I am brand new to GIMP. I just installed the latest version (2.6) and tried to open an image file from my computer. I clicked open, and went to a folder on my computer that has lots of jpegs in it. None are appearing for me to open in GIMP however. I tried a different folder with images in it and got the same result. I have it set for "All Images".

These are photos imported into iPhoto from my Fujifilm digital camera or they are scans from my HP printer scanned into iPhoto. I hope I don't need to open each file in iPhoto and export it to a different format...
View 4 Replies View RelatedJust built a new box with Asus P5K mobo, 4 gig ram, Intel Core 2 processor and a nVidia Gforce 7300 video card. XP Pro with SP3. Now when CS is open the images that are open "blink" off/on sometimes. I turned down hardware acceleration a notch and tried lowering refresh rate from 85 to 75 but no help. Did all recent Windows updates. Same old View Sonic GS790 monitor. I have used this monitor for years on old machine with Matrox G400 dual head card with zero problems ever. I downloaded lastest drivers from nVidia as originals said not XP compatible.

View 2 Replies View RelatedSomething went wront on an ingest of my images. I think I tried correcting it by going into my /workingfiles folder were they were stored and deleting them manually. I'm sure I checked to see if I could do it through Lightroom, but maybe I missed the folder they were put in. I am guessing that is what happened so Lightroom still has a small image of them somewhere and will no longer let me re-import them.

i just update my Gimp to the new 2.8.6 and for some reason it keeps crashing whenever i start opening up GImp(the loading screen)! I kept uninstalling it and installing it again,but,the same crash always appears! I then restart the computer and it happens again!
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've just bought some facebook fanpage and timeline templates that I'm trying to use, and I need to know how to add photos from my computer into the template.
They gave me instructions on how to do it with Photoshop using "PLACE" under the "File" tab, but there is no "place" in gimp.
I edited some photos today using GIMP 2.8.
I am now unable to delete the edited photos, rename the edited photos, or move the edited photos to another folder. Basically, they are stuck in their spot. I'm not even able to pull up the "Properties" selection from right-clicking the edited photo.
I tried to open them using IrfanView, but when I go to delete the photo using that program, it makes it not respond.
I can open the photo up in Paint, save it as a different format, and delete it - but the original edited photo is still there.
How can I move and delete edited photos? I've never ran into this problem in all the years I've been using GIMP.
I am interested in shooting with my D700 and lightroom 3 tethered. Is it possible for the image to be recored both on the card and on the tethered computer?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI uploaded some mono images from my Canon EOS5D(2) taken with an orange filter. Previous uploads have been fine. This time, after showing the mono images in the catalogue they all convert spontaneously to orange images of various shades - and the images also show colours. The camera setting was correct, on checking, for mono uploads and, in any case, never a problem before. What have I done wrongly - and is there any rescue? Lightroom is v2.7.

I went into SAFE mode to see what would happen and the same action resulted. I went into SAFE mode because all security programs would be off.
When I change the setting to use the user manual online this is the error message. ( My Outpost Security Suite 7.1 Free is ON.)

I went to see what the default browser but it only shows "Reg_SZ" in the HKEY_CLASSES_ROOThttpshellopencommand. I want to verify what my default browser is. Isn't that what GIMP will use as the browser? Why does GIMP use the NotePad program to display the user manual when I have the preferences set to local access (on my computer)? The name of the NotePad file is "gimp-concepts-usage".
But I wouldn't be able to upload a hundred tiny, plain images. I made this to add onto the background removal FAQ. I hope it's accepted.

I started a new computer with LR5, and it runs fine. But, when I imported my pics from a previous computer running LR4, all the pics loaded into the new LR without any tags or processing. How can I get that info without having ot reprocess thousands of pictures?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI am currently running a Mac with OS 10.8.2 and have installed Adobe CS 5.5 Production Premium. Within Photoshop- Preferences- Performance, Photoshop is only recognising 2100MB of RAM, while my Computer has 16GB of RAM available. I have checked and according to the OS Finder, this 16GB is active.
I have also checked across other Adobe programs such as Adobe Premier and have confirmed that here it is also recognising the Available 16GB of RAM. Thus it is only in Photoshop that this is occurring. I have since deleted all of my preferences from both the user level and the hard drive but no recification. I have noticed a recent discussion which sounds very familiar, [URL]....
however this is on a windows based system and the last suggestion from a user was to a windows related issue and I am not sure that fixed the issue for them or not.
I installed plugins for CS6(64bit) in Program Files/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop CS6 (64 Bit)/Additional Plug-ins and nothing! CS6 doesn't recognize it, namely "dofpro.8bf" and it's companion file "convert.exe". I have verified that the above path is in the preferences of CS6 for additional plugins.
I then copied the files to Program Files/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop CS6 (64 Bit)/Plug-ins!
I have looked all over and cannot find any other places to install the files.
The instructions for the DOF Pro software said to simply copy the two files into the folder where CS6 has it's plug-ins. I don't know why CS6 is not displaying the DOF Pro filter option in the Filter drop down menu.
I am running Windows 7 Home 64bit and it is fully up to date.
My Lightroom 4.4 does not recognize my raw format photos files from my Olympus EP-5. It does recognize files from my Canon 5D marc2. I'm using a Mac computer by the way.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI just recently upgraded to Photoshop CS6 and for a while everything was fine. Then for no reason that I can see, the pen pressure recognition for my tablet simply stopped working. It literally was working one day and then stopped the next.
I am using a WACOM Intuos2 tablet, and have uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers for it many times to see if that was the problem. I have rebooted after each successful uninstall and reinstall, with zero effect. I have tried other USB ports with no effect. The tablet software recognizes the pressure when I run a diagnostic, it simply does not work in Photoshop. I realize the tablet is an older model but I can't imagine it is incompatible with Photoshop CS6.
I have made certain everything is up to date, including Photoshop, Windows 7 32bit, any hardware drivers and my tablet driver.
My installation does not recognize the EasyCap adapter (nothing shows on "Select Device" menu). I have re-installed and downloaded 64 bit drivers from the net with no effect. Running Vista Home Premium 64 bit, SP2.
View 1 Replies View RelatedOur new employee is trying to do a custom hatch of a stone pattern, but when he selects it, he gets a message saying it's invalid. I had him copy over the entire PAT folder that I use and tell his support directory to look at it. It works when I use it on my computer. So far none of the other custom hatch patterns give him an invalid message, just this one.
I know he's working on drawings that another ex-employee started. He used a whole different set of PAT files for some reason. I think when we were looking for downloadable files and just used whatever he found. And this new employee is working on the computer of someone that is no longer with the company...so it's impossible for me to find out who did what. Also, I don't know if it makes a difference, but I (and 2 other people) have Architecture 2010, and the rest of the employees have AutoCAD 2011. I don't think this is an issue because no one else seems to have this problem, and like I said before, all the other hatch patterns work.
The thing that doesn't make sense to me is that I'm pretty sure this pattern is a standard custom hatch, because it's found in my "AutoCAD Architecture 2010/support" folder, as opposed to my "ACA 2010/enu/support" folder. But when I go into his system, he doesn't have any of those patterns in his similar folder.
I am running CS4 on a Windows Vista Platform. I have increased my RAM from 2GB to 4GB (max for 32 bit system). I've checked my computer and the memory is 'registered' and recognized by the system. Everything seems to be fine but when I go to CS4 Preferences it still lists my available RAM as 1645 (old 2GB figure). How do I get Adobe to see my new memory?
