GIMP :: Edit GIF Image File - Replace Text And Change Font
Sep 15, 2013I just installed GIMP. My experience is with office suites, like WordPerfect and Sun Open Office.
First, is this the official forum for gimp.org?
I need to edit a GIF image file. I have it loaded and converted to RGB. I cannot find anything on any menu about edit a GIF file. It is basically a horizontal rectangle with text on the left and a color on the right, and I just need to replace the text and change the font, without disturbing anything else. It needs to "fit" back into a webpage afterwards. As far as I can see, there is only one layer, if that makes any difference.

Feb 1, 2012To gimp-user list recipients, I've run into a problem where I cant edit the delay between frames for my .GIF file. Im looking to set it it 41ms for each frame, which Ive done when prompted as I save my file, but the playback speed seems to stay at 100ms delay when I open the finished .GIF. Is it possible Gimp has trouble applying the delay to a high amount of frames? Im used alot of layers, 280 to be exact. The images/layers are from a video I previously converted to PNGs.

I've tried the "path tool", and also cropping it and copy/paste to the new image, but the background color that comes with it looks awful!

Jan 27, 2014So I received a DVD with an eps file on it from a graphics company. I was informed that I could open it in Illustrator and start editing the individual graphics within the file. But when I open it, it is just one image and won't let me edit it.
There are no locks on the image layers.
The graphics company told me that it was originally created in Indesign and then saved as an eps, so I don't really know what to do now.
It won't open and let me edit in any of the Adobe programs. I need these graphics to edit!

Sep 24, 2013I have been working on a piece for a little while now and it now acts as if the whole image is locked. I can toggle a layers visibility to find out that I an on the proper layer, but then I can not erase something or draw new. I noticed the last time that I was working that I could not Pencil over the entire layer as if the layer was and inch shorter than the left side of the canvas. I went down every layer and moved the cursor over the image area to see if the layer was locked. There are 27 layers. It was saved as an .XCF file.

The steps are File > Open > select file in drop-down box > click on Open > see empty image in Import from PDF box > click on Select All > Import. The import process takes a few seconds and the editing box appears with a blank image. The size of the box matches the number of pixels shown in the import box, but no image is visible. What can I do to change the color or visibility of the pixels? Other PDF files import correctly using the same process.

Jun 26, 2012I open a jpg file in gimp and use the crop tool. I see the cropped part highlighted and the part to be discarded as a surrounding shaded area. I am happy with the cropped part and open a file-save-as dialog through the file menu. I type in the file name and think I am done. But when I open the saved file, it looks the same as the uncropped file that I started with in the first place. What am I failing to do to make the gimp save my change? I guess the answer is that I didn't really make a change but only thought I did. So how do I actually change to the cropped image?

Apr 5, 2012I am trying to open an .AI file, and am having almost success. Instead of loading the whole image, it cuts off about 50% of the image, leaving just the center. I altered the rendering width and height in the Import from PostScript window and it successfully extended the image to include the right side, but the left is still truncated. How can I get this whole image to open?
I can resort to just mirroring the left and right sides to fill in the blanks, but I would really rather not do that if it is possible.
