I am doing a process which means that I have to repeat filters and it's a slow process to keep opening the filters tab, then the recently used tab, then the filter.
I was wondering if there is a way to load the 'recently used' up onto the main tool bar so that it would be possible to go straight to it.
Specifications: Ubuntu Unity3D
Or maybe drag the 'recently used' to a separate tool bar of it's own?
I love single window mode in the new 2.7 series. I currently have my preferences such that the main tool palette is locked to the upper-left side of the single window.
However, I can't move it. How to replicate this on a new install (since by default the tool palette is on the upper-right and can't be moved).
I'm guessing I missed a setting / preference somewhere. How do I move the main tool palette?

View 3 Replies View RelatedYesterday, before I got the problem, I got the toolbox AND the other toolbox, on the left and right, excactly as how I got it in the first time I got GIMP. But the next day, all I see was a blank screen on the GIMP, I check the "Windows" menu, go to the "Recently closed docks" and said "empty", it got erased completely on the tool only. The grid level, my other files, ect. is there, but the toolbox is completely erased for no reason.

I'm not sure if Gimp developers are able to assist, but running Gimp inUnity seems to be a bit problematic at times. Because of the global menu,focus on the correct toolbox / area is needed. Furthermore, Unity / Gimpseems to apply the focusing a bit unintelligently. For example, if I moveto another workspace and return to the Gimp workspace, the focus is nolonger on the main window, but rather on the toolbox.
View 6 Replies View RelatedJust got my Wacom draw tablet working with GIMP....but now I have a whole new set of issues GIMP will not respond to either the Wacom pen or mouse then stops responding to my main keyboard and main mouse ., lets me draw a little on one layer and then just stops working. Today when I tried to configure the tablet settings in the tool box it didn't read the tablet at all. And yes the tablet was plugged in. I think I am starting to hate GIMP.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have created a custom office standards tool palette for the users, and it is properly loaded on all the machines. The issue is that when the 'Tools' button on the ribbon is pressed, it loads to the 'design tools' palette by default. Most user here have the habit of closing the tool menu after use, and reopening it from the menu - which defaults back to the design tools palette instead of the office standards... which is frustrating when jumping back and forth constantly. I assumed there was an easy way to tell them to set the 'standards' as the default, but I can't seem to find this property anywhere.
View 0 Replies View RelatedAs a new user I really prefer the single window mode but have a real problem in that every time I open a filter the window/box that open opens up underneath the single window and I cant see it without minimising the main gimp window. I've played with the preferences windows management options and seem to have all the file options curves etc on top now (these were opening under the single window at one point) but nothing I do seems to want to make the filter boxes open where I can see them - It's making GIMP quite unpleasant to use.

I tried running both with verbose and this is the output:. note gimp returns instantly, having died? gimp-console blocks, after mentioning it would load script-fu. Does this imply it crashed there?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI can't get a simple script.scm to load a file, put it in a layer, add the layer to the active image and call it a day. My ultimate objective is to paste the same .png on top of every picture (about 70 of them) in batch mode. In order to feed the "load this particular file as a layer" command to Batch Image Manipulation plug-in, it has to be a script.
Despite a great deal of time on the internet looking for the proper syntax of gimp-load-layer, I could not find a single explanation to the "filename" parameter. Is it an absolute path? If relative, of what and where? If absolute, what's the proper syntax: do I put quotes, slash or backslash, one or two slash after C:? When I try to run my script, I get the error "Execution error for 'Test': Error: ( : 1) Invalid type for argument 2 to gimp-image-insert-layer, which I take to mean what I'm trying to feed it isn't a layer, which means the gimp-load-layer operation failed.
My stupidly simple and obstinately not working "script-fu-test.scm" is as follows:

I resize all my pix edits to 11-inches, to fit the screen properly.. After Gimp has resized about seven pix, on the next one, I delete the numbers after the decimal after the "11", and hit OK, but the numbers I deleted after the decimal all come back..
I must return to "Printsize", delete the whole height number, and key-in "11" for it to save the number of my choice..

I downloaded/installed the PPA for Gimp 2.9.1. It worked great for the first half dozen 16-bit tiffs.I use a few RAW converters to create these tiff tiles, RawTherapee, UFRAW, and the Sony software supplied with my A700 DSLR, Image Data Converter running through Wine.
At any rate, most of the tiffs I create now cause Gimp to crash when opening new files. I get this message: Plug-in crashed: "file-tiff-load" and Opening '/home/caruso/Desktop/PHOTOS from IDC/DSC06219.tif' failed:
Files created previously continue to open as normal.
I was so thrilled to have succeeded in installing 2.9.1 on my system, but now may have to uninstall it and fall back to 2.8.x.I realize that 2.9.1 is experimental and unstable, but would like to know if this is something simple that can be fixed.
I am trying to load single pages from multi page tiffs, convert them to monochrome (dithered), flatten the image, then save them as single monochrome, ccitt group4 tiffs. - all through scripts.
The multipage tiffs contain pages in grayscale and color which were created using the old style (problematic) JPEG compression option.
I have tried other tools, such as libtiff (modified with a patch to handle the old jpeg compression), and the latest version of imagemajick. Unfortunately they cannot correctly convert the files, whereas gimp can, but only one page of the multi-page tiff at a time(gimp crashes if I load a 5page document (as separate images) then convert each image to monochrome,flatten and save in one session)
the scripting function for loading tiffsfile-tiff-load does not expose the options to load individual pages, or to select loading as images or as layers, which the visual file load/import does.
How I can achieve this using a script.? Manually is not a problem, but too time consuming for large (eg. 200page) tiffs.
Is there an option PS CS6 or CC to have recently used fonts or fonts in doc on top of font list? I find it maddening to have to open old documents and select fonts to see what I've used.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've been using PS for decades. What as always confounded me over this time is the lack of "favorites" or recently used fonts in PS. I can't believe the developers of PS havn't figured this out. It's a royal P.I.T.A to have to wade through hundreds of fonts every time.

Attached is the popup that displays whenever I hover over a color with the dropper.This "SHOULD NEVER SEE!" is what appears.I have used X3 since it was released, and today is the first time this has happened, and it won't go away.
I've closed psp, re-booted the computer, then opened psp. No change.I reset the workspace to default, which sometimes fixes issues, but again, no luck.

I don't use smart collections much. Could that be set up as an attribute? Like the way Itunes has last played in decending order.
I'll have to scroll through 5,000 images now to find it and export to PS for some final work.
