I am trying to rotate the direction on the text on this my banner...
to make it read vertically instead of horizontally without losing formatting.

I have created a linetype with the text GAS OPTION in it. The line is continuous with a break around the text. In a straight line the linetype works fine (breaks around the text etc). However, when I use a polyline and spline the line for a curved line the text aligns with the direction of the line at the start, but when the line bends, the text suddenly changes direction and reads in the opposite direction. It looks like AutoCAD is trying to keep the text upright rather than following the direction of the line. When the text changes direction it also changes its insertion point and overlaps the continuous part of the line. I have 2013 AutoCAD.
Here is the string I used for the linetype.

I can't rotate a text box in my XCF file. When I create a new XCF file, I can easily create and rotate a text box.

I need to rotate a snipped of text approximately 23% forward from horizontal.
I'm using 2.6.11. this is what I'm doing:
Open a new file. Select the text tool and type in text (I've tried this both on a new layer and on the background layer). Click on the rotate tool and click on the text.
Inevitably, the gunsight appears in the center of the whole page, though the textbox is selected, and when I rotate it the text stays stationary and the rest of the page rotates.
I have a box with a logo on it. I need it to float in the middle of the screen and slowly rotate in random directions on a continuous loop. I'm not good at scripting, but I know there must be an easy way to do this.

View 6 Replies View Relatedi am trying to do this in gIMP. The closest i can get is checking angle/direction in the dynamic editor but it doesn't quite look right at all. Almost, but no. It is almost like the lines are lagging or slow to pick up on my mouses direction? If that makes any sense. i want it to look exactly like that video or if you don't want to watch it, a treasure map effect.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI created a Corel Draw template (*.cdt). Everything was working well until, for some unknown reason, the text direction for Artistic Text and Paragraph Text (and all Bullet styles) switched to right-to-left. I do not recall doing anything to cause this.
Also, the only place that I can find the text direction option is in the Text > Options > Guidelines > Styles > Edit button for fonts > Paragraph Tab (in Format Text dialog box). The text direction shows Right-to-Left and it is grayed out - not available!
My system is Hebrew enabled and Hebrew is a right-to-left language. However, I do not use and have never used Hebrew in any form in CorelDraw.
Also, there is no information at all in the User's Guide or on-line help.The words "direction" and "text" do not appear together.
2 questions:
The important one - How can I access the text direction property?
The less important one - What could I have inadvertently done to change the text direction from L-2-R to R-2-L?
The characters of a word in Hebrew need to reverse their text direction despite the font being Adobe Hebrew which you would expect to be in the correct direction. However this text was copied in from Word.
I can't locate the menu option, e.g. Window>Type>Paragraph fails to show any RTL option. That the text is selected seems indicated by the bar at the top of the screen showing point size etc.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have used annotative text and selected yes for match orientation to layout for the text. In the viewport it is rotating automatically with the view, however the boxes around the text do not rotate as well. Is there anyway to automate this?
The Client requires a key plan which has all the pipe data on it. The key plan is oriented in one direction. Then for the plan & profile drawings, the plan is oriented in another direction. I don't want to have two create two sets of text (one for the key plan and one for the plan/profile drawing). How can I use one set of text and make it work in the key plan and for all the plan/profile drawings? Image is attached.

I would like the cross and the text N to rotate independantly of the arrow while the N stays with the thick line. That's the easy part. How can I make the N move along the rotation path and keep the text aligned horizontally? I read something about linked action and move, but I can't make it work.
On a windows 7 machine I am having issues with Photoshop CS6 13.0.1 x64 Extended writing in the wrong direction, its goinf RTL instead of LTR. And the Text direction button that is suppsed to be in the Paragraphs palette is missing. I deleted preferences twice and that didnt change anything. I switched back and forth between Midles Eastern and East Asian, and that did nothing as well.
I look at my laptop MBP (MAC OS X 10.6), which has PS CS6 Extended 13.0.5 x64, and I dont have the problem with it being locked in RTL, however, my laptop doesnt have the text direction button either, and doing the previous methods did not give me that option. Is there something special I have to download in order to get it or something?
Just so you know I hav read this thread, and tried all of the Methods and NONE of them worked for EITHER Operating System.Also here is a Video for Windows 7 and a video for MAC OS X and the do opposite methods switching to either to East Asian or Middle East(both videos do the oppposite).

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am typing in Farsi which is a right-to-left language. What I see in the monitor is correct. Words appear from right-to-left. But when I print, Entire sentence appears from left-to-right.
This happens even if I print to PDF file. So it is not a problem with printer.
With all the interface options, I'm having trouble finding one I think was available in previous versions: rotating the canvas.
Is it in the menu somewhere? Is there a shortcut?
I'm already very impressed (and somewhat overwhelmed) by all the features I've seen so far in Gimp.
When I have a photo that has come out portrait rather than landscape which is a normal case the rotate function seems to cut off some of the two sides of the photo. If I want to rotate it what I call correctly I use Gnome Image Viewer.
Why can't I rotate images similarly with Gimp?
I download a few new brushes but i cant rotate them. they stay the way i downloaded them... is there a way i can rotate them... double click the brush i wanted and brush editor pops up but says "READ ONLY"... i do see an angle position but its not movable so cant rotate it.
View 5 Replies View RelatedIs there any way to just rotate a rectangular image? I have often scanned in something that's not square, it's often a brochure that's taller than it is wide. But when I scanned it, I had turn it sideways to get the whole thing visible to the scanner. So it scans completely, but now I have an image of it that's not "up is up"-- I have "up is right" or "up is left." But now I have to do all this junkbutter: 1) Look at the canvas size, 2) make the width & height equal to the larger of the two, 3) use the Rotate tool to turn the image 90 degrees, then 4) do some magic to move the image to start at the upper-left, and 5) crop it back down to get rid of the blank space on the bottom. YUCKY! Is there some magic tool I haven't found yet that will rotate, move and crop all in one step? I just want to turn the entire image on it's side without any other fuss. Is that possible somehow? I have to assume it is, but I sure couldn't find it...
View 3 Replies View RelatedI can find image rotate easily enough. But I can't find any way I can rotate it a few degrees. I frequently scan stuff in and it frequently needs 1 degree or such to straighten it up. I used to do that with Paint Shop Pro. Surely Gimp has the same functionality?

So, an overview of what I'm trying to do: create a simple clock face (black) with 12 solid white rectangles at the hour marks.
I have a single layer, (black background, white foreground colours), I select a circle, invert the selection and bucket fill.
Then I select a rectangle, fill it, rotate the layer (which cuts out the rectangle, creates a floating selection with it, and rotates that) anchor the flt-sel (and then repeat 12 times).

This kinda works, but doesn't feel like the optimal way to do it . What I was expecting to do is something like copying the selection, 12 x (rotate and add), bucket-fill.
When Rotating or Resizing an image I have recently run into an issue. This is new behavior so I think I either have something set incorrectly, or it came in with a recent re-install.
When Rotating or Resizing, and setting Clipping to Adjust, it always Crops the image.
In other words: If I were to attempt to stretch an image bigger than 1000x1000 to say 1500x1500 it appears to do all the correct calculations, and does stretch the image, but anything outside the original 1000x1000 disappears.
Likewise if I were to attempt to rotate an image that were say, 1000x1500, 90°, I would end up with a rotated image 1000x1000 in size, and transparent/background for the balance of the original 1000x1500 sized image.
I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling (it remembered all my settings, so I don't know how much good this might have done), setting the Clipping option to Clip, then Crop and back to Adjust again (also with no result).
