GIMP :: Line Thickness Not Working?
Jun 21, 2013
So... I have a Bamboo Splash pen tablet and I have GIMP 2.8.4 on a Windows XP computer.
I was messing with the dynamics as much as possible, but I encountered an issue: it only adjusts opacity with pressure, not line thickness
I used Photoshop before and it allowed me to keep the opacity at 100% and change the thickness of the line with pressure (the way I prefer it)

What's the best way to measure something in GIMP? For example, suppose I want to determine the thickness of a line within an image so that I can extend it? The scales along the top and left sides only give a fairly crude approximation but I want to know exactly how many pixels thick the line is.
How do I do that in GIMP?

How to draw a line in Corel Draw which would have width=7 on its beginning and that would gradually become thinner, until it finishes with width = 1.
For example:
This line, just without the heart:

Or this one (the one below):

How can I do this with curvy or with straight line?

I have an artist who draws for me and he sent a profile sheet of some different heads to use on the body's already created.
PROBLEM:
When I import to Toonboom animation the image files Are in large scale and when shrunk down the match the body the heads lines are thinner than the body's line thickness.
Question:
Is there a way to import the image or scale it down prior to importing so as to keep the same line thickness?

I want to know if there is a way I can vary the thickness of a paintbrush line in Photoshop without having a tablet. I've done it before in Freehand by toggling the number keys, and I'm hoping that there is a similar way to do it in Adobe programs.
Anybody have any clue or should I just go ahead and invest in a tablet? I've got a lot of control with a mouse so accuracy isn't too much of an issue.

Is it possible to get the line thickness down of the calligraphic and/or pressure tools in artistic media? The minimum thickness seems to be .762mm (2.16 pt or 0.03"). I use a Wacom Intuos 3.

In model space all of my linetypes (for all me various details)look correct, however after creating multiple Viewports within a new layout, and scaling them appropriately the line thickness of each viewport look very thick. To the point where dimensions and notes are unreadable. But when I plot, everything is ok. It appears as though everything has been drawn with a very thick polyline. What causes this?

how to change the thickness of leader lines. I'm editing a drawing done by someone else and I need to make the leader lines thicker. I tried changing the layer thickness and making sure the settings were such that the leader line thickness would be determined by the layer. I also tried channging the leader line thickness in properties and/or leader styles, but no luck there either.

I've been working on a floor plan after which I wanted to mark the border of a particular area. So, I drew a polyline surrounding the space and used a 2 (inch?) lineweight. It appeared on my screen to be very thick so that was great. The problem is I can't seem to draw any other polyline without seeing this big thick line on my screen - even if the linewieght is set to something thinner. It still "shows up" huge. It's like my viewing setting is frozen to only show polylines real big.

I have an issue with plotting line thickness, when I use the company setup using a d-size B&W.pc3 and mono chrome.ctb files, i can't seem to get the plotter to show line thickness. But using the same setup with a customer border, I can get the line thickness.
Also I not sure if this makes a difference, but the company plots from model space and where most of our customers use paper space.

DIST temporary line with thickness - bug
To replicate:
Open any drawing > go to Layout.
Turn ON Lineweight.
Enter DIST command. Pick first point. Do not pick second point.
Instead do wheel mouse zoom in. => the temporary line has thickness. It should not.

As an exercise I'm trying to recreate the leaf image in the X5 guidebook ( pages 127 & 128). No problems until I came to drawing the yellow "veins" on the face of the leaf. I need to create lines that start off thin, get thicker in the middle and go back to thin at the other end.
I managed to create the effect by drawing a closed , filled object, and then playing around using the shape tool to achieve the desired result..
Is there a better, quicker way to do this. I tried doing it using the artistic tools but no luck there.

How I would change both the model and paper space thickness of a line in AutoCAD 2004? I've tried changing "line thickness" and "line weight" in the properties dialog box but it doesn't seem to matter whether it's 0 or 9,999,999 or any number, it just looks the same, in both the model space and paper space views.
I have a drawing someone else did that uses polylines of different thickness so I have tried to figure out how they did it. Again, looking at the properties dialog box it seems to make no difference what I set the "line thickness" or "line weight" properties to...the line just stays the same size regardless.
I want to change line thicknesses because I'm designing a surface water pipe layout...I want the pipes to be a lot thicker than the lines that represent the actual building so that they will stand out when I plot the drawing.

i have tried to change the layer's line thickness, but it effected both the text and the line border. how can i separate between them?

I have a schematic or drawing that I just need to increase the line thickness on. It is just all black lines and letters that are currently only like 1 pixel thick. When printed it is hard to see. Is there a good filter or method that any of you know of that will allow me to increase the thickness of these lines?

I'm making a graphic work (it's for my kid's yearbook), and I'm struggling to achieve an effect.
Here's the deal:
The attached file is an image in which I try to represent the text and graphics as if they were painted in a wood plank. I'm pleased with the effect on the surface of the plank, but I wanted to give the plank some thickness, to make it seem more like a 3d plank. That thickness effect is what has been tormenting me.

I've just recently caught up to 2.8 (From 2.4 something or other believe it or not ) and amongst a couple of things I have to say I don't like is the fact that previously when setting a path, if I wanted it to be either perfectly horizontal or vertical I could see by the steps in the path preview line whether it was or not.
With the new version, initially at least, that's no longer the case. As I tend to work with straight lines a lot of the time it's proving to be a bit of a pain. Is there any way to set the path preview line to show the steps again to indicate a straight line.

I'm using GIMP 2.6.11. When I use the line tool and left click + shift to snap a line from point to point, there's no preview line that shows exactly where the line is going to be drawn. In former version(s) of GIMP, I could clearly see where the line was going to be placed because of this feature. I miss it because when doing technical drawings precision and exact angles are needed. Is this feature not included with GIMP 2.6.11? How I can get this tool to work like it used to?

I'm creating a simple map for a non-profit event. I'd like to draw a white line (road) with a black outline to provide definition - it's simple a line within a line. Additionally, I'd like to save the setup for reuse as a default setting of some type to easily recall.

I am new to Corel Draw, and I'm using a shiny new copy of X5. It seems like this should be ultra simple, and I don't know what I could possibly be doing wrong, but I have text in a Paragraph box and want to simply adjust the line spacing (leading), but no matter what mode I'm in the control does nothing.
I made sure that I wasn't missing a space or a return or something by using select all, I have used all three modes, which will change the spacing as I select a new mode, but changing the value in the spacing box does nothing. I can make it 2 points 100 points, 50%, everything I have tried does nothing at all.

Why is it when I increase the lineweight, on the current layer, to a thicker lineweight from the default .25mm, it remains the same thickness/weight? I can change everything else, style, color, but not the weight. I need it to be a thick line, instead of the normal thin line.

I have previously sketched lines and tangent arcs so I know how it is supposed to work but on this new install of Inventor I am only able to draw line segments. When I try to drag an arc all I get is a line from the previous end point and the new end point. I think it is related to the fact that coincident restraints are not being made automatically as I draw but I have not been able to find where to turn that on.
