Photoshop :: Digital Camera Dpi

Jul 15, 2004

question regarding the quality of a digital picture. If I take a picture in 2048 x 1536, when I open in Photoshop it says 72 dpi. This is my question:

I want to take this picture and use it in a graphic ad that is going to be printed in a final output of 300 dpi. Do I need to change the resolution to 300 dpi? Will this be a true 300dpi image?

Photoshop :: Digital Video Camera

Oct 29, 2004

I have a friend who is interested in purchasing a Digital Video Camera. They would like to keep the budget around $500 USD if possible. I, myself, would have offered her my advice, but in all honesty, I'm not too up to date on the latest happenings for that product line.

Since there are many great artists here, if anyone has delved into digital video, and can recommend to me a good camera, please let me know so I can tell her (they want this camera to take video of their first child!) They would like something that is simplistic to operate (she knows her way around computers though), and preferably something that converts to an easy-to-view media format.

Photoshop :: Digital Camera Moire

Nov 11, 2002

Is there a good technique to remove or prevent a moiré pattern from a digital camera capture? I work for a small real estate newspaper and lately the majority of images we have received from Agents have been unretouched jpeg files from digital cameras. In many of them we are seeing a distinct moiré pattern, usually where the repeated geometric patterns in the design of the house exist. Typically this is usually the roof tiles, or siding of the house. I have tried to remove the moiré in PhotoShop using the filter>noise>deskpeckle, the filter>blur>gaussian blur and the filter>noise>median, and Katrin Eismann's LAB method all with limited and unsatisfactory results.

Photoshop :: Correcting Colors From Digital Camera

Dec 21, 2012

I don't really understand digital -photography- that well---which is quite different I realize than film. I'm trying to get better colors from a  pocket digital camera (Canon Elf 310) which (supposedly) has 12MP. The pictures I want to take for the job I have in mind involve clouds and landscapes and I gotta take a pocket came because we're camping/fishing.

Anyway, they -could- be very cool but the tests I've done show that the colors are going to be just -wrong-. And by 'wrong' I mean everything either seems -under- saturated or hyper-statured. For example... the subtle pinks in clouds are rendered as washed out or will be overly contrasty (hyper) yellow to orange.

The detail is quite sharp, however so does that mean there's something 'there' there which can be properly corrected? And if so, how?

Photoshop :: How To Edit RAW Files From My Digital Camera

Nov 11, 2005

I want to shoot RAW images on my digital camera but I'm at a loss when it comes to how to edit RAW files.

I don't really want to use the RAW software that came with my camera but have read somewhere that you can edit RAW files in Photoshop. I have Photoshop CS but can't figure out how to use the RAW plug in.

Would the Photoshop CS RAW plug in work in the same way as the RAW shooter software I got with my camera? I mean if I used the Photoshop RAW plug in it's not going to compress my images. The reason for shooting RAW is that they are like a digital negative.

Photoshop :: Unable To Open Any Digital Camera Files From Within CS6

Nov 7, 2013

I cannot open new files from Photoshop CS6.

I have to go outside of the program and open them by dragging the file onto the dock icon. This means I cannot open any of my digital camera files (transferred into Nikon Transfer into "Pictures") from the program. So, I have to go 'outside' of PS, and then back in – and this eats up a good deal of time, and this latest version isn't as quick as it used to be.

Sometimes, it won't even let me open a file I'd worked on only a few hours before. Again, I can open them 'outside' PS, but I keep getting this error when I try to access them from via command-O:

"Could not complete your request because of a program error."

I've reset the defaults twice. Fresh operating system. Clean user account.

Photoshop :: Can't Open RAW Images From Canon G6 Digital Camera

Nov 7, 2011

Windows 7 (64 bit) Q6600 Intel 2.4 Quad / 8 GB DDR2 RAM

I have a G6 Canon digital camera that I primarily shoot JPG images with, and wanted to experiment with raw images.

I took about 15 RAW images the other day with this camera and tried to open up. I went to canon and downloaded their Zoombrowser 6.0, which I can view the RAW files, but it does not edit them. I'm looking for something similar to Adobe Camera raw to hopefully view and edit them.

opening the photo. I had to remove the photo for obvious reasons.

Photoshop :: Rich, Saturated Colors From Digital Camera

Nov 30, 2005

Wondering what techniques, or actions anyone uses to achieve the rich and saturated colors that I see in many images.

When I've messed around with saturation in my images I often wind up jacking up the skin tones, among other things. I know that on one or two images I can isolate the areas that I want to saturate but on many images this is not practical. I shoot with a 20D and a variety of Canon and Sigma lens, primarily a Canon 50 1.8, 85 1.8 and Sigma 24-70 2.8 and 70-200 2.8.

Lightroom :: Preset For Digital Picture Frame

Jan 31, 2014

I'm trying to create a batch of photos that will display properly on a digital picture frame.  Unfortunately, the digital picture frame will stretch or compress the image in seemingly unpredictiable ways.  It destroys the proper aspect ration of the images.

