Aug 29, 2012I've just gotten an ASUS Zenbook ultrabook, and I have to say that it runs PS (CS5) beautifully. Just one problem: with the 1920x1080 resolution, the menus, tools, etc. are tiny. Is there any way to change the size of the font in PS itself without changing the resolution on the whole computer?

Aug 18, 2013Just recently moved to Gimp. I like it but I am struggling. Millions of questions, but to start: How can I alter the resolution of and image without changing its physical size. I am trying to keep to a print size of 7x5", and reduce the resolution to 300pixel/inch. When I go to: 'set image print resolution' and change the X and Y resolution, the 'Print Size' changes with it. I have tried everything I can think of. I have make a new file at the correct resolution and pasted the image in, but the colors in the photos changed, so I dumped that idea.

Mar 14, 2012I've just started playing around with GIMP. I've made two images containing a text to start with. For DPL2.tiff, the resolution (both X and Y) is 72 pixels/in, for DPL4.tiff it is 1 pixel/in.
My question is, shouldn't there be a noticeable difference in quality of the images?

Nov 6, 2011I'm trying to use some pictures to design a calendar online and the pictures have to be high resolution to look right. I had no problem changing the resolution on paint shop pro until it decided it crash and never reopen. Now I'm trying to figure out how on earth to do that with gimp. On PSP I just went to image/resize and all I had to do was change the 72 to 300. I'm at loss on how to do it with any other paint or photo program.

Jan 11, 2012I Googled and found the steps for creating a colored circle with theborder size I preferred. Cool. But when it came to something as simple as copying that circle (it's in a new layer) and changing the size, Google was pulling up irrelevant sites. Yes I've seen the official docs, but they're very detailed and I'm in a "get it done now" environment.
My base image is a screen capture of the most commonly-used screen in our main software here. I want to create copies of my groovy new circle and place it over the buttons employees will use each day. Plus re-size the circles as needed. (Note that I've been using Photoshop in the past, and I don't know how to "see" each new layer in GIMP.)

Or else know the sizes of the different picture frames provided by choosing the different page layouts. That way I can either change the picture frame dimensions to accomodate each photo or change the image size to fit in the offered picture frame. I find that using the software as is winds up cropping the images in unwanted ways. Modifying the picture frame would be my preferred alternative.

Dec 20, 2013I used scale image to make a 2.314" x 3" image to print so it'll fit in a frame that I have for that same size. When I print it out the size looks great but it's over on the edge of the 4x6 paper and most of the picture is cut off. I tried, I should use print size and not canvas size but when I change the print size to 4x6 it also changes my canvas size back to 4x6. I still have my original so I can do this again but what I want is a 2.314"x3" image to print out on my 4x6 glossy paper.

May 29, 2011Can gimp change the picture from landscape to portrait. Like when u rotate the camera 90 degrees while snapping the picture. Tried all kinds of options/preference in gimp but printer (hpc6280) just will not rotate a 4x6 print. I believe it works with 11.8.5 paper (not sure).

Aug 16, 2012I'm trying to change the white background on a picture of myself to be transparent. When I use the "Color to Alpha" tool, it works, but when I paste the photo into word/powerpoint/etc not only does it turn the white background 100% transparent but it also makes the whole image slightly transparent.
How can I make the white background disappear without making the whole image transparent? I want to use color to alpha because if I simply use the magic wand tool and delete the white area there is still some white showing through my hair.
