View 3 Replies View RelatedI create web galleries using LR 4 and often I am including images from several photographers. I should like to be able to create a copyright watermark which incorporates the photographer's name by setting it to something like Copyright <creator>Â
Â
Is there a way to achieve this other than setting the copyright on import for each photographer's set?
I use a NextEngine 3d laser scanner to create organic models. The process is relatively simple assuming you just buy the software that NextEngine supplies (for $995). For this price you get an "auto surfacing" feature and export to STEP or IGES. Â For me it is hard to rationalize spending that money just for those features, although, auto surfacing makes the process very simple to get a solid into Inventor.Â
Since I already have Inventor 11 and AutoCad Mechanical 2011, I am hoping there is a way to get the scanned data into Inventor as a solid to edit parts etc, without spending the $995. Â If I do spend the money, I would like more functionality from the software. Â I am also looking into Rhino 4 as a possible solution with more functionality for a similar price. I have all the open source programs like meshlab, and blender and they work somewhat.Â
The Nextengine creates a Point Cloud which can be exported as an .obj or an .STL (which comes in handy for 3d Printing). Â I use a 3rd party program to import .stl files into inventor. Â They are imported as a mesh and the "Stitch" command does not work unless you have surfaces (as far as i know). How can I create a surface from a mesh with my existing software? Â
GOAL: create a surface from mesh data (obj or stl), convert to solid, and edit in Inventor.Â
Is there a way to incorporate the functionality of acad mechanical whereby you can specify the length of text but have it fit within a specific area?
So far I haven't been able to figure out how to get a description to work well with my title block. If I use the fit option, all of the text is stretched, which I don't want. I want it to be normal until it doesn't fit anymore into the predefined area and then have it fit.
My CreateSpace pdf in both the Proofer online and the hard copy I just received have great color variance from what I submitted in my pdf cover and interior files. The vibrancy's gone. The bright spring green is dull. The light bluegreens more like gray.
SO, next to learn: I need to know the easiest way to convert my RGB to CMYK files, so I can replace what I've got in my CreateSpace book project interior and exterior spots. I would like to do this in the pdf state, from RGB pdf to CMYK pdf. I am happy to do page by page. The 44-page book has text, plus color images (from original watercolor paintings), with some black ink drawings as well. I work on a MacBook 10.6.8. I assembled the pdfs (page by page as "images") in GIMP 2.8. The original text I formatted in iStudio, easily uploading into GIMP, as images, then working each image in layers. Unfortunately, I didn't realize that flattened images can't be unflattened, so if I need to go back to a pre-pdf pages ('images' in GIMP lingo), I'll have to do quite a bit of reconstructing. The last layered building steps are now bound within the flattened images in 44-page pdf. Fortunately, I can easily alter one page at a time within my full pdf. I want to find an RGB to CMYK conversion that I can do page by page, popping out and back into my full pdf.
It is my understanding that GIMP doesn't work with that standard, however when I convert something from sRGB into CMYK in another program and save it as a tiff file it appears that I am still able to open that file in GIMP, which then displays it as an sRGB.
Does GIMP 2.8 actually do that or am I not performing the CMYK conversion right?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am saving my images (assembled in GIMP), exporting as jpgs then converting to pdf pages. My end product needs to be one pdf, so I will be inserting these separate pages into one 44-page pdf.
I need to retain the 300 resolution (actually, somewhere the resolution has slipped to 299.98 which I'm hoping will be so near it'll look fine). (using MacBook OS 10.6.8 with the GIMP 2.8 version)I think for the ebook, the RGB of my GIMP images will be best. So, I've got that, or will have as soon as I do all the export/saving.
(as an alternative, for the paper printed version which will precede the ebook), how do I save the RGB images to CMYK which I understand will print more true to what I'm seeing on my actual paintings > images in GIMP on my computer screen (the two of which look the same at present)? And at what point in these steps is it best to do the new CMYK version?
I am trying to create a table that will incorporate info from structures and pipes. In C3d 2010 I want to make a CB chart which will show the pipe size, starting structure and invert. I would also like to include the CB rim elevation but that would be under the structure table. Is there any way I can combine the RIm elevation with the pipe table?

Unfortunately, those would like to have a CMYK PDF image, including an additional layer for a "highlight" color (which should be gold or silver, not sure yet). I've done a bit playing and, so far, am unsure about whether (and/or how) such a kind of pre-print color separation can be done using GIMP, or whether I would have to do this in another way. how to get my xcf stored in a way feasible for this kind of printing?

I am having a Tiff image in RGB which needs to be converted to CMYK. How do I do it? Without loosing the dpi.
Also my publisher is complaining that the image has an alpha channel and has to be removed. How do I do both these ?
I had a sudden loss of Photoshop and need to work on a large multi-layered psd. (Had I known in advance I would have reduced the size & layer amount.) Gimp won't open it because it's CMYK.
Tried several conversion techniques to RGB, none worked well. How can I open this file and maintain the layers? Also, there seem to be several different kinds of RGB, what are the differences?
About once a year I ask about a capability to output a file fromGimp in pdf format and the CMYK color model. In addition it would benice if this output was in the PDF X/1-a:2001 format, to satisfycertain fussy printers. I know there are external converters likeImageMagick. It would however be nice if after all these years Gimpcatered to the needs of the printing industry.

I am using AI and PS CS5.I have an eps in AI that is set for RGB. The colors are how I want them.
Â
When I open the same eps in PS, PS thinks the file is CMYK. Whether I open the file as CMYK and convert to RGB or open at RGB, the colors shift. If I leave the file as CMYK, the colors are shifted.
Â
I can confirm that when I convert the file in AI from RGB to CMYK, I can see the color shift. If I leave the file as RGB in AI, it looks how I want.cannot get the file to show in PS as the same color as what I see in AI.I have confirmed that both AI and PS have color settings set to NA GP2.

I've been creating book covers in paint shop pro 8. I create the covers from images that I get from my customers, and then send them off to a printer to be printed. On a couple of occasions, the printer people have came back and told me my cover is created in "rich" black. I think they mean the CMYK value is 100% for all 4 colors. They won't accept that. My question is, in photoshop, is there a way once I receive an image to check and see what the CMYK value of that image is, and if so, fix potential problems as described above? It doesn't appear I can in paint shop pro. I have been looking for a good reason to purchase photoshop anyway since I'm sure its a much better graphics program.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a flattened .psd file with significant areas of contaminated black that needs to be changed to key color black. The problem is that the color mode was changed from RGB to CMYK at the last minute after the file was flattened and saved, so now I'm stuck with large black areas that are not PANTONE process black, but are 90% K with varying levels of CM and Y. I need to replace the large impure black swaths of my file with true key color black without compromising the quality of the file to ensure the project succeeds.

I sometimes Export a vector image with a text I put on, from Illustrator to PS. I do that because I want to work some more on it. However, I'm not sure whether to Export as CMYK or RGB. I have been told that there are more options for working on an image, if it's RGB, it that true? Mostly, I want to do some effects on the text.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a folder of images, some in RGB, some in CMYK. I want them all to be in RGB so I'm running a batch action on them with a conditional mode change. So, if a file is in CMYK, it is changed to RGB.
But if a file is already in RGB, I get this annoying alert, telling me "Mode of the document is the same as the target mode. No conversion performed."
Well, of course. I don't expect it to be converted. That's why I chose CONDITIONAL mode change! I don't want to have to hold PS's hand through this batch but it's making me sit through the conversion of hundreds of files simply so I can say okay that it's doing what I asked it to do.
I've checked the "suppress color profile warnings" box and told it to log errors to a file (i.e not to stop) but I'm still getting the alert.
