Photoshop :: Alter Anti Alias Method For All Text Layers?
Apr 11, 2008
I'm trying to create a new design based on a grid, so I need pixel-exact text layers. For this I always use "None" as anti alias method. This is pixel-exact, but it's absolutely not beautiful. So from time to time I'd like to check how the full impression of the layout is on a modern browser that support anti aliasing. Sadly it's quite a pain to do and then again undo it for every text layer separately, so maybe there's a way to speed things up? :-)

working with printed material and the CMYK enviroment.
I'm designing some full color business cards entirely in photoshop 7 and I have a couple questions:
1) Is it true that one should turn off Anti-Alias when creating text for printing? I know it looks jaggy on the screen but I heard it is suppose to be better for printing.
2) Should I set the text layer to "Multiply" not "normal"?

I created a pixel/blocky style of logo in Illustrator. Need to bring it into Photoshop for scaling/coloring/etc. Unfortunately, when I try to scale the logo down in Photoshop 7 (via drag/drop/scale/place), it applies anti-aliasing to the logo. This is obviously no good since the logo is pixel based, including a pixel style font.
How do you resize/scale things without anti-aliasing in Photoshop? (Especially with the Transform/Scale tool, as opposed to using "Image > Resize" (with "Resample Image: Nearest Neighbor").)
I'm not used to using files back and forth between Illustrator and Photoshop.

I am trying to modify a brush to draw fine dotted lines. Even with the hardness cranked all the way to 100%, the edges are still soft and anti-aliased. Is there a way to completely turn off anti-alias for brush?

how to anti-alias a rectangular selection. I'm trying to create a solid filled rectangle with a thin border, but it (Photoshop 7) doesn't seem to give you that option. It gives you that option for the freeform selection, but not the rectangular margquee.
I've used Paint Shop Pro to create that type of shape using its vector features.

When I select the rectangular marquee tool, I am unable to check the anti alias box. It is unavailable to me or "greyed out". My text is quite jagged, and I am thinking it is because of the unavailibility of the anti alias effect.

I am trying to make a 3D globe, but using CS6 (i have designed in 3D in CS5 before but want to familiarize myself with the process for CS6). The problem is that the edges of the sphere are a little sketchy and I want to change anti-alias settings to solve the problem but cannot seem to find them anywhere .

I have Creative Suite CS3.
I'm copying some vector art from Illustrator and pasting into Photoshop - for some reason it isn't anti-aliasing it. Even when I select Smart Object and rasterize, it's jaggy.
I've also tried saving as an EPS and importing into Photoshop - same behaviour. I can "open" the file, but that flattens it.
What makes it stranger, is I have another machine with CS3 and it imports correctly, so I'm guessing there's a preference somewhere...

concerning anti-aliasing a graphic. Im currently using Photoshop CS2 running on Windows XP.
I have a graphic that I want to use with backgrounds of different solid colors and even the occasional multi-colored background. I want to smooth out the jaggies of the graphic in such a way that the smoothed graphic can be placed on a separate layer and the desired background can be inserted on a layer below.
I can successfully import an anti-aliased graphic IF I import the graphic and its background at the same time. But then the anti-aliased graphic is suitable for use only with that particular color background. I would like to eliminate this extra step if possible.
Suppose the graphic were black on a white background. The anti-alias pixels might be 75% gray, 50% gray, and 25% gray. Conceptually, it doesnt seem like it should be all that difficult for the anti-alias pixels to be black at 75% transparency, black at 50% transparency, and black at 25% transparency. Then, in theory, wouldnt this type of transparency anti-aliasing work for any color background placed underneath it? Is this possible in Photoshop CS2? If not, is it possible in a later version (might be a good reason to upgrade)?

I have a 72 dpi smart object with text & images inside another 72 dpi SO and need to transform it (distort and/or perspective). Once I do so the anti-aliasing becomes very poor thus making the SO's text almost illegible. Is there a way to improve this? Maybe change the way the SO is being anti-aliased?

