GIMP :: Tilt-wheel And Back / Forward Buttons On Mouse Not Working?
Jan 6, 2014
I have a Logitech M510 wireless mouse, and it works fine for everything, Firefox horizontally scrolls just fine with the tilt-wheel, and the forward and backward buttons on the mouse function as well. But not in GIMP.
I'm running an HP laptop with Windows 7, and GIMP 2.8.
I tried binding brush size decrease/increase to left/right scroll in the mouse wheel input and nothing happens. Then I restarted GIMP from a terminal with --verbose and told the wheel input to dump events and the only ones printed were scroll up/down. Curious, I enabled the dump for the mouse buttons input as well, and the back/previous buttons also don't generate events.
Because it works fine in other applications and because it generates no events in GIMP
I recently had to reinstall LR 4.2 due to a hard drive failure. Previously, I could cycle through my photos by using the forward or reverse buttons on the side ofmy Microsoft mouse. Now I cannot. How can I get LR to respond again? I have set the mouse to 'enable program specific settings'
my mouse wheel worked for panning while i am in the middle of a command, put now it stopped working and when i click the wheel i get my osnaps command. how can i get my mouse wheel to pan again?
I recently installed the Student version of AutoCad 2013 on my Mac through Windows 7. I am not able to use the wheel on my mouse to get to the hand tool to move around. When I hold down the wheel, it swipes over to my Mac dashboard. Also the delete button does not delete. I have to use the E command.
I just installed AutoCAD 2011 (32-bit on Windows XP Pro) and my mouse wheel pan capability is not working. I have already confirmed that my Mbuttonpan variable is set to 1. When I press my mouse wheel button I see the 'hand icon' for a moment before my cursor returns to the crosshairs. The mouse wheel zoom works just fine, and the pan function still works on my old 2010 install.
I have acad 13 installed on an asus laptop. I wanted to do some serious work last night so I plugged in the mouse to the usb port. Doing my usual quick clicking, anytime i was "inside the dwg" like say select or pick a point on the screen, i needed a second pick to do anything. Same with rt click for return. picking a menu item or dropdown or button works fine, "outside the dwg".
Noticed that a slow deliberate click seems to work.I reloaded the asus mouse driver, no dice.I took a 10 year logitech old mouse out, same problem. This problem does not occur using the pointing/click device built into the laptop. Is there something that is looking at the duration of my click in acad? in asus computer ?
I'd like to change what the right mouse button does. I went to EDIT > PREFERENCES > INPUT CONTROLLERS and tried to see where to change this (and I did successfully for the mouse wheel last week) but I couldn't find under MOUSE BUTTONS what would control what command is accessed via the right mouse wheel.
how to make a change in the preferences to what the right mouse wheel does? I know where's the most likely place to go to find the command; it's just where to access the right mouse wheel that has me stumped.
How to change the zoom in and out behaviour of the middle mouse wheel in Windows GIMP to work without having to press the ^ (control) button on the keyboard? I'm using to zooming in and out using just the mouse wheel alone and hoping that a setting in GIMP could be changed so that it also works without pressing the ^ (control) button at the same time.
I've googled this along with a few other things over last couple of days but no luck. Can this be done?
I need to do some shading work in Gimp, and for this it would be very nice to have a quick way to change my brush size. Luckily there's a note in the gimp docs on how to program the mouse wheel to do this:

My laptop only has a touchpad with a little scroll area on the side, but I can't think of a good reason why this should be any different from a scroll wheel on a real mouse. Unfortunately, though, following the documentation doesn't work.
In fact, as far as I can tell, the input controllers dialog does nothing at all on my system--I've looked at the settings for the all of the 'active controllers,' and none of the current settings there match with the actual behavior of Gimp as far as I can tell. It also worries me that the controller names are so generic--they're listed as 'Main Keyboard' and 'Main Mouse Wheel' rather than mentioning a synaptics touchpad, and my tablet doesn't even seem to be listed.
The Paint.Net tutorial shows tools to move layers forward or backward. I couldn't find these tools in the layers' drop down menu.
