option to export slices is via the save for web dialog, but this dialog only offers pixel graphic formats, so now way to use fireworks or what ever to convert them to vector swfs…

Illustrator CS4, latest updates.MORE than often, slices on my design can't be selected.I tried everything, from sending all others to the background or deleting them, resaving them, cute-paste, moving them to another layer, hide-show, lock-unlock…
You can see them on wireframe view, but they won't preview, nor are selectable other than drawing a square over them with the slice select tool, but after you have them selected, you can't move them with the pointer, since they get de-selected.
While the are selected with the above technique, just nudge them and move them back to its place. e.g. click the "up" arrow once and them "down" once while the slices are selected and the slice-select tool is active.

I have a logo for an organization I volunteer for that I guess was originally made in such a way that it consists of a large number of "slices" on top of each other. I don't mean slices in the same meaning as the tool in Illustrator, but rather separate, horizontal objects on top of one another that together form the logo. They are not overlapping but have common anchor points.

How do I merge these slices into one object? I'd like to clean up the logo and the paths are quite hard to modify as it is

We have roughly 4500 eps files that were created in freehand years ago. The files contain both raster images that were embedded as well filled vector paths which were created in freehand. The embedded raster image opens flawlessly as wells as some of the filled paths. I say "some of the filled paths" because there are other filled vector paths that were created using the freehand auto-trace function (similar to AI's live trace)- these filled paths open incorrectly. They open with unusual lines that perforate the entire filled object- a strange slicing effect that appears to happen only to the filled paths that underwent freehand's auto-trace function. The other art appears to be fine.
Is there a method to correct this problem in AI? I'm using A mac os 10.6.8 cs5, When I open the eps in photoshop I don't see any slicing- but photoshop also converts it to a raster image and I would like to preserve the paths. When I open the image again in freehand it opens fine.

I just had a question about the slice tool. Is there anyway I can save slices I make to one .psd file so they can be applied to another .psd file?
For example with these two layouts (2 images):
If I could apply some certain slices to the first one, it would be nice to automatically be able to apply them to the second.

We have a Visual Basic Script that creates pie charts using Adobe Illustrator along with an internally created app called Chart Generator. An xml file that contains a markup for a set of pie charts is imported into Chart generator and by using Illustrator it generates all of the pie charts and saves them as individual eps files.
It was recently discovered that not all of the pie slices are proportioning correctly. In some cases a slice that is 10% of the pie appears larger than a slice that is 13% of the pie. We can’t determine a pattern that might be causing this issue. We think that the problem is in the Visual Basic coding.

I am making some iLogic automated parts which I want to save when I place them in an assembly.
Now I have the folder the file needs to be saved in allready specified in the simple code I wrote but I want to be able to browse the folders to select a specific one.
I run the code by activating it in a Form that pops up when you place the part in an assembly.
The simple save as code I wrote is as following:

In several instances I can't highlight text to copy or to edit, other times it works fine. If I click the radio button for the text in layers (other layers may be locked to prevent accidental selection), the baselines appears and I should be able to highlight the text, but I can't. If I highlight some other unaffected area of text successfully (unlocked layers), sometimes it will allow me to select the problem text directly after.

I need to change the red into white and the white into red. How do I do this? I've opened up in illustrator and can't seem to select on specific part. When I try to sellect, it selects everything
The client has asked me to do the work - since the original graphics designer wants to charge a fortune for the changes.

I am running Illustrator CS5 on a brand new quad-core MacBook Pro. When I'm working in an Illustrator file, every time I click on a different object the program freezes for a good 5 seconds (which adds up really quickly and is really annoying.) I first noticed this in a large illustrator file with a lot of different elements, but I was testing it out and it still happens when I have a new document with only two circles in it. One of the circles is selected and I click on the other circle and the program freezes.

I work in the screenprinting field, and use Illustrator CS6 all day, every day to create layouts which are then separated into spot color separations. I found a script that I installed that is supposed to select all overprinted objects. When we blend objects using the "make blend" tool, the script does not select the objects in the blend. will allow us to TRULY select ALL overprints in the document?

On Ai CS3, while working with clipping masks I've been used to select masked objects with the direct selection tool, even the ones that fall outside the mask boundary.I can't do so with the CC version of Ai. Instead I have first to select it with the lasso tool. One can do so as well with the layers or else by selecting edit contents in the control box.So it's actually possible, but since I edit masked objects quite often those extra-steps are just annoying.
Would be in the preferences or else some option to fix it? Or do I have to make do with some bias..

I have created some shapes within a circle and have used Pathfinder to divide the shapes up and have then deleted some.
With the remaining shapes, I want to change the location of some of the adjacent shape boundaries.
I can do this by dragging across some anchor points with the direct selection tool and can then select the anchor point (for both shape boundaries) to move both lines/boundaries together.
HOWEVER, if I want to change the angle of the boundaries by selecting the handles, it seems I can only select the top anchor moving one of the boundaries and not the other thereby separating the lines?
How I can select multiple handles (that should be on top of each other)?

What is the correct technique for selecting paths with multiple strokes of the same colours?
Select Same doesn’t seem to work properly since it only selects one of the stroke colours.
I have several paths with the same stroke colour makeup yet they don’t behave as if they have the same appearance, depending on which of a path’s several strokes is selected in the Appearance panel.

I am having a problem with a delay in selecting an object and selecting a command.
When I select an object the pointer has at least a 3 second delay before it starts moving around normally again. It is the same with selecting a command. This has started to get tedious. It has worked fine in the past so I don't think it is a RAM/graphics card problem.

I have received permission to use the attached logo (1st image) on a business card for a project.
I want to place it on a blue background, so I've copied the type in Illustrator switched the colors so everything can be read against blue and worked well. However, I can't seem to get whatever file type I place of the shield in Illustrator (tiff, jpg, gif) to not have white pixels around it. You'll see what I mean in the attached 2nd image.
I made a selection of the shield and then did a layer mask of the rest of the logo. There are some extra pixels but some are so small that I don't think I can get them all. I've tried placing the logo in InDesign too and there is the same issue.

I thought that when you had the magic wand selected and you clicked on a fill, it selected all items that were that color, right? I thought I've been doing that for several years now. However, now, clicking the fill does nothing. Clicking the stroke selects things, but clicking the fill doesn't.
Either something got changed in my settings with the latest update, or something is broken in the update.
Using a Mac, running CC, latest update as of this posting.

Any way of selecting an individual bezier handle and moving it by increments using the arrow buttons on the keyboard, (in a similar way to moving an individual point)? At the moment, I have two handles on different adjacent points selected, and am able to move them incrementally using the direct selection tool and the arrow keys, but I don't know how they originally came to be selected (I discovered that they were accidentally), or how to transfer the selection to another handle. I'm using CS6.

I have the following Adobe Illustrator file: [URL] .....
I would like to copy all visible elements of this file, and paste them onto a new file whose size is that of a standard business card. To do this I create the business card AI file in illustrator and then paste the contents of the AI file listed above onto the file with the business card artboard. SINCE THE ARTBOARD IS MUCH SMALLER, I Select -> All and Resize to 2%.
A. What I don't understand is why the bordeaux square in the middle does not resize proportionally when I carry out this operation. Instead it completely shrinks to a much smaller size.
B. Furthermore, I would like to completely get rid of the orange area that falls outside of the artboard. How can I accomplish this second task?