I made a selection with the magic wand (with the anti-alias box checked), made a new layer, and dumped a color in with the paint bucket (anti-alias box is checked). But, the edges are not anti-aliased. I am running Photoshop CC on Mac OS 10.6.8, and this problem occurred in a .tiff file and a .psd file.

I try to anti-alias or matte the edges of a shape in order to make a transparent gif/png of it without having pixelated 'hard edges'. The current situation is that I have a selection of some shape in GIMP. Below the layer with the shape in it, I stroke the selection of my shape with a lighter colour by using a fuzzy paintbrush. This gives me some sort of anti-alising effect, but it isn't any close to the matte option in the 'export for web' dialog of Photoshop. Because I really do like GIMP, I am curious if there is a better way to get anti-aliased shapes using Gimp?

I use Photoshop CS2 to create Designs for webpages. These designs have pixel-exact elements, e.g. a 1-pixel-line from top to bottom.
Now when I zoom in (>100, then I have sort of anti-alias, so that the 1-pixel-line isn't only one blue anymore, but it has different blue tones. I guess for photo manipulations etc. this anti-aliasing zoom is great, but for webdesign it sucks because I don't know if only the zoom make the line "corrupt" or if it really is corrupt.
Is there a way to change this zoom?

every time I try to enter / alter text, autocad informs me that it can't find a dictionary for spell checking purposes. I can live with that, but the constant pop-up is getting old.
I tried to reset my Main Dictionary... but it seems to be gone. Is a fresh re-install in order?

So I am running x6 ver. 16.3.0.114 and we use Corel for all of our artwork designs. However just as of yesterday, I am consistently crashing any time I add/alter and sort of text. Sometimes it's as simple as trying to change the font from the object properties tab. Others is as soon as I try to paste text into the program. I have had no issues up until yesterday.
No new programs were installed to my knowledge. Nothing was changed on my computer. Corel has simply spazzed out.

In the above picture you can see alternate options under text aliasing called Windows LCD. These only became visible to me after removing a GPU and all drivers, but with a new GPU it is still present?
My question is, how do you get this aliasing option as a default?
Edit: Bottom text is using Sharp aliasing.

Whenever I type in Photoshop for the last few months, all the text is pixelated and blurry. The problem is impervious to anti-aliasing and resolution changes. The only difference is that with anti-aliasing the image is blurry and pixelated and without, it's just extremely pixelated. Why this problem started, I have no memory of changing a setting that would have caused this.
I've done everything I can think of, including re-setting Photoshop completely to original settings. Even files that I created before the problem began now have blurry text when opened. I esentially can't do anything with Photoshop right now and it is extremely frustrating. The following images are of the text WITH anti-aliasing and then without, both at 12 pt, 400%, 300 ppi.

I have a set of images of complex text that has already been rasterized into pixels. My client would like the images transformed with a different background color and different foreground (text) color.
Just replacing the 2 colors of course does not preserve the antialiasing which provides the smoothness. And when I try hand-editing the aliased pixels it takes forever and always looks pretty bad.
Ideally there would be a way to transform the color schema globally so that the 2 foreground and background colors are changed as directed, and all "intermediate" antialias pixels adjust "accordingly". Does such a transformation exist -- can you specify a color transformation that adjusts 2 colors at once?
Or is there a more painstaking process of masks and such? I've tried several versions with masks, selects, feathering etc. but haven't found anything yet that gives professional antialias quality to the final recolored result.

I am trying to get a white layer with see through writing which reveals the background image underneath. (Almost like I have put a stencil over a photograph). I have discovered this is called a clipping mask.
However, I am having difficulty using a clipping mask over multiple text layers. It seems to only do it to one layer directly beneath. I do not want to merge the text layers as I want to mess about with the design a fair bit.

I have a weird problem with underlining my text while having anti-aliasing off. (Photo-paint X3, version 13.0.0.739)
When I have a large block of text and the underlined word is in the middle, the underline is displaying correctly as 1px line with a 1px space from the baseline. But when the text is either at the end or alone, it looks like there is a 2px underline without any vertical space at all.
See the image attached for clarity.
Font: Arial, size: 12pt, anti-alias off
It happens on two different computers, one with Windows 7 32-bit and one with Windows XP 32-bit.
