GIMP 2.8.6 and 2.8.8 keeps crashing on me. This typically happens when I add an .abr brush.I have a couple in there already that work and does not crash GIMP, but whenever I add new ones, it does no matter what.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI've been a GIMP user for a number of years now and it's always worked well for me, but since 2.8 came out I keep on experiencing crashes.
Some occur randomly, but the most common one is while attempting to zoom in or out by holding Ctrl and scrolling the mouse wheel. When I do this, either nothing happens, so no zooming (and moving up/down with mouse wheel doesn't work either), or GIMP just crashes, naturally deleting all my work in the progress. Sometimes just hitting Ctrl is enough to make it crash.
Starting GIMP through command line gives me this output upon crash..
My Gimp is crashing EVERY 5 - 10 minutes and already crashed umpteen dozen times already today! ANYTHING and EVERYTHING is causing it to crash! from opening up an image, using tools, changing visibility of layers, It has CRASHED at least once for EVERY action I can perform in Gimp! and it ONLY lasts 5 - 10 minutes until a crash! it EVEN crashes when it is dormant!
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just recently started to use Gimp on my HP, and it worked fine on Dell. When I moved my brushes over, it began to crash when it'd get to the Data load. I have over 1,300 brushes, some are ABR and most are GBR, but I separated those into folders in the Brush file.
View 8 Replies View RelatedOk, so I have been using Gimp for around a year now, I love it! Have never had any problems... until now. Ramdomly enough it has decided to stop working for me. On start up it takes alot longer than usual... 20 - 30 mins longer than usual! The start up splash screen freezes, along with the rest of my desktop. I always run it with nothing else running so I don't think there's anything conflicting there.
My windows updates are fully up to date, along with drivers etc. This really frustrates me because as I said, I have been running Gimp for almost a year without a single glitch.
I have also tried uninstall/reinstall, tried running the older build. If I do by some miracle get it to run, its extremely slow, freezes during simple tasks. Specs below -

i just update my Gimp to the new 2.8.6 and for some reason it keeps crashing whenever i start opening up GImp(the loading screen)! I kept uninstalling it and installing it again,but,the same crash always appears! I then restart the computer and it happens again!
View 2 Replies View RelatedI experienced this issue with Gimp 2.6 whenever I had a lot of brushes in the brush folder. The only way I found to avoid the problem was to have less brushes in it. As a result, I never got to really use all of them like I had intended to.
The current version I'm using is 2.8. I updated Gimp because I saw the tagging system. I figured it'd be easier to locate the brushes I want to use. The program worked fine up until I added more folders to the brush folder to take advantage of the tagging system. Now the start-up freezes and crashes when it's updating the tagging cache.
In general, Gimp seems to get mad at me when I add a crap ton more than it's comfortable with.
Gimp 2.6 NEVER once crashed! 2.8 FREQUENTLY crashes! I cleared my userdata TWICE and still having frequent Gimp crashing!

I am rather beside myself, I have an iMac running 10.6.8 with 4GB of memory. I would love to copy and paste the crash report but it's not letting me do that.

I've tried reinstalling CS2, reparing premissions and a new user account.

The issue can occur when opening the program, opening a file or doing nearly any action when a file is open. No specific file seems to be causing it, sometimes it will run without a problem for an entire day and other it's constantly crashing.

I downloaded the Photoshop CC/LR5 combo a few days ago, and since then the programs have been crashing my PC. (I've attached a screenshot.) This has happened at least 8 times, twice already this morning. Before I upgraded, I was using CS3 and LR4 and never had this issue.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI just joined Creative Cloud. I uninstalled my trial versions of CS6 (which were working just fine) and then installed CC versions of them. After Effects CC is working great. Photoshop CC, however, keeps on quitting the moment I try do something like apply an effect or resize the image. I'm not get a crash report from the Adobe Crash Reporter so here's the Apple crash report. I'm running 10.8.4 on a mid-2012 MacBook Pro '13 i5.

I open say a blank canvas 20x20 then open a photo I wish to transfer onto it.  On the photo create a background copy and select the move tool, once the photo is on the canvas I then select the resize tool to make the photo small on the work area and then everytime is stops working and say a fault has occured photoshop will now close?
I have been having a lot of crashes lately at seemingly random times. I could be changing the opacity of a layer and it crashes, using puppet warp and it crashes, using free transform, so it doesn't seem to be a particular feature that is crashing it. Every time I use the type tool, the crop tool and HDR merge the app crashes, i'm currently using the trial version and this is not encouraging me to buy the upgrade from CS4 which i'm very happy with and never have these sort of problems.

Photo montage against a video track (default movie reel supplied in VS).
Tried a HD def video single video track about 50 seconds long using output from a Go Pro Hero HD
Tried a video in multiple formats using Main video and combinations of overlays (1 or 2) with video in corners or elsewhere.
Sometimes it works but more often than not it crashes out and creates a dump file.
Details of the files I'm playing with when it comes to video.
They are MP4 files directly out of the go pro - (i'll get additional shortly when i return home).
I am running x3 pro downloaded directly from Corel with a 'check updates patch' installed.
I have directx 11.
I'll supply more info shortly when I'm back in front of the machine.
I tried a search, but anybody else getting unexpected program error, and CS shutting down without the option to save?

Then, I scanning a document. Everything worked fine. Today, I downloaded and ran the Photoshop CS4 11.0.1 update, and now Photoshop won't stay running. I ran the app and tried to scan a document. It crashed before the document could scan. I ran the app again, this time naviating to a file, but it crashed before the file opened.
