GIMP :: Lowering Resolution In Work-in-progress?

Dec 8, 2011

how to use layers, and how to get the colors under the black ink-lines. The results are so good, I am able to do professional-level work with this excellent coloring/image-manipulation program. Yes, I'm doing paid work with GIMP 2!

However! As I am still experimenting with several techniques [I found that scanning in at 600 on my scanner produces good-enough quality linework to color etc], I tried one cartoon frame at 1200 and although the resolution is excellent, the higher res has meant the program is slow in shutting down/flattening layers, etc. GIMP works fine in 600 resolution and I will stick to this in future.

Is there any way I can convert the resolution down from 1200 to 600 halfway through, which would save me from starting the color from scratch again? I may also have a problem e-mailing the finished pro cartoon artwork at 1200.......The image is in xcf format.

Paint Shop Pro :: Automatically Save Copy Of Work In Progress Every X Minutes?

Feb 24, 2013

In older versions of PSP, auto-save would automatically save a copy of the work in progress every X minutes (depending on what was set by the user) and overwriting the previous version, including the original if not working on a copy of it.

In PSPX4, auto-preserve added the functionality of saving a copy of the original to avoid overwriting it, but it also has autosave setting.

Questions :

- what does the autosave do except save the image when changing from Edit to Manage to Adjust?

- does autosave automatically save a copy (even if overwriting) of the work in progress?

- if so, where do we set how frequently a save should be?

Revit :: Filtering Work In Progress Section Visibilities From Plan By View Filters

I'm trying to find a way of filtering the 'work in progress' section visibilities from a plan by view filters.  The filter I use is 'Sheet Name' equal '<None>'.  Then turning off visibility.  It works when used in the Browser organisation filters but not in the view filter for the sheets.

I don't want to create a check box or dialogue box for the sheet as this will add to the required maintenance.

GIMP :: Lost Progress DMP File

Jan 13, 2010

I was working on a picture; I had no other programs running and out of the hundreads of photos Ive edited, nothing like this has ever happened.

It was going to my best edit ever and the file size in GIMP was a little over 1.02GB which is fine. Right when I added some HVS Noise to a portion of the image the little green loading bar froze at the end but the effect sti'll worked. I go to move the layer down and everything just stopped.

I cannot re-make that image. I loaded the task manager and created a DMP in hope that I may be able to read it.

Is there anyway to get all that progress back? the DMP file is 290MB so I'm thinking that it saved everything but I could be wrong. I have not loaded GIMP since.

Photoshop :: Screen Resolution Preferences Does Not Work?

Sep 8, 2013

I have a 1920x1080, 17.4 laptop. That is approx 126.6 ppi screen resolution if my calculkations are correct...So in order to set PS to display real size of the images according to the zoom, I go to edit / preferences / units & rulers and set the screen resolution to 126.6 instead of the default 72ppi.

But nothing changes...what am I doing wrong? 100% zoom is still showing much larger image than real (as if 72ppi screen resolution was unchanged). I have tried extreme ppi like 10 and 1000 to see if anything chaged but still nothing, I have restarted Ps and the laptop, and the preferences are correctly saved but zoom still wrong..

Photoshop :: What's An Ideal Photo Resolution To Work With?

Jul 21, 2009

I am learning Photoshop on my own. I am using CS4. I need some help in understanding the resolution thing.

If I have a photo taken with a digitala camera at 6 megapixel and I want to load it on Photoshop for a few tweaks and adjustments what resolution should I assign? I usually choose 200 pixels/inch.

Secondly, does it affect the image if the resolution assigned on Photoshop is lesser than the camera resolution?

I do not take prints of my Photoshop works. Just in case I need to print them I need to make sure that the resolution is appropriate.

I know how to make it grainy and lower the contrast a bit, which helped, but the pictures are still very crisp and clear. I don't want them out of focus, but a little blurry to look as if they were captured on something like a camera phone.

3ds Max :: Lowering Samples Per Pixel And High Output Size

Jan 23, 2012

I do a lot of animations so I create FG maps and freeze them. I normally render at 1280 x 720 and create my FG maps at 480 x 270 and samples per pixel at min 4 max 64.

Does samples per pixel effect FG maps. I read somewhere it doesn't and that you can quite happily render FG maps at min 1/64 max 1/64. Which would increase the speed of the crateing FG maps.

Would I be better lowering my samples per pixel and highering my output size?

I'm usually in a constant battle with flickering especially with folaige

GIMP :: File Sizes Different With Same Resolution

Apr 26, 2011

I've received several scanned images from another party in .jpg format. The file sizes of some run about 100k and others about 300k.

When I looked at the image properties they were almost the same for each of them. All of them had a resolution of 96x96 and each having around 40,000 pixels (roughly 500X800 pixel images). The print sizes were all about 5.5x8.5 inches.

Why would .jpg images with similar pixel resolution and number have such different file sizes?

GIMP :: Image Resolution Being Changed Automatically

Feb 2, 2012

I am opening some 300 dpi photographs, but when I go to the "scale image" dialog box in Gimp, the image resolution is listed by default as 72dpi !!

But the pictures were shot in high-res, and when you look at the file properties or open the image in Photoshop, they all confirm that it is a 300 dpi picture. Only Gimp is presenting it as 72dpi. It happens that the photographs are bw, but the color mode is RGB, not grey scale.

How I can stop Gimp down sampling the images automatically if that's what is happening?