Edit ------------------------------
Never mind -- I did find out where these commands were hidden... I'm working on a map, and I'm trying to get latitude and longitude lines to overprint the actual map. As I moved the layer with the lat/longitude lines "forward" they don't appear to overprint the map in the background. Is there some other secret here to get the desired effect?
I have 10 scenes in my animation and I want to control it by using keyboard arrow keys. For example if i press right arrow key the scene go forward and when i press left arrow key the scene moves backward.
Where can I change that scrolling the mouse wheel moves me up and down the page instead of zooms in and out? I want it as it was in X5 (I may have changed some setting there, but that I have forgotten).
Occasionally when I try to zoom with the mouse wheel it just won't let me to. I have to pan around and then it'll let me zoom again. That's extremely irritating. I've never encountered such problem in previous versions of Max. I have the service pack and both hotfixes installed.
I'm using Illustrator CS4 - Windows and I'm not able to scroll up and down using the mouse wheel nor can I scroll side to side using the mouse wheel with the ctrl-spacebar. I'm looking for how to enable this function within Illustrator, but am unable to find it.
In CS3 after clicking onto the slider "triangle" I can then adjust it with the mouse wheel. I don't appear to be able to do this in CS6. Can this be remedied?
Is it possible to adjust the behavior of Corel Draw X5 in order to have the scroll wheel of the mouse behave like the scrolling action on a web browser. I would like a vertical scroll to vertically scroll the design when I am zoomed in and some of the design continues beyond the current view. Also, I have a mouse that can scroll horizontally when the scroll wheel is nudged from side to side, so I would like to have a horizontal scroll as well, if possible.
I have recently installed autocad 2011 mac version, i want to change 3 wheel setting from panning to zooming i changed mbutton pan from 0 - 1 but still its not working, i changed zoom wheel from 0 - 1 but its not working and in mac mouse settings are pre installed.
I don't mean the Zoom Tool, but simple zoom in/out operations. I seem to recall that the default behaviour in Photoshop was that you zoomed with Ctrl+mousewheel scrolling, and if you just scrolled, then the picture would pan up/down (vertically). And you could untick the "Zoom with scroll wheel" option if you didn't want Ctrl+scroll to mean "zoom".
However for a while now, having that option ticked seems to mean that scrolling (with no Ctrl) is all it takes to zoom in/out, and if you untick the option then you need to press Alt+scroll to zoom; in either case, there is no shortcut for panningup/down.
Anyway, whether this was really ever the case or not, my question is: is it somehow possible to make it so Ctrl+scroll zooms and (simple) scroll pans vertically?
I have a Logitech MX Laser 1000 mouse, love the mouse. But the Middle scroll button does not pan when you hold down the wheel. And when you double click the wheel it no longer does a zoom extents. When you scroll the wheel it does zoom in and out. My mbuttonpan is set to 1. Not sure if I toggled something on or off.
My old microsoft mouse died and i replaced it with a new 3500. For some reason, i cant get it to pan when i use the wheel button. it zooms fine with the wheel... just wont pan. I tried changing the wheel function in Control Panel... unfortunately Pan isn't an option for "program specific" functions. The ACAD help section lists pan as the only function with the wheel button.
Is there a way to change the zoom on the mouse wheel? Currently to zoom out I scroll toward myself. I would like it to be the opposite since other programs I use are set up in this fashion. It would be easier if all were the same.
The wheel as a pan tool was good the other day, but today when I opened CAD, it did not work anymore, there was no pan tool appearing when holding the wheel of the mouse. It is rather strange!! Then I searched the internet and resetted it by input command " Mbuttonpan---- 1-----enter", But there was no change.
When you use the wheel autocad zooms in and out. Is there a way to make it so when you hold ctrl and move the wheel Autocad pans left and right? ANd a shift+wheel pans up and down?

I have Photoshop CS4(11.0.1) and an intuos 3 tablet. I'm trying to get the Pen Tilt setting to work in photoshop but it just doesn't. The tilt works fine in Painter however, and I have the latest wacom drivers installed.
In the brush settings I'm going under Shape dynamics(it's checked), checking control>pen tilt, min diameter 0, tilt scale 200%. No matter what I do it only always works as if I have the control set to pen pressure sensitivity.
I don't think I need the 6D art pen for pen tilt, or do I? Is there any other hidden setting for this to work?