I'd like to create a preset for exporting these images that would create an image of a defined size (and aspect) with the photo.  If the photo doesn't match the sizes defined the preset should create the best fit then letterbox the photo so the image always matches the size of the photo frame but the aspect of the photo is preserved.

Essentially, it should create a background of a certain size then overlay the photo to best fit the dimensions while preserving the aspect ration.  This would provide an image file that would always be the defined size of the picture frame thus preventing the frame from distorting the aspect ration of the image.I don't see a way to create an export preset to accomplish this.

Paint.NET :: Change Color On Digital Drawn Picture?

Nov 20, 2013

I'm a Model Railroader, as the screen name implies. "RRArtist" RailRoad Artist. Anyway, I have a MoPar garage, planned, I have this 3D model, built, I'm merely working on a sign, that is based off I think the 1950's.....This sign, will depict my interests in MoPar, a "Hemi", and the classy girls used back in the day, as part of the sign, AND will be lighted......SO, in 1/87th to the foot scale (Pretty small) its nearly impossible to get a "Hemi" motor, and be able to see that it is a Hemi! SO, my plan, is to take a 1:25th scale Hemi motor, and mount it to a sign pole, that's a pipe, to carry wires for lighting. Then UNDER this sign, will be a girl, that looks as tho, she is holding up a sign that says "Hemi" in the old "MoPar" signage.....UNDER her will be this Hemi Motor.....BUT the lighting is the fun part as the "lamp shades. will be CHROMED Hemi Valve Covers.....With the motor itself, painted orange, with black valve covers.....

Now this girl on the sign, is the issue.............. The girl is actually a blonde.....(don't ask LOL) I need to change her hair color... to red! Problem is? The clothing shes wearing, a short skirt, or short shorts, that are also...........RED.... so, it leaves way to much "red" for the sign......Looks good as is, don't get me wrong, BUT, if I can replace her blonde hair with red hair, to match the "looks" of the image, to be "believable" is GREAT, BUT I want to remove the red from her clothing, and make it Hemi Orange.......... trimmed in black with the silverish looks it already has, blended into the red as you will see...

This whole project is going on a display I'm adding to my layout for looks for when I run trains and to show my other interest.......... old MoPar muscle cars that were Hemi with a garage to repair them, from back in the day......Trying to make all the colors fall into place is my issue!

Photoshop :: Picture Resolution

Jul 6, 2006

I reduced the size of a couple of pictures in Photoshop, but the dpi also reduced based on the size. I have saved the picture with this resolution. Now the problem is that when i am trying to get this printed, the website asks that the picture be atleast 300dpi to get quality pictures. I cannot not reduce the size of the images, as these pictures need to be embedded in a word file.

My question is - if i increase the dpi for the existing saved pictures will it help or should i go about reducing the size of the original picture and also maintain the dpi right from scratch.

Photoshop :: Changing Pattern Resolution?

Oct 2, 2007

This question revolves around the pattern stamp tool and masking out trees/shrubs. I use the patterns often because I am making 3d models of buildings from photographs. Often times there are many obstructions in the images that need to be edited out. So I usually create a texture pattern and then fill it where it needs to cover up these obstructions.

The problem I see is that there is no scaling on the pattern stamp tool. Each photo that I am editing will have a different resolution and so the original pattern stamp I created will only work on the original sampled image. There are several tricks I've come up with, such as creating a vector mask out of the selection and paint bucket filling the space with the pattern, then reducing the scale of the fill, but this method doesn't work all that well..

if there is a hidden trick to scaling the pattern stamp tool to work with?

Photoshop :: Changing Resolution Of Images For Printing

But then I realised that I should have changed the resolution of the images I sent to the printing company from 72 dpi to 300 dpi. I have just sent another book with all the images changed to 300dpi which should be good. But ..... I didn't do anything with the "resampling" tick box - I just left it ticked (mainly cos I didn't understand it). Should I have unchecked the "resampling" tick box?

Photoshop :: Cropping, Reducing, & Changing Resolution

Aug 12, 2004

I am creating a 5-page instruction sheet in Pagemaker 6.5 and have been given 26 digital camera photos to illustrate it. They are 72 ppi RGB jpegs, size is 31.5 x 23.6 inches (2272 x 1704). I'm using PS 6 to color-correct, crop and resize them.

The end product will be a pdf which will be made available on a website for students to download and print on their own inkjet printers, so I want them to be higher-res than 72.

Each photo needs to be cropped and reduced to around 2 x 1.5 inches. I thought I could use the crop tool to determine my target dimensions and resolution (200 PPI). I think that resamples them though, and the result has been rather fuzzy, printing the pdf on both a Docucolor and a cheapo inkjet. (My problem may also be in the Acrobat Distiller job options.)

When I change the resolution in the image size box (no resampling) and then crop it, it turns into something like an 1100 ppi image. Is that right?.

I be saving them as TIFFs or JPGs? When I tried saving as TIFFS, they looked ghastly on my monitor (in the Pagemaker file, that is).
