CorelDRAW X6 :: Crashes On Add / Alter Text And Changing Fonts
May 17, 2013
So I am running x6 ver. 16.3.0.114 and we use Corel for all of our artwork designs. However just as of yesterday, I am consistently crashing any time I add/alter and sort of text. Sometimes it's as simple as trying to change the font from the object properties tab. Others is as soon as I try to paste text into the program. I have had no issues up until yesterday.
No new programs were installed to my knowledge. Nothing was changed on my computer. Corel has simply spazzed out.
I created a layout for a gravestone in Corel. I sent it to someone who also uses corel draw x4 and corel is changing the font in my drawing. I used fonts Ariel and Palatino Linotype. I don't know if the Palatino is a defaulted font in corel or I downloaded online. I have been doing this kind of work for awhile so I can't remember. I ended up telling her the font and font size for the text and she created it. Then she emailed it back to me for review as I was looking at the email of her printscreens the lines of text had more space between each text line and the dates had more space between them.
She even went so far as to do printscreens of them to review and they don't seem correct. I don't know if this info is useful but I printed from corel and they are priting correctly (line spacing correct, text good). why is corel wanting to change the font. Almost forgot the font corel was changing to was HP PSG which is a font I have in my list of fonts in corel. And it isn't just tjhis file. I created a one line text with a different font and sure enough she told me corel wanted to change the font again. I don't know if it was changing it to HP PSG. I wonder what would it change it to if I remove HP PSG. How do you remove a font from the list??
After fairly smooth sailing for using X6 I ran into a problem that's caused me to switch back to X5 for the time being :(
I work in files that have thousands of individual characters in them. In X5 if I wanted to change the color of about 10,000 individual characters it would take about 3 seconds to do so. If I do the same thing in X6 I takes at least 30 minutes (or longer, I just killed it by that time).
Working with large amount of texts is incredibly slow X6, not just 5 or 10% or slower, doing somethings takes up to 10x times as long.....
I know there is a lot of features for text in X6 but this decrease in speed puts a complete block in my workflow. Maybe Corel could have a feature that individual text characters have minimal properties associated with them or something?
Here are my specs:
windows 7 64bit with office 2010 installed Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2600K CPU @ 3.40GHz NVIDIA Quadro 4000 16.0 GB ram
Coreldraw has a user-selectable option to export text "As text" (with or without font embedding) or "As curves". But if the text has a transparency applied to it, then Coreldraw always exports it as curves regardless.
This is a bug. The SVG spec clearly states that text is painted like any other path and so can have SVG opacity applied to it.
I had several CorelDraw documents that crashes on me, and the auto-backup did not work.
In all these documents, if I open the text paragraph window and typed on it, the entire program will crash if I exit that window after finishing.
I discovered that if I typed directly on the text paragraph, it will not crash. That means do not open the text paragraph window to do editing. But this makes editing very slow since it seems to be more memory intensive.
Strange the auto-backup directory/folder always do not have my backup files too.
I have a label type form that was created in CorelDraw 9 and now I am involved in a change to the document. I can open this form in Corel 9 no problem. When I try to open it in Corel X5 it says there are missing fonts. I have both programs on the same computer yet in X5 it can't find the fonts.
Some of the changes are adding things the where made in X5 and if I copy them into the original Corel 9 I can’t do anything with them, they are just there to look at.
I am trying to find the fonts from a free down load but all I see are 30 day trials.
In X5 I have tried to use the substitute fonts to find the correct fonts but they are not there.
What it wants are "Times New Roman CYL - Normal and Times New Roman CYL - Bold.
I use Gimp alot to make beautiful banners . I add text into them. The problem I am having [you are going to love this]. I made a beautiful banner for a friend and installed it on a website. [get ready to laugh] I spelled his name wrong. I put the banner back into Gimp but I can't figure out how to alter the text. Do I need to make a new banner or can this be changed??
In the last 2 days Corel has decided to start changing Artistic Text to Paragraph Text when I copy & paste it across documents, completely changing the font, size & colour of what I am copying.
I've just done a factory reset & it's still doing it.
I don't recall doing anything that would change a setting.
The text I am copy & pasting are disclaimers that are all set on 1 document & I copy & paste them to a proof as needed.
every time I try to enter / alter text, autocad informs me that it can't find a dictionary for spell checking purposes. I can live with that, but the constant pop-up is getting old.
I tried to reset my Main Dictionary... but it seems to be gone. Is a fresh re-install in order?
I have some 20 pages file and used 2 font in it. Now when I look in Text - Text Statistics it is showing 6 different fonts other then I have used. I try to look in object manager it is showing paragraph text with only one font. How to find out the fonts that is not used by me.
