GIMP :: Removing Nose Shadow

Feb 12, 2013

It was taken with overhead lighting and no flash, which produced a shadow under the nose.

I've tried various techniques I've been able to find online, but I never seem to be able to get anything that corrects the shadow in a natural way.

Photoshop :: Adding Contrast - Removing A Shadow?

Oct 8, 2013

This is an old Kodak PCD image of a stained glass window converted to a TIF and a small portion made into a JPG for the purpose of this illustration. I would like to make 2 corrections:

1) I would like to accentuate the brush marks in the face. From my humble notions of PS I know that pulling the contrast slider across isn't really the answer but something like finding the fainter, darker pixels and accentuating them with some kind of mask is more the way to go.

2) There is an outdoor shadow that runs up the left hand side of the image which I would like to eliminate.

Photoshop :: Removing Flash Background Shadow

Jul 24, 2011

Last week I shot a company event and didn't have an external flash or diffuser. This resulted in a very contrasty background shadow.

If it were just one shot, I would clone/stamp and be done; but I have about 25 shots to correct.

Any quick method to remove the shadow or at least reduce it's impact?

Photoshop :: Method For Removing Drop Shadow From Flattened Image

Jul 3, 2007

Do any of you have any tips or ticks for removing a drop shadow from a flattened image?

I have a jpg that I received from a client for a website I'm doing for him. He does not have the logo in any other format. The image is on a white background, which will not work with the design I'm making for him.

The image is fairly simple, it's just some text with triangles, but the text has some layer effects applied to it that I'm not sure where they came from or how to recreate them.

Any ideas on how to remove the drop shadow? I have attached part of the image. If any one has ideas on how to recreate the text effects (including the texture) I am willing to do that and recreate the logo instead of trying to edit out the drop shadow.

Photoshop :: Removing Background Shadow On Transparent PNG Image Without Losing Shading Object?

Oct 8, 2013

I have a pillow bevel applied to a paint splatter brush image, and I'm having trouble with the shadows. I want to save this splatter as a transparent PNG. The problem is that a drop shadow effect is showing up when I save it this way. I think it's a "shading" setting rather than a true drop shadow, as there is no drop shadow set in the layer styles.

The shadow does not appear when a white background is applied. It only shows when the background is transparent. I've tried reducing the shading opacity in the bevel dialogue, and this does get rid of the drop shadow....the problem is that it also removes the shading from the paint splatter, making the image look flat instead of raised.

Photoshop :: Retouch Prettty Face Nose

Jun 7, 2004

Somewhere out there is a crack PS CS user who can solve an irritating "nose" problem of a photo I shot nearly twenty years ago. It was one of those outtakes I held on to. Now, with the advent of PS I have taken another look at it. Trouble is, as you have already noticed, is that the model's nostrils are not equal in size. The right one is particularly disturbing. I am thinking a complete reshaping of the lower nose is in order. Trouble is, I have racked my brains trying to get the new look acceptable. My master copy is Tiff and 50MB size.

Photoshop :: Adjusting The Color Of Little Girl's Nose

Feb 8, 2007

First off, I didn't know if I should post here or in the 'General Photoshop Discussion' forum. I don't really have a question as to 'how an image was made' [more like: how I can do it] but I do see many such questions asked in this section, so that’s where I posted.

Anyway, my question is what techniques/tools can I use to get the coloring on her nose to match that of the rest of her face? [she'd been crying ] I thought the 'Healing Brush Tool' might be useful but when I tried that, it didn't go well!

GIMP :: Moving The Drop Shadow?

Aug 16, 2012

Upon inserting a .xcf drop-shadowed image into another .xcf image - by selecting Open As Layers - it inserts fine, but when I select the Move tool to move the image, the drop shadow doesn't move with the image. I tried selecting the drop-shadow layer from the layers - channels, paths area, but when I do that, and then try to move the drop shadow, instead of the drop shadow moving - when I select it, the entire background moves.

GIMP :: How To Create Shadow Gradient

GIMP :: Drop Shadow With Nearby Light Source

Nov 17, 2012

When you apply a drop shadow, the shadow is cast in the same direction from all parts of the object. E.g. the shadow is projected to the right and downwards from the object. In other words the light source is far away and it produces parallel rays of light.

Is there a way to cast a shadow where the light source is quite close to the object? For example imagine the light source was just above the object. Parts of the object on the left would have their shadow projecting to the left and down and parts of the object on the right would have a shadow projecting to the right and down.

GIMP :: Can't Apply Drop Shadow To Desired Text Layer

Aug 23, 2011

I'm an infrequent and relatively unskilled GIMP user. I have used drop shadow in the past, and have been using it this afternoon with no problem until I started working on one image where I can't seem to apply the drop shadow to some text. I've got a 3-layer image, a background, a smaller image on a separate layer, and a text layer. Whenever I try to apply drop shadow to the text layer or the smaller image layer, it applies it to the background. I've tried everything I can think of...deleting and recreating the text layer, changing the "level" of the layer, closing then reopening the image...closing and restarting GIMP.. I select the text layer, click "Filter > Light and Shadow > Drop Shadow", and apply and it always applies it to the background.

Is there any way of removing the lines that go around the edge of a blank layer? I'm making a design which has a black background where I need to experiment by moving other layers around, and I keep getting the faint outside edge of the layer showing. For example, I created a transparent layer to create a supa nova; I move the layer around the black background and get the faint outside edge of the layer.

Is there anyway of getting rid of these besides maybe using the clone tool?

GIMP :: Removing Image From Background

Jan 24, 2013

Before I pass along to you my request, I'd like to point out that I have watched tutorial, after tutorial on how to remove an image from a background. Every thing goes great, "step by step", (my project compared to tutorial) right to the final procedure. Then my image either turns "white/black", or disappears (lets just say the project does not pan out compared to tutorials). But everything is "fine", right up to final phase. How to do the following....

1. Extract an image from a background (any kind) of background.

2. Instruct me how to take the extracted image, and "save" it to file, to use it in "another" project, at a later time.

3. How to take an image (for instance, a large hole in a tree) and take another image, and place it in there. Inside this hole in the tree, I want to take an image, and "blend" it into the hole in the tree. Another wards,I don't want to just place a vivid "sharp" image into the hole in the tree, I want a " halo/gradual fade out from tree, to a gradual fade in to object placed in tree. I hope you understand my description. Basically, going from a sharp vivid image, to a gradual blending of another image in hole of tree.