I just installed CorelDRAW X6 on a new 64bit Win-7 machine. When I try to use keyboard shortcuts to cut and paste paragraph text in a document I created with X5 on my old 32bit Win-XP machine, CorelDRAW crashes. I need to be able to work with my old X5 (and occasionally, older) files. Is there a fix for this, or do I need to go scrap X6, and put X5 on my new machine?
issues using True Type Fonts when printing some text through CorelDraw x6. Basically I do screen printing, and I have issues printing TTF's... The text when it prints out chops letters/adds spacing where its not needed, and towards the end of the sheet of vellum - starts to print the first letter of word on the left over again...
I haven't had issues printing off of my HP printer, but that broke so I invested in a BROTHER HL-2230 monochrome laser printer.
Starting yesterday, I copy/paste text from Word to x6 paragraph text box, save, all fine. But when I attempt to edit that text box, entire program crashes each time I try to save a change.
Sometimes I can make a single change -- add a return -- and save before crash. This is a nightmare. I've relied on Corel for years and suddenly a 5 minute job has become impossible to complete after a day and a half of frustration.
I'm using Win7. This problem started at about the time I added a logitech c920 webcam. The logitech software won't work at all with my system. Logitech says the wacom tablet is the problem.
I've uninstalled the logitech AND restored my system to pre-webcam condition (so they say) but the Corel text bug persists.
I'm trying to create a new design based on a grid, so I need pixel-exact text layers. For this I always use "None" as anti alias method. This is pixel-exact, but it's absolutely not beautiful. So from time to time I'd like to check how the full impression of the layout is on a modern browser that support anti aliasing. Sadly it's quite a pain to do and then again undo it for every text layer separately, so maybe there's a way to speed things up? :-)
I can no longer type in the size of an object. I draw a rectangle and then type in the correct size. Nothing happens. The size of the box does not change.
It's the same with text. If I type a name that needs to fit a certain area, I type in the size for the width and it doesn't change.
I am having a problem with cutting the size of text that I want. On the main working screen I type in the specific dimensions of the text that I want to cut ( I have a graphtec cutter). When I pull up "Cut/Plot" in the dialog box under Job Size....the size is NEVER what I have specified. It is normally smaller.I will then type the dimensions into the Job Size field and cut the letter. BUT when I cut the letter......it is not the size I typed into the job size.
I would like to have a macro to select all the text in a document (independently if it is in a group or ungrouped), and change its font to another one.
I have tried to record a macro by myself, but appear a text that says that these functions could not be recorded.
When I copy and paste a block of text, and then use the x and y coordinates to move it into position, the text characteristics change. It becomes all caps, and italicized text becomes non-italic. This happened with both Perpetua and Stone Sans.
Photoshop crashes when Fonts are turned off in Bitstream. What one is it? The fonts are slowing my computer down in Corel. I tried to turn off all my fonts and start over. I have a basic system folder I use to turn on only the ones I need. This speeds up my Corel but then when I went to open Photoshop, the program crashes and won't open. When I went to a restore point, the photoshop programs opens, of course, all 800 fonts are loaded slowing down my Corel again. I took them out again, carefully leaving what I thought to basic fonts the program may be calling for. But I did not get the right one. I have been turning off and turning on back and forth to get it to work. Only when I load the all again, does it work. As soon as I remove them, its back to not working!
I am working with vector art that has lines that either look like they were cut off and not finished out or extend to the edge of the page so they are straight when they should actually be curved.
Is there any way to take a straight line or part of an image and curve it with ease or will I have to redraw or alter each line?
You've got a large number of text layers all in the same font and you decide you want change the font of all of them to something else. Locking them together, which is what you would do if you wanted to resize them concurrently, doesn't work. How to you make the change of font happen across multiple text layers?
I am using a MAC OS version 10.6.8 and ESTK 3.6. When I open ESTK the font is very small and I want to make it larger. I go to ExtendScript ToolKit>Preferences when I click Fonts and Colors the program crashes and sends an error report to Apple.
I would like to script Illustrator with .jsx instead of AppleScript because I am more familiar with JavaScript (plus it's cross platform compatible).
When I use video filter Pan & Zoom and I change options want to change the filter options, then VS crashes. The other filters work fine. I doubt if I put a video with this error.
I've got A4 document and when trying to switch from portrait to landscape it just crashes. Is there any other way to do this than from File/Document Setup?
s3 = New DimStyleTableRecords3.CopyFrom(vz)s3.Name = nazovtst.Add(s3)_trans.AddNewlyCreatedDBObject(s3, True) _trans.Commit()
Then, in another part of the code, I open the new style and change a property:
Using trans As Transaction = db.TransactionManager.StartTransaction ds = trans.GetObject(ds.ObjectId, OpenMode.ForWrite) ds.Dimtxsty = s2TextStyle.ObjectId trans.Commit() End Using
this works OK for the first time, but when I run the code again, I don't create the new style, I just take the existing one and changing the Dimtxtsty property to the value it already has causes AutoCAD crash
